Sartan, the Malevolent

  • @Cahin me too.

I looked at the picture and realized I had no idea what Sartan looks like. The old descrip on Asara's website is pretty different:

He is a radiant Immortal and is horribly scarred beyond belief. The skin across half His face has been burnt, leaving peeling flesh and exposing charred bone. One eye has lost all colour and appears to be nothing more then a pasty, bulbous orb. His blistering, gnarled hands are mostly concealed from sight. He is wearing long, black robes, and a golden ring of iniquity.

The stance looks really generic, like a create-a-god pose. Don't like it at all. Love the detail on the bloodsteel boots/greaves and the sword, though, and I like the reddening of his veins to illustrate the maleficence, but isn't Sartan supposed to be horribly disfigured?
No, he's not disfigured. This Sartan looks exactly like that, down to the red veins.

    The pose is not great.
  • BLOODSTEEL!!!

My Tanjinn scabbard just got so much more badass.

  • I think this would have been better received if more people had seen Sartan in-game.

    5/10, would not worship.

Sorry - I could not help myself! :) I like the art though, nicely done IRE-Artist!
  • You know, I actually like the stance on this one.  I noticed that on the last few pics, all the figures seem to be of the same stance, almost like it each was taken from the same base model and had the details changed.  That's not to say they didn't look great, it was just that it seems they were all posed the same.
Janeway: Tuvok! *clapclap* Release my hounds!
    Krenim: Hounds? How cliche.
Janeway: Tuvok! *clapclap* Release my rape gorilla!
    Krenim: ...We'll show ourselves out.

Wow, @Jonathin ninja'd me. Well, at least I'm not the only one who thought of Kratos. :D

That was due to the island being dropped on him, and him reforming. Pretty sure he's healed up by now!

It's deceptive. Where in standard placental mammals, the navel marks the attachment site of the umbilical cord, on Sartan it's actually just a reflection of all the stalagmite self-impalement that was done to resummon him.

Agreed with many of the comments here: I like the picture overall, but was thrown off by the pose and by the contrast between the well-armoured legs and the bare torso and arms.

That is just so -not- Sartan.

Where are Horns...The Horns were the damn trademark!!!

Where is the red miasma....THE FOG PEOPLE! THE FOG!

...If that is what Sartan's  looks like -AFTER- combined with Shaitan (a walking burning nightmare WITH hooves) and Apollyon (Debonair but scary as -fck-) then im plain speechless.

    Colour me strongly disheartened.

Edit: The guy looks like some wrestler from the roman pits..
  • @Asmodron Sartan never had horns. Horns were Shaitans trademark, not Sartans. Come on, people.

  • i'm not liking this very much. good drawing... but maybe a bit off in interpretation? :-/
  • That's the only pose Sartan can do. He's too muscle bound to get His arms to His sides!

  • JurixeJurixe Where you least expect it
What I really like about this picture is the sword, and the...leg-armour (I don't know what the name is for that). Those look really cool and I want them!

Sartan himself...well, I'll admit to being a little underwhelmed, but maybe that's because my interpretation of him in my head was different. No critique on the skill of the artist. I couldn't help immediately thinking of the Old Spice guy, to be honest. Also somehow he doesn't look angry enough.

That being said, man is he ripped.

I believe those are what you would call greaves.
  • @Sarapis So could we get Sartan's current description? Doesn't seem like any of us have it.

I do not like that comma after malice. I don't know if it's wrong, I just don't like it. It makes me pause while reading and makes the sentence read funny.

I could have been taught to read funny though.

  • Yes sir, Captain Tight Pants!
  • Description is cool, but doesn't really match the picture.

It's correct. "The vicious scowl that twists His mouth radiates pure malice" and "His dark eyes burn with bloodlust" are two independent clauses, and thus when combined into one sentence with a conjunction, need a comma.

Okie dokie then. I'll remember that and try to read accordingly.
