When was that? Pretty sure my NES and SNES were both over $100 (though not by a lot).

NES and SNES both launched at $200 in the US, I think. I can't find any consoles that were under $100.

Wikipedia says $150 for the Action Set (NES, two controllers, zapper, Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt dual cartridge), which is what I was remembering getting. That actually seems a bit high, as my recollection is that when my siblings and I were saving up for it, it was ~$30 each between the three of us. But that was also like 1st or 2nd grade, so memory probably not reliable.

That bundle wasn't released until 2 years after the nationwide US launch, though. Doing a bit more research (I'm still not 100% sure, since there are some conflicting sources, but most seem to agree), it looks like the cheapest bundle (2 controllers and Super Mario Bros.) was $199.99, and the deluxe bundle (2 controllers, Zapper, R.O.B., Gyromite, and Duck Hunt) was $249.99.
  • Huh. I actually miscalculated. Bought my PS1 for around $300, PS2 for the same price as well.

    Ah well. *shrug*

    Super Hexagon!

It's a small indie game which is actually quite fun. It's on 67% off of steam (0.99 USd, 1.66 USD for 2-pack). Warning though. If you're epileptic, not recommended that you play it!

"Mummy, I'm hungry, but there's no one to eat! :C"

  • GDI @Ruth. Getting me addicted to a game that I'm bad at.

  • Any complaining about the price of the Xbox One (can't say I'm thrilled about it) will feel better by imagining those of us who paid the inflation-adjusted equivalent of over $1100 ($600 in 1996 dollars) for the 3DO (which was awesome right until you ran out of games to play, which happened quickly...I remember being so impressed I could use it to play CDs as well as games. Heh.) or the NeoGeo back in 1991, I think.

  • I'd honestly really be worried if I was an Xbox customer. The way they have been presenting themselves so far leaves a lot to be desired. It's like they don't care at all about consumer feedback.

For $89.99 to alpha test for them? God, no. That's the worst deal ever.

Oh man, there goes my free time for the next two years.

Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance is my favorite strategy game/RTS of all time, hands down. If the team manages to create something similarly awesome, I will weep with joy. If, on the other hand, they create something dumbed down like Supreme Commander 2 was, then may they suffer an infestation of the lice of a thousand camels.

I have the same feeling RE: supreme commander. I am really look forward to this. After seeing a planet get totally decimeated by a nuke in one of the trailers too. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Hmm. Paint me concerned after watching the demo from their Kickstarter again.

What I want from SupCom 3, or "Planetary Annihilation" is:
    * Really big maps and the ability to smoothly zoom all the way out and then all the way in.
    * Resource generation vs resource discovery (the latter is more like Starcraft and is better suited for its smaller scale battles)
    * Giant armies of hundreds of units
    * Experimentals. Must have a fun selection of massive units to aspire to.
    * Land, air, and sea units. And maybe space units in this game given the multi-planet focus?

    Some Supcom love.

    Total Annihilation still the best.

    TA4lyf.

Supcom was AMAZING though. I just can't seem to play it at all. Feels so different than TA.

  • DaslinDaslin The place with the oxygen
The Last of Us. I'll admit, sadface for the scene at the beginning. But, neato so far.
  • I was aware of Planetary Annihilation too. I watched the interview. I think PA is going to be awesome.

I just survived a long session of Baldur's Gate EE with my best friend. I kept telling him...Achaea is more fun! Come on! He would be the perfect blademaster.

Now it is time to pay a visit to the realms now.

  • Ugh the xbox one exclusives look so good. Too bad it's a bit pricey and the online requirement 24/7 thing.

Also want a wii U now. Megaman, villager, so cool.
  • Playing Bioshock de Infinite

  • There's a Torchlight giveaway on GOG right now! I got it. Looks great!
