    I can't, I've got school and Achaea!
    1. Learn programming
    2. Charge people for quality useful scripts
    3. Profit
Not as easy to do when other people make quality, useful scripts and give them away for free.
There's a life lesson there. Either do it better or do something they don't.
  • Absolutely hilarious to me that I've been a socially awkward "old" player in Achaea since I first started playing in my twenties. And that's a year shy of a decade. Oh my :)
  • 11 years and counting... Man I never thought I'd say that about a game. But @Antonius is right because I grew up in the code your own system age and if it wasnt for ACP I never would have advanced but now with Vadi and so many other scripts running around it's pretty simple if you have people who can teach.
(Blades of Valour): He just has that Synbios Swagger enough said.
(Blades of Valour): Draekar says: "Synbios if sunbeams sparkle off that I'll kill you where you stand."

    (Party) Halos says, "Disbar?"
(Party) Draekar says, "You know here we have disbar."
(Party) Draekar says, "And over there we have datbar."

  • Been a nice 9.6 years for me. Overall Achaea seems a lot easier to be mid-tier now. Sure the higher things (top-tier combat) are harder now since arties and advanced systems. But back when I started requirements for houses were so much harder, as was doing everything else. ACP was a dream come true for us all.

I'd agree that the issue with retention is that so many people aren't interested in a game you have to actually try and have to self-motivate. Easy goals in WoW or random lolzs in League are what people seem to be enjoying now.

That being said... I'd like to see more coded hang holding for novices. Teach them about the game more with some limited interaction with players. Don't completely break the contact though because the player interaction is what makes Achaea great.
  • Related to my age: I just realized, upon looking at old posts, that I will have played Achaea as Trevize for ten years in July.

It really is interesting to see how the layout of game ages has changed from teens/early 20s to mid 20s-early 30s. But I guess like everyone else has said its because so many of us have stuck around instead of being super fresh new people.

I put 24-26 since my birthdays in less than 2 months so w/e.
(Mhaldor's Next Top Model): Melodie says, "Get rekt scrubbbbb."
(Mhaldor's Next Top Model): You say, "Scrubbbssss."
(Mhaldor's Next Top Model): Trey says, "Austere was hangin' out the passenger side of his best friend's ride, apparently."

It's also because this generation of gamers isn't ready for hardcore RP. Moar Battlefi3ld!
Tvistor: If that was a troll, it was masterful.
I take my hat off to you.

I'm 20, and I've been playing off and on for about 7 years. I think I had just turned 13 when I started.

Looking back at my first novice newspost in the Sylvans, I can't help but cringe. Sooo awkwaaard. :S

    EDIT: In fact, here!

    VIRIDI NEWS #552
    Date: 09/02/2006 at 05:38
    From: Viridi Soludra, the Forestwalker
    To  : Everyone
    Subj: Uh... hi?

    Hi, I'm Soludra..and I honestly don't know what to write. I'm a male
Rajamalan, and I'm a Sylvan, and... Hehe. I joined the Sylvans (both as
a class and as a house because I like, for one thing, being helpful.
Another thing is that I was, and still am new, and I guess I wanted to
    be part of a group of people who could help me out. I'm glad I joined;
it turns out, when I made my grove, it was south of Sephira'sgrove, east
of Sephira's protege Siva's, and close enough to Samhain's. All S's,
    see?

So... I guess I'll end this. I don't really know what else to write,
    hehehe.

    ~Soludra, the Forestwalker

    >_<
  • Voting Soludra for most confusing 'is it male or female?' name ever.

  • Soludra Ar'thela, the Sapient Cartographer (male Rajamala).
    ...
His warcry: 'I'm MALE, for pity's sake!'

It's an amalgam of "Solar" and "Dragon". The kicker: I'm not even level 80, and I'm not a Mitran anymore. Clearly, I didn't think this one through.

My first character's name was an amalgam of "Dragon," too. I ended with -dro to avoid gender confusion. #:-S

@Soludra Xenomorph posted his first 'shameful' news post somewhere on the forums, and it was waaaay worse than that.

Also my age section is now wrong :( Should have just picked 24-26 even though I was months off turning 24 at the time.

  • I do wish a couple of things:
1.) Players my age could appreciate the great things about Achaea like I do, and not refuse to play because there are no pictures (babies)
2.) If they were to play, wouldn't do stupid things like snuggle me and could act maturely :/

@Alcinae We must restore honor to us 17 year olds, or whatever you are!!
