please no. Anyone who's ever been to a real band camp knows the score. (pun intended.) Pisses me off to no end when some jackass hears 'band camp' and they immediately try to be witty with That Quote. If that's all you think you know about band camp, STFU.

Kind of harsh. I did about seven years with the flute and was just learning the piano before a horse riding accident damaged the joints in my fingers.
Our band camps were about four hours outside the city, on the edge if a giant man-made lake. Some of the school excursions and child centre sleep overs went to the same place. It was a beautiful area and I always enjoyed the visit.

@kyrra my response wasn't aimed at you. Kresslack had responded to yours.
I'm glad your camps were so awesome. Ours were on the worn out practice field in back of the actual stadium for high school, then on the field right next to the music building (before they put a parking garage there and made everyone hike up to north campus. The sousa players were less than thrilled.
Those sorts of camps sound less than thrilling.. and definitely not as encouraging.

Yeah our music camps were usually in secluded mountainous regions 4-5 hours out from our city. Was great to wake up at sparrow's fart to a beautiful sunrise in the mountains, and we'd rehearse outside too so you'd get to see all the parrots dive bomb into the shiny tuba and have all us string/percussion people plaugh at the player. Seriously the only good memories I had in high school.

I used to play the flute- so whenever I brought up the instrument I used to play I would ALWAYS hear it. It was ridiculous. -_-

A lot of these are very inaccurate (or at least severe over-generalisations). At least half of those British things are also true of much (possibly most) of the U.S.

Well. Time for an awesome thing (to stay on topic) that's also applicable to current thread of discussion:
