There are some things I like about the new system, but I had a contract a month or so back on... Tharvis I think? Snuck into Hashan a couple times to try and fill it, with no luck, not realizing the system had changed.
Fast forward a couple of weeks, I die to someone who it ended up he hired on me, thinking I was attacking him for no reason. When I died to his Mark, it not only completed his contract, but at the same time negated the one I had open on him. Not sure if that's an intended risk/reward of this new system or not, but it was an unexpected turn of events. I'll have to think of something witty to say next time I sneak up behind Tharvis to let him know I'm not just being a PITA.
When a group of 20 Mhaldorians come in and it doubles the amount of Army members we have on, it's not like people really stand a chance defending, so most of the time that's how it goes. For the most part they just raid until they get a room blown up and then leave. It's just kind of a "thinking of you" card.
Well put, I like that. I'm going to get some post cards made up that we can drop during raids... a picture of the Fortress on one side with "Greetings From Mhaldor, Wish You Were Here!" written in pink flowing script down in the corner.
We're don't want to be mean, we're just looking for new friends, but we're a bit awkward, and trying to fit in.
Let me preface by saying I'm new, so this might seem rather flippant. But is it common for everyone to just... evacuate a city during a raid? Today Mhaldor raided Cyrene. Our army went in and died to the invaders a few times, Mhaldorians killed stuff, broke stuff, and I guess got bored and left.
Is this working as intended? It was really strange.
Also, yes, it is, assuming you mean Cyrene's reaction. It'd be great if citizens didn't need to leave their city, if there were tiers of defenses or something, and defenders could defend outer walls or something instead of basically defending random places in the city, but that's just not the case.
Cyrene's the city of roleplayers and noncombatants. Some of us like combat to varying extents, and for some of us, that goes as far as the occasional raid defense, but a lot of us don't, and trying to force them into it would be counterproductive to Cyrene's very reason for existing, both ICly and OOCly speaking.
As far as the whole getting raided thing... supposedly there were divine orders involved. I'm personally a bit skeptical of any orders resulting in heavily outnumbered raids, but again, ideally everyone who's defending in Cyrene likes it to some degree or another, so it's not a huge deal.
I just wish I represented the true spirit of mischief by yelling back more, personally, but I'm still sort of sick so I didn't have much cleverness going on at the moment.
A guttural voice whispers in your ear, "You have demonstrated exemplary Suffering, far beyond the capacity of most heathens."
Your body jerks as red veins rise upon your skin, throbbing angrily with Malevolent energy for 3 Achaean months.
She is a beautiful siren. Petite and fine-boned, her lissome body has an ethereal quality, giving the impression that her form wavers upon the line between dream and reality. Shadowy tresses flow from her head in a torrent of languid curls, framing her face before cascading whimsically over her bare shoulders in gentle waves to her trim waist. Tucked behind her ear, the slender stem of a violet flower twists into a velvety whorl of petals. Serene, cobalt blue eyes gaze dreamily from beneath her delicate, dusky lashes and a beguiling smile of contentment drifts across her lips. Pale and unblemished skin, redolent of orchids and the faint scent of crushed tea leaves, follows the supple contours of her nimble physique. Angry red veins stretch across her skin in tight ropes throbbing with Malevolent energy.
You say in a gentle, ethereal voice, "How unusual. I shall hide from Your sight, Mother! I look a fright with these red veins."
Bluef pulls her cloak over her bared arms.
Valnurana leans forward and places a gentle kiss on your forehead.
Valnurana, Goddess of Sleep and Dreams says, "It is a mark of strength, no matter its source."
You beam broadly at Valnurana.
A guttural voice whispers in your ear, "Use it well Somnolent Wytch and visit Oppression upon those that you slay in your hunts."
You nod your head slowly, trying to wear your best wise look.
Valnurana, Goddess of Sleep and Dreams has bestowed Her divine highfavour upon you. It will last for approximately 1 Achaean month.
Valnurana ponders you with a contemplative expression.
You say in a gentle, ethereal voice, "Thank you, Lady. I am...overwhelmed."
A lump forms in your throat as emotion overwhelms you; a single tear runs down your cheek.

Had an idea to collect the two Targossian heads I need to join Mhaldor. Got taug to kill one person while defiling a shrine with @Kresslack But I was not smart enough to grab body and decap mid combat...
All in all it was most funny when I died against @Eigen sure that I was going to lose but I wanted to try and see if I could last awhile. My combat is still simplified but thanks to @Zulah I have ideas on how to improve upon it.
Oh I also (thanks to Targossians) was reminded about the cloak defence. Being braziered into their defense group was a very short experience for me.
Had a brief but enjoyable enemy rp moment with @Tibitha

I really like the customised nature given to the favours. Even if it's only cosmetic, it makes them feel different, and definitely changes my mental image (rather than a generic "he/she walks with the <favourlevel> of X").
- (Eleusis): Ellodin says, "The Fissure of Echoes is Sarathai's happy place." - With sharp, crackling tones, Kyrra tells you, "The ladies must love you immensely." - (Eleusian Ranger Techs): Savira says, "Most of the hard stuff seem to have this built in code like: If adventurer_hitting_me = "Sarathai" then send("terminate and selfdestruct")." - Makarios says, "Serve well and perish." - Xaden says, "Xaden confirmed scrub 2017."
Yesterday, Mhaldor decides to raid when I'm in the middle of eating a burger at Red Robin.
Today, I hop in-realms as soon as some of them try raiding again.
With a victorious exclamation, you succeed in disrupting the delicate balance of energy sustaining a glowing metal tank radiating waves of heat, causing it to crumple harmlessly in upon itself. As the elating experience of victory washes over you, you feel your understanding of the world improve.
Your soul cries out in ecstasy as it reaches new heights of power. You have advanced to level 95.
You have reached the illustrious level of 1st Order of the Hyperphysical.
You have received 23 Bound Credits!
Really love every 5th level. I guess that stops now, though.
Actually, I think it stops at level 100.
You get 25 at 100, though.

@bluef Yes, I love getting favours for crying. I should do it all the time. I want to have a raisin face too. Bring on the dehydration.
I didn't cry IC, so I'm reasonably sure Sartan didn't favour me for that. My understanding was that Bluef chose to suffer rather than help you guys kill her husband. Likewise, she had to suffer through Aegoth's unwarranted double kill as well (Kaie wasn't even online when he killed her). Anyhoo, the favour for me made up for all that crap. It was a nice RP-able ending to things anyway. I hope you guys get yours as well.
Learned how to speak Tsol'dasi today without peeking for any answers. That made me happy. Also, if whoever made that area is still on staff and reads this. Know you deserve like twenty high fives in a row for your efforts.
Finally got around to participating in one of the Emnia's submission events. I was rushed to leave to go to the store and just tossed a quick limerick into the contest, so I didn't look like I was dodging this one too. Ended up completely surprised when I won the contest! (Dat Dibbuk tho, mhmm)
@Bluef Thanks for the pillow! I don't even know if you remember Shara talking about how bad she wanted one after she saw it in the cave outside of Hashan, and how she did RP with the selling denizen to bribe him to sell her one (and a ribbon). Lady Val has a great group of people supporting her. Can't wait to see the library come together too!

I also did not whine about it in the forums rants section.
Nor made any sarcastic comment here (despite the great urge to do so).

One of the symptoms of an approaching nervous breakdown is the belief that one's work is terribly important

Edit: That was pretty sarcastic, by the way. If you need a good online dictionary to define the term, lemme know.

This is what the forums look like right now.
