Saeva is a feminine form of the latin word meaning..
Definitions:
cruel, harsh, severe
fierce/ferocious
savage
vehement
violent/wild/raging
And while Achaea Saeva is really not those things on the surface, hah, it came from from another MUD I played. I had a legionary character named Saeva Nox and she had a pretty ugly backstory and a very harsh and severe attitude. I can probably count on one hand the amount of times she laughed in her existence. Not sure why I chose to carry over a character name. I just did.
Would have picked something different had I known I'd still be playing after so many years, but I liked the way the name looked and seemed unique enough to fit into a fantasy setting. However, it's just my real name spelled backwards.
Though, I've heard it pronounced differently than I originally intended and I think those pronunciations are even better.
I got my name from a book I read years ago, The Transmigration of Timothy Archer by Philip K. Dick. It was the name of a mushroom or something and it was special somehow. I don't remember exactly, and I loaned my copy to someone and never got it back.
A little Googling tells me it's Hindi for "extraordinary". Neat. And "anokhi adat" apparently means "trick". Hmm...
originally this name was just something random that just popped in my head, but recently I've done some research on if it actually means anything.
And stumbled upon this : Ethiopian woman who became the second wife of Moses was named Tharuis or Tharvis.
...I can't change my name anymore, can I?
Aurora says, "Tharvis, why are you always breaking things?!" Artemis says, "You are so high maintenance, Tharvis, gosh." Tecton says, "It's still your fault, Tharvis."
Oh, why the hell not. I like making poor decisions about opening my mouth.
I was something like 13 when I made Kei, and I don't even rightly know where I got it from, just that I was using it in a bunch of places and on IRC I used the nick LadyKei. It might have come from a brief glance at the anime Dirty Pair for all I remember.
Hey guess what, alts have stories too, and my alts are pretty much public knowledge anyway.
Starkeeper was an Occultist I made a long time ago when they still had Necromancy, and I wanted something sort of mysterious. It was also the name of an elf I played in a D&D game who became the avatar off Shar. I never bought credits and she died, though.
Edit: My elf was named Starlight, but the name's roots are the same.
Bydar, a garish-looking trader says, "I'm not a man, I'm an experience."
@Mithridates : Mhhmhh, that's why I teased you so much when you created your character.
Siduri is an aspect of the Mesopotamian goddess Ishtar/Inanna. Basically the badass version of Aphrodites/Venus, since she is also the goddess of Booze and War.
Long version: My sister just found out she was pregnant, and she was contemplating names. Her and her husband had already decided on a boy's name but couldn't decide on a girl's name. She is obsessed with the movie Elf and watches it year round. She said she loved the name Jovie and I said I also loved it, it was unique without being weird, and is easily pronounced, and I was so so so on board and trying so hard to push for the name Jovie when they found out it was a girl. Well, her husband is Mexican and so some members on his side of the family don't speak English. Her MIL came by and when they said 'Jovie' she said that she hated the way his side of the family pronounced it (ho-vey). They ended up naming her Saoirse (WE ARE NOT IRISH), which no one can even freaking pronounce, and I just call her Baby SiSi. I still wish they had just named her Jovie. They could have called her Vie or Jo or Joey or JoJo or Vivi, or a multitude of awesome nicknames. But I love my sister and my niece's middle name is my first name and so I guess that will be a win-win for everyone.
Short version: I stole the name from Elf. I'm ashamed.
But gosh darn
it, if there do exist some people who just can't handle the uniqueness
of your snowflake... - Mathonwy
Okay, so I was bored and found Achaea in a banner ad on a manga website. I decided to try it out, and figured I would use the name of the protagonist of the shitty Yugioh Gx fanfic that I was writing (I am a weird dude). But Iggy was taken. So then I figured "Well I've been watching a lot of NCIS lately!" so I tried Gibs. Nope, in use. So I smooshed those two together and ended up with Gibbi somehow.
Then either later that year or the next year, ICarly became a thing, and then apparently there's a Gibbi there too. I've had this pointed out at least twice now.
I wanted to make a Monk, and Rohai was the name of one of my favorite forms from way back when I used to do karate. Plus I think it sounds cool. I have since learned that the Ashura have a Kohai title, so it's a good thing I went with Targossas and not Ashtan.
There is an instakill with force where you just make a Mhaldorian 'tell Tvistor Evil is stupid' then run back to your city and wait for the execution deathsight.
Sooooo, I need to find myself a random Mhaldorian to force now because that made me giggle.
As for my name, I'm a Brit with a bit of an obsession for all things Cowboy/Indian and Calamity Jane was on in the background during my creation and I found myself singing along to the Black Hills of Dakota and tada! Here I am.
I added a letter obviously as I thought it might be taken
I wanted to be named "Ancient-tomato-that-has-a-slightly-yellowish-ribbon-attached-to-it-and-that-makes-a-funny-sound-when-you-squeeze-it", but the name was already in use, so I changed a few letters and ended with "Iocun".

I also like the letter K.
I like 4 letter names.
Kros sounded stupid.
I now like 5 letter names.
