This is a bit annoying. I mean. I won't metagame and blame him about it or anything, but seriously, allow me to point out two things.
1.) Mages get to pre-vibe rooms in an arena.
- This is because it's customary. Mages let us rune, they let us venom, and most even let us start with an ENGAGE. It's the same thing. Yes, vibes are tough. LEARN TO SKETCH EIHWAZ. And if the vibes are tough, leave the room! But start out by giving them that ability of being at their best before the fight, or really, you're just not giving it a chance.
2.) @Das, let's face it. You're artied enough to be a member of the Pantheon. You're carrying around 2 soulpiercers and have more arties than IRE is selling right now. As far as I'm concerned, you can untarget/DSL almost anything/anyone and kill them. Last I recall, you mentioned over CT that you had close to 9000 hp. 9000. Take your complaints that someone needs to step back and take a breather and shove them. I'd have to disembowel you with LV2 torso damage and a runestack just so I could kill you. Anything short of that would fail. So yeah. Standing in a room with a guy that artied and that beefy (again, 9000 hp. That's ridiculous) is STUPID. No one will do it, and if they do, you have no business fighting them anyway.
You wanna talk about honor? Remove those artes and let's tussle, bro.
Against untargetted doubleslashes, a comparatively defensively artied Paladin with runes could probably tank that damage until they ran out of Devotion (or Das ran out of endurance, which would probably happen first). It gets a bit easier if you can push the fight past the 10 minute mark since then the damage drops off a bit due to Fury running out. A lot of classes, especially unartied, wouldn't stand a chance at straight up tanking that damage though.
I am quite sure unartied Dragon, Paladin, Priest, Infernal, Occultist, Apostate, Runewarden (with decent speed rapier) wouldn't have a problem either. Artied out runewarden DPS is huge, but few should die to straight up damage.
Based on my fights with Tiamat (similarly artied, but Infernal) in the Maldaathi vs Templar tournament, I'd say an unartied Paladin wouldn't stand a chance of staying in the room and straight tanking the damage.
If they left the room regularly, or prevented their opponent from getting in continuous offense, then yes they shouldn't die to straight damage - but that's not what I'm talking about.
2. In contrast to sentinels/bm's, they have no downsides from keeping rebounding up. (Not an issue against some classes, but very much so against weapon-attackers.)
3. They don't have to specifically go to the defence to hinder, since aeon and hangedman are part of their offence just as well.
4. Hangedman can come up as a mere side-effect of throwing another tarot with devil.
(5. Not quite as relevant, but blackout is a big incentive to diag.)
BM obviously ranks quite high up there too, of course, as another class that hasn't to specifically go to the defence to hinder, but does so as a side-effect to offence.

I'll agree that gremlin is a total monster, but chimera I don't even notice. Saying that hangedman is part of regular offense is silly, though. I can see where you're coming from putting hangedman up there, since that's pretty much the only thing that can hinder a shrugging Serpent, but nothing out-hinders a Sentinel's speed affs/breaks/raven/butterfly. And a Sentinel that tosses dustbombs? Reflexes makes that throw so fast, and Rive is insta no shield.
Bombs and puppet beat anything Occultist has to throw out there, though, no contest.
Apostate hinder is just a joke. Sabiru playing full defense I would get a doubleslash every 5-6 seconds.

Yeah, chimera isn't a huge deal, but when it comes to passive hindering (even more so when that hindering is stun), any additional bit counts. The hangedman being part of their regular offence was argued poorly, I admit. Aeon is, and hangedman is when devil makes it come up, so yeah, that's more what I covered as point 4 already. Nontheless, the fact remains that you're going to get hangedmanned randomly from time to time even without the occultist specifically going on the defence. As for it being the only thing to hinder a shrugging serpent... well, I'm sure we can think of one or two other tiny little afflictions and affects that aren't based on venoms!
Butterfly is bad, but it at least is stopped by blindness. Raven - no doubt, same issue as with gremlin. Breaks - sure, but they aren't available 100% of the time, even with their ridiculously fast prepping.
Jester bombs and puppet: well, they hinder, no doubt. But hangedman does that just as well on its own, so it merely offers alternatives, not something passive on top (although timed bombs go a bit in the "passive" direction). Jesters are pretty bad though, no doubt, since they don't rely on momentum at all, so they can afford hindering all the time until they go for their finishers - which almost always involve hindering too. So yeah, I'll certainly give you Jesters.
Apostates hinder well too, but their hinder is primarily based on curable afflictions and can thus be countered with different curing, even though it may be risky (depending on your class abilities). It also means that their hindering only works really well if they themselves never get hindered and can keep their momentum up. Bloodworm disrupt can be annoying, I guess.
I guess we don't have to get fixated on a precise order of hinderability though. They all can hinder a shitload if they want to.
