I think you have a typo there, should be 'a keyring of oath-breakers' fingers.

    Seriously awesome though!

  • And suddenly, that one conversation about fresh fingers makes sense.

I considered explaining it at the time and decided "You know what, let her wonder, it's more amusing"

None. Can't break any oaths (or have your fingers taken) if you don't log in.

    Appearance: a steel-reinforced longbow

Examined: As tall as most xorani when set vertically, this massive bow is designed to send an arrow through the strongest plate armour. Strips of gleaming steel reinforce each of the longbow's arms, enhancing its already powerful draw, and strips of leather burned with a detailed pattern of falcons and phoenixes wrap the weapon's grip.

  • Jesus I assume in my head it's rather thin strips or a springy alloy but I briefly had a chance to use a reproduction longbow made out of the classic yew, which the guy who makes them admitted wasn't quite as supple as it was supposed to be because you have to age the yew for TWO DAMN YEARS normally and this one had only had six months.

I was about 170 lbs and none of it is muscle, but I gave it my best and I'd been doing a bit of archery for six months or so (albeit with a modern compound bow. I couldn't even get the tips to bend. This was with the bow planted firmly on the ground and not with anything nocked (protip: do not do this, you will thoroughly upset the person who owns the bow and feel bad because this is bad for it!). You really get a sense of why these things could punch a hole handily through two sheets of plated steel with someone unfortunate in between it. That's not to criticise the design, more to give context to the terror of Achaean archery. You lot don't muck about.

  • Yeah it's amazing that shooting those things were somewhat routine before compound bows made for easier draws!

Yeah, thin metal strips like that are more typical on smaller bows,  but Achilles requested the manliest of warrior bows.

    Fear it.

  • Nominally plush but far from huggable, this wire-framed cloth doll is humanoid
in form. A miniature quiver full of correspondingly diminutive arrows is slung
across its back, and its clothing is monochromatic and as sharply detailed as
the rest of it: a black shirt and belted charcoal-grey trousers, beneath an
unbuttoned coat of grey silk that falls to its tiny plush ankles. Gazing
imperiously out at the world through grey glass eyes set in sharp mhunnish
features, the doll's aspect is one of bleakly cool focus as it sights along the
lovingly rendered Naga assassin's bow clutched firmly in its toy grasp.
It weighs about 1 pounds and 4 ounce(s).
It bears the distinctive mark of Jiraishin.

You pull gently on the strings of a shadowed mhun doll and watch as it comes
    alive.

Moving of its own accord, a shadowed mhun doll trains its eyes on a distant
target and looses a cyan coloured arrow.

With a twang, the cyan coloured arrow flies away to the west.

This exists now. I regret nothing.

Appearance: the Veil of the Obfuscatus Thing
    Examined:
This veil is cut from an unknown translucent material. It glows faintly as flickering tongues of purple darkfire pulse along the seams and collect near a small golden tag sewn onto the inside of the shroud. The tag bears the inscription: SEPARATE THE DARKNESS FROM THE LIGHT, THE SUBTLE FROM THE GROSS, GENTLY, AND WITH JUDGEMENT.

The one where I wanted to inspect quiver, accidentally typed QUIVER instead which is an emote of someone shaking like they're scared, and you thought it was intentional and posted it to forums because hilarious, and then you never forgot it?  :'(

    Yeah, that part. Good times.
