Hunting targetting

Changing targets while hunting is really frustrating. I think a new base name should be added to target everything cellularly complex.

This is a bad idea for several reasons:

1. It encourages autobashing and would make creating the necessary scripts even easier.

2. It takes away any separation of thing you are meant to kill and thing you are not meant to kill, such as quest denizens. 

3. It encourages a 'just kill it' mentality, which (in my opinion at least) takes away from some of the really good imagery some of the areas can give. Look at Istarion, then look at Underworld. One is a huge beautiful area with all kinds of different things. The other is just 'undead' with wisp and ictheli. When was the last time you probed a zombie, or a ghoul? The descriptions on some things are really amazing.

4. The above-mentioned imagery is part of what makes Achaea so unique. Why take it away just so you can autobash without paying attention to anything? 

5. There are already areas similar to this ('undead' in Underworld, 'mhun' in Moghedu, etc) and it is part of why they are so popular. Try bashing there. 

6. This would also take away some of the feeling of reward you might get when you discover a new bashing area with easy targets. 

7. I think there are thousands of NPCs out there. This would have to be added to each and every one, and who knows how complex that would be. The payoff of enabling laziness would not be worth the precious coder time.

8. This sends the message to builders that good xp/good bashing > good area design, good+varied descriptions, good quests, and all the other little things that make PvE in achaea so unique.

9. This is codeable client-side. Make an alias that attacks everything you can think of, and gag the lines. If it crashes mudlet, just try again. If it still crashes, restart your computer and try again. If it still crashes, defragment your computer and try again. If it still crashes, reinstall windows and try again. If it still crashes, buy a new computer and try again. If it still crashes, unplug your computer and plug it back in.

Kinda frustrating that you would make a troll thread, put it in the Dais (which will inevitably take up someone's Admin time), then make fun of people that took the time to address it constructively, THEN make fun of Jacen for not addressing it constructively. this does not count as constructive. 

And troll thread or no, we've had problems before (on a Sylvance thread, no less) with tearing people down for no reason. It could have been a simple (and massively obvious) joke that an admin could quickly skim, give a derisive smirk, and reply to with a witty denial comment before closing.

Instead we have people being called stupid, and others being called asshats. (btw, @Shirszae, you're an asshat)

Right. This thread. I'm not actually sure what the point of it was. Something about people putting down ideas too hard? It would probably be a lot easier to demonstrate that if the proposed idea wasn't a (mediocre, but who am I to judge) joke.

Like, some people actually took the thread seriously, wherein you suggest they would be stupid for doing so. Then someone didn't take the thread seriously, so you suggested it was stupid to do so.

Then naturally, this makes Shirszae the asshat. Not only is an asshat biologically impossible (also distasteful) but Shirszae is also pretty cool.

I'm not actually going anywhere with this, I just think something mildly entertaining should come out of this thread before it gets closed down anyway, and this is more fun than researching Australian politics. They have a party called the Sex Party here though, which is pretty great.

Once again, you're blowing me away with new depths of dumb. Can you really not see the difference between these two scenarios?:

#1 - Someone posts a terrible idea and gets flamed

#2 - Someone posts a troll idea, gets flamed, then gloats that it was a troll idea and TROLOLOLO yer s0 dumb 4 fallin for it innit and the rest of you is dumb 4 not fallin for it, then gets flamed some more and says WAAAAAAAAAH, everyone's so mean to me!

I just like the part where posts that aren't even WTF-able get wtf's. Like this one.

But what's even more glorious than the self-justified Xith-bashing posts is the fact that all this snowballed angst gets built up through a thread, and then you go back and read the original post and think "Wow, this wasn't even that bad. It's actually sort of amusing if you understand just what kind of fellow is behind it."

It's more the fact that people have no idea when to take me seriously or when not to that really gets me off.

And that so many people still don't realize the preceding fact just makes me feel way more mysterious than I'm trying to be.

Engine of chaos? No. Self-parodying public punching bag? Sure.

Did I take a gamble on the fact that more than just myself would be entertained? No, cause I'm confident that a percentage of our playerbase is smart enough to know what a "eukaryote" is. Maybe it was dry humour. Maybe moist.
