  • It's only illegal not to pay tithes if Jurixe/Antidas/Jiraishin catch you. Remember that, children.

I feel like Sylvance's post is based on theft from the yonder years as oppose to now.

Also the standard for surviving against Carmain is 7.5 seconds.

    10 seconds? Pah.

Yes, it is based on that.  I'm not complaining about the current theft system (I'll leave that to the Serps), I'm complaining about the constant bawling of "Can we please go back to the golden age of theft"
You forgot to reply (apologise) to the important part of my post.

Tithes were always easy to avoid. Probably moreso now with the current state of HWHO. B-)

(Party): Mizik says, "This can't possibly go wrong."
  • The current state of HWHO is 'Tvistor', 'Antidas' and then it stops listing names, because you don't need to worry about anyone else at HR 3.
  • Can still pull off grand scams though!
  • Shop theft is still possible, which is where the big money has always been.

Actually, theft is pretty easy now. People don't put up basic defenses and they idle for long periods of time. I do feel the need to constantly WHO B, but that's my prerogative. I usually do this while gambling away all my earnings in Hashan's casino. Or winning massive amounts. It's a bit like theft, you either get a buttload or you wasted your time and money on buying eye sigils, etc. I know that some people are totally against theft, and I get it. But, theft is an amazingly fun game mechanic that once you start is highly addictive. It is an all out rush. So, if you get addicted easily and don't want to be seen as a total @sshole by the rest of the world, then don't ever try it. It's a bit like PK I'm made to understand.

What I miss is that old theft was really difficult to pull off. I used to put things in the wrong order all the time, or forget to make people remove said item. Since you were tentative and knew you were probably going to get caught there was a lot more potential for error. I miss trying to figure out what the best way to pull off a theft was and figuring out little tricks. New system has tricks, they're just not as dynamic or interesting.

Like PK that consists of stabbing with voyria and hoping your opponent doesn't have immunity.

Yeah, they do that. Don't let them get to you.
  • That's a legitimate strategy.
  • I sorely miss the old theft. The majority of my time was spent as a 'thief hunter'. Then, with the theft nerf, it became extremely hard to find a suitable target. So get out there and start stealing sly serpents! My mace grows rusty!

Weren't you the guy that just started unprepped judgement on random thieves? 0.0

Hi, how've you been? (also can a spiritual mace get rusty?)
  • Yep, he's the one :)

Akaya wasn't a thief hunter.  Akaya tried to piety/unprepped judge me 20+ times because I used to be in the Naga.  I didn't rob anyone.  He wasn't a thief hunter, just some guy who used that as an excuse to farm xp.

  • Lol I'm pretty sure he also died in atleast 90% of his "thief hunts".

Can you ever really prep judgment, though? :P

Dinner and a movie, at least.

    edit: fixed the quotebox crap

  • There are an amazing amount of people out there that fall victim to an uprepped judgement. Nicia and Cahin to name a couple...

Most of the tricks I know and used to use for shop theft are either no longer available, or explicitly stated as 'against the rules'

The only two remaining options really are to prism and hope they're really bad at everything, or waiting around in phase with 'evade down' typed out and your enter key held down.

    Neither are very exciting options.

    Nevermiiind.

EDIT: Oh yeah, what Trance said too. Shop theft is boring anyway.
  • The only time that I fell to an unpreped judgment was the time that Antidas gave me "directions." If you didn't notice, it never happened again. Ciao.
  • Everyone's allowed to die to easily avoided setups once. I got shattersected like a bitch a few days ago....

  • Can still force someone to drop/give shop keys iirc.

  • Akaya raises a spiritual mace over Cahin to pass judgement on his sins, and it begins to crackle with righteous fire.
  • @Nicia You're probably the best sport I've seen about it. No hiring. No snubbing. Bravo.
  • @Akaya hey, i never hired or snubbed you! Also I'm ashamed to say you did manage to get me once, because i was trying to fit a hypnosis into the judgement time and mistimed it by just a little bit lol. I felt very stupid afterwards

Everyone falls for Akaya's judgments at least once. The train of thought usually goes like this:

"Is he really trying that, unprepped? What a newb."
"I'll just finish what I was doing, won't even break stride."
"Just have to peace/prone/paralyze/etc him real quick..."
"WTF, HOW DID THAT EVEN HAPPEN?"
    "I'm the newb."
