Having my MRI interview today. I have waited on the list for 1 year and 6 months, and I already find myself extremely lucky to score an interview this early, given the fact that it has a long specialization waiting list.
There's only 4 spaces available. Wish me luck!
"Mummy, I'm hungry, but there's no one to eat! :C"
Got home from work tonight and enjoyed the most delicious, steaming bowl of chili ever. About halfway through said bowl, my glasses slip from my face straight into my delightful chili.
Mishgul wanted Jesus to fix my banner. Neither of us could get it right
Had a surprise visit from No'kom'tha Peshikthe (My grandmother Deer). She had my mother trailing behind her with a few wrapped boxes. She handed me the family recipe book with a few extra scribbled in pages. The pages were written by my grandfather who had passed away on my birthday last year.
I opened the boxes one at a time, and realized that Grandmother had bought me this mixer, and all of these extensions. Part of what I'm standing in front of is a noodle cutter. One of the things I had mentioned to Grandma that I was going to miss this year for thanks giving, now that no one knows how to make Grandpas noodles.
She said it was going to go to my elder cousin, but he is no longer with us. She had thought about it, and decided that it is now my family tradition to carry.
I'll be getting a DSLR camera soon, which I'm excited about getting into photography. Brace yourselves, noobish photos of wildlife and randomness are coming.
I had a roast lamb lunch at my mamma's house today. With gravy and potatoes and vegetables and omg home-cooked food that isn't just a box from the oven nnnghhh
Mah new job rocks! Working in mah pjs, messing around on Achaea/forums for downtime. Just awesome.
It's great to have jobs like this where the environment isn't uptight and unnecessarily strict. Enjoy!
The environment is my bedroom ^_^
We really need an 'Envy' button now :P
Aurora says, "Tharvis, why are you always breaking things?!" Artemis says, "You are so high maintenance, Tharvis, gosh." Tecton says, "It's still your fault, Tharvis."
So tomorrow, I am going to Best Buy to get my first grown-up phone.
By "grown-up", I mean not a phone so cheap that if I broke it (assuming this is even possible) or lose it, I'll be more worried about the numbers than the phone itself. A prepaid free piece of crap phone used for emergency/business calls only. Indeed no, I will no longer have these safety phones, so dense in plastic that you wonder if it could swim for an hour.
I am getting a smart phone. And not just any smart phone - I am getting a samsung galaxy s5.
Through Black Friday deals and a little magic, it is all so close, now. I expect tonight it will be difficult to sleep due to a much unfamiliar feeling of excitement, not unlike Christmas. I have never owned such a thing before (much less such an expensive thing), and it brightens my day to begin to slowly join the technological world. No longer will my middle schoolers outshine me with their iPhones. No longer will travelling be quite so boring!
I can't wait.
Side small rant: Holy hell shopping for a phone, a decent service provider (paying attention to both price and coverage), a phone case, and a screen protector is an absolute headache. I have learned so much about cell phones, their technology, service providers, types of cases, screen protectors (which is a whole other form of hell to figure out), and etc these last two or so weeks that I could probably get hired at a mobile store. I am happy to have finally settled on everything I want, but getting there was a real pain in the ass.
And I love too Be still, my indelible friend That love soon might end You are unbreaking And be known in its aching Though quaking Shown in this shaking Though crazy Lately of my wasteland, baby That's just wasteland, baby
@Melodie, great thing about those is you can sync your contacts to a
gmail account instead of just your SD card. That way, if you lose/damage
your phone beyond use, you still have all your contacts.
There's
also an awesome app that was developed since AirG was/is so buggy and
basically useless, called AirDroid. Let's you connect to your phone
wirelessly to transfer pictures, music, videos, review conversations,
transfer files, etc without needing to connect via usb.
I gave my Galaxy to my father and am getting the AQUOS Crystal to try it out:
Thankfully gmail is what I use anyway, so that should be easy peasy!
I admit I am somewhat terrified of the learning curve ahead to figure out what all these phones do. I feel utterly dumb in the face of how much technology has grown since I turned 16 or so. It's a scary world. It should be fun though!
Thanks for the tips, will definitely keep in mind. I've got 280182018 things to learn no doubt.

They're not difficult to learn, but be prepared to spend like three hours just playing around with it and setting it up the way you want when you first unbox it (not because they're tedious to set up, but part of the fun of a smartphone is discovering what it can do and the level(s) of customisation available). I don't think I've ever filled up the five available screens worth of app and widget space on my smartphone, but it has plenty of room if you do end up using a lot of apps regularly and want to access them quickly.
Main thing I always used mine for was keeping up with work stuff on the go, emails, files, and navigation. Plus, texting is better because you don't have to smash the same key three times to get one letter. Using the digital keyboard might take some getting used to (I remember I could send a text from my pocket on my old Nokia), but then you can get introduced to Swype which I've always liked due to how quickly it lets you reply to messages and type stuff out. Will take some practice and a little calibration to get it fine tuned, but basically instead of pressing a key for a letter you just tap a letter then slide your thumb/finger across the screen to spell the word out as you go.
I spent 8 hours last night in a cooler. With frostbite on my hand. When I got off work, I couldn't feel my hands... and still had to drive to pick my mom up from work and then head home.
Rave:
Totally applying to work the cooler from now on because 1, I get left alone, and 2, more money! Pretty sure I will get it too since the both my managers want me back there now

Why would you want to work from your bedroom? The living room or dining room seems much better.
Short answer? My roommate(s).
Long answer? One of my roommates is a psycho who has literally scared me bad enough I've locked myself in my room, surrounded myself with the surplus of point objects I have (and a hatchet), curled up in a corner behind my bed, and waited for a couple of hours because I was worried he would break into my room at any moment and possibly kill me. And it's his house I live in.
Yeah, moving across the country and finding a place to live via craigslist has it's downsides...
I've been edging around the decision for months, but instead of a new phone or more mysterious text-based currency, I decided to go ahead and buy a new drawing tablet. My old one (a small intuos3) has been with me for many, many years and works fine, but now there will be less angry, territorial growling when my sister borrows it.
I am very, very excited for it to arrive.
If you need me, you can find me sporadically on the Achaea Discord as Yae. Do not DM on forums unless you're ok with waiting a couple months!
