It's honestly not Sylvans' damage that I think is ridiculous, it's the speed. If Sylvans want to play a momentum class that translates into a huge damage burst at the end, that's fine, Alchemists already do that can do that with choleric inundates, but that takes them about 20-30 seconds to gain 8 tempers and inundate/iron nuke you. In comparison, Sylvans need 40-44 arcane power to Shockwave or Electrify, and at 5 power per spell, 2 spells every 2 seconds, that's 10 seconds before you get nuked. That's the problem, right there.
The damage could maybe use some adjustments, but arcane power gain needs the real attention. Drop power gain per spell to 2.5, or make Syncronicity take 5 power to use, so you still gain while using it, but not 10 per cast.
They lose all their AP if you move rooms though.
Isn't it if they move rooms?
Yes, but if they remain, they will still lose their AP 20-30 seconds later, and allow you to heal up completely.
Also, judging from Aepas' log, he had sensi for the first electrify hit, as hecured it before stormhammer hit. I'm fairly sure the resistance ability only works against actual magic damage (necromancy decay, dragonroar,...), but not electric damage.
Wildgrowth will also hinder mountjump, eagle wings, normal movement,... the main weakness it has is flying, which bypasses it every time.
Don't fight without resistance rings like ever. And just don't fight sylvans since we all forgot to classlead nerfs to their damage this last round somehow
I have a decent amount of lessons put into galvanism, about half. (Did that because loosis was wrecking me with LOS awhile back) While I didn't have any rings, I did have resistance from the chivalry skillset. It claims protection against magic damage, but is that only magic? is lightning damage going to bypass that completely? On top of that I do have algiz. I might not have had every defense in the world up, but I like to pretend I'm decently tanky. That 70% damage burst was without sensitivity, so I'd hate to see what it's like if you actually have afflictions.
I'll have to go through and double check that stuff and highlight it so I can gtfo if I see a lightning bolt. I forget since I don't fight many forestals these days, but does wildgrowth stop things like mountjump, or is it just normal movement? I seem to remember it having a bit less use than ghands or piety.
Thanks for all the additional info, and I'll see about fighting a few more sylvans if I see them to see if I can make sense of what is going on. Or maybe I will just prop a totem in an adjacent room and see if they'll come to me, or if I'll have to go into the AP room. We could have a glorious stalemate.
If it says magic damage, then it's very likely just the magic damage type which is not equal to electric damage.

True, I might be wrong but I seem to remember some attacks having multiple damage types. I think the old Kai choke used to be part magic and part asphyxiation, but I'm not entirely sure anymore. I just didn't know if that kind of thing still existed (or for that matter ever did.)
The balancing factor to Sylvan is the public accessibility of Chargeshield.
There's no reason to ever fight without one, as it'll be certain death.
But, yeah, because their AP is tied to room, throw monolith/tumble or fly spam (wildgrowth doesn't stop flying.. currently) just beats it. However, seeing as (like Aerek said) they hit the AP stack in 10 seconds, we do have a problem where their offensive pressure makes them momentum immune.
AP requirements could use bumping up, since we have to remember that this is their finisher. Meaning the fight is currently meant to end when they hit 40 AP. I'm not sure where AP caps, but the finisher requirements should logically be around there.
"The balancing factor to Sylvan is the public accessibility of Chargeshield."
Nope. Absolutely not. Combat shouldn't be - and thankfully isn't - balanced around what you can get from other people. Chargeshield isn't a Survival ability, it's a class ability, so Sylvan shouldn't be balanced around the other person having it. Chargeshield shouldn't make you immune but it also shouldn't be a requirement for surviving.

Resistance is only for magic type damage. There are attacks that do multiple damage types, but the only ones I know of off the top of my head are denizen attacks. The grizzlies in the Vashnars, for example, have an attack that's part blunt (I think) and part asphyx. Lightning is most likely purely electric.

Pretty sure despite only having a single line, it's treated as two separate attacks. They're also both physical damage, you can have SoA proc and absorb both.

Yeah, I knew about the separate attacks part, but thought the SoA would only absorb one. Maybe the asphyxiation one is a different attack; it's been a while since I looked at it. I figured if denizen attacks could be two attacks of (possibly) different types on a single line, there's no reason in principle that adventurer attacks couldn't do the same thing. I don't know of any that do, which goes along with my statement that I don't know of any adventurer attacks with multiple damage types; I assume that if there were such, they would also be treated mechanically as two separate attacks.
This is basically a summation of my day thus far... first work was fucking lame. 12 hours. so stupid everything was broken.
and now my play time is just riddled with this... I don't mind deaths... but... could i like actually be connected to the game when they happen? that'd be... great.

Judging by the fact bloodworms hit you, I'd wager it was eating hawthorn to give you deafness back, and that you didn't actually have weariness. (especially since it also ate to cure masochism, as well) Bloodworms gives affs now, I think dizziness and masochism from memory, when they hit you, rather than knocking you off balance.
PS: SVO is missing a bunch of lines from last 1-3 classlead rounds. Still tries to say you have sensitivity for example, when bloodleech afflicts you with it while you're deaf. Bloodworms is another one it's missing.
The reasoning for that attack is beyond hilarious.
