I always envisioned him as having a more ancient Greek style as well, but the Aztec type flavour really works. He's an extremely old God, and this type of style actually shows that rather well. I think this works to a much better degree than any Greek clothing or armour coul.
I can actually see him appearing in this style over at the Seat of Vastar. It works. The Seat of Vastar is an ancient place within an overgrown jungle, with an isolated group of inhabitants. The old buildings themselves are broken and worn, though the settlement still survives and possibly thrives. I should shut up now, or I'll be at it all day.
@Sarapis, you can't just be like, "By the way this is an area which you cannot even have fathomed (thereby excluding everything in the world even only @Delphinus knows about, and also meaning it's not a Meropis expansion, etc.)" and then just go about your business. Details, man! Or at least a timeline. Please?
Commission List: Aesi, Kenway, Shimi, Kythra, Trey, Sholen .... 5/5 CLOSED I will not draw them in the order that they are requested... rather in the order that I get inspiration/artist block.
I really do enjoy it when I can just give an unqualified compliment. This is, simply, awesome. Exactly on a par with the Ourania portrait. It's unexpected too. I didn't really have any set expectations for what Vastar should look like, but I wouldn't have guessed this - and it pretty clearly hints at a whole new world.

It's like it's painted with all the colors of the wind.

Surely Vastar has no one to tell him no, and where he may go...
Oh no, he's only dreaming.
And I love too Be still, my indelible friend That love soon might end You are unbreaking And be known in its aching Though quaking Shown in this shaking Though crazy Lately of my wasteland, baby That's just wasteland, baby
Fixed for you. And now the whole Sky vs Sea fighting takes on an entirely different, if fanfictiony, aspect.
Vastar and Neraeos: Ladies, ladies, contain yourselves. There's enough Sky and Sea for every one of you.
Blood and Thunder! Victory at Sea!

Also, I do wish the point of attachment for his wings was raised ever so slightly, so that they look like they're emerging from his shoulderblades, rather than his lats.
I've personally always had issues with winged folk where the wings come out of the shoulderblades. I know it's not real but there's no realism at all about being able to fly with wings there. There's no support.
I always think of wings being more connected to the back and utilising the back muscles more to not only assist in getting airborne but also hovering ( free levitation def ).
I love how Vastar's wings are done and how they are connected. It doesn't look like they'll just snap off if he runs into a low hanging branch or something.

Look at bat wings though. They have the wing frame and the.. uh.. gods, I can't think of the term. The membrane that makes up the wings connects back to the body.
That just makes a lot more sense to me in terms of anatomy for winged humanoids, because atavians have arms already and wings are two extra limbs. It's just the way I envision it that allows for it to be more real in my mind.
