Dawnspear is an awesome appellation. A city on a clifftop is awesome. A city on a clifftop over the ocean, flanked by twin waterfalls, is awesome. A city on the largest island of an archipelago is awesome. Brighthold is an awesome name.
I expect it has the mandatory cavern hidden behind a waterfall, and other such awesome things.
I was a little disappointed at first that they didn't decide to settle us in the freezing north, or somewhere similarly harsh, but the actual concept for the city was awesome enough to win me around pretty quickly. The series of islands and the waterfalls, especially with them being clearly mapped out to us at the start as to their purpose, is a really cool image, and I for one like the name. The islands themselves also being named is a really nice touch too.
I'm excited about the opportunity to see the city being "built", even though it'll be a nightmare for us defensively at the start. Watching the streets take shape, seeing the government formed, erecting my gallows in the slums [-O<, will all be great, and that's all on top of having the chance to finally help create a functional, sensible Good theology that people can rally to and have fun with. I also legitimately have faith in Deucora to make this work.
It's stuff like this that keeps people playing Achaea, and putting up with it even when it gets drunk and knocks us around a bit sometimes.
Rich motes of lucent clarity suffuse the skies as the Lightbringer evokes, "Behold: Targossas, the Dawnspear!"
First thought in my mind: "Oh, the Targaryens in Achaea!? Erm... Aurora portrait = Daenerys. She also has dragons: Silas, Veldrin &CO! Coincidence? I think not!!"

When I first read it I thought they just handwaved the city into existence, which was a little disappointing. Then I thought the map looked a little small for a major city. That they created it in a formative state and you're gonna get to build the city up is very cool.
AIBO(Aurora's Infinitely Barking Orb) - Will announce on CT when an enemy steps into its room: (Taragossa) An AIBO says, "'BARK. BARK. INTRUDER DETECTED. BARK. BARK. ALL HAIL THE LIGHT. BARK. BARK."
ASIMOV(Anti-Subterfuge and Infiltration Mobile Overwatch of Valour) - Periodically pulls phased, blackwinded and astraled enemies out of hiding, while advancing on them with adorably slow and not-quite-human-but-getting-there steps. A smiley face is also plastered on its head.
(D.M.A.): Cooper says, "Kyrra is either the most innocent person in the world, or the girl who uses the most innuendo seemingly unintentionally but really on purpose."
I keep reading the title of this thread as "Targossas, the Destroyer" whenever I scroll through the forum discussions. I know that's not what it says, I know it doesn't make any sense, but somehow 'the Destroyer' fits the name Targossas better in my mind than 'the Dawnspear'. The place itself seems really cool, though.

Looks very cool. I like "Brighthold" immensely. I honestly hope that's the name of the new city, though I'm fine with "Targossas" for the area in general.
-- Grounded in but one perspective, what we perceive is an exaggeration of the truth.
I was hoping for a fortress in a cold and harsh wasteland towards the north where we could really get a completely different swing of RP going. What we got however is really nice and it grows on me more and more. I actually can't wait to see the city take shape.
Massive thanks to @Aurora as well for the little things she has been doing, including an awesome tidy up and support for the recent essence competition we ran. I am sure everyone appreciates the favours too!
I was sold on the concept and layout immediately, but the name... eh. The more I try to use it, the more unnatural (heh) it feels. I keep reaching to type Sargasso, or Logosmas, or pretty much anything but the actual word. There are lots of repeating S's and similar vowel sounds, and for some reason, I feel myself tripping over them.
It's sort of phonetically awkward to me, although that may pass. Generally, I'm used to complex names like Sycaerunax and Yudhishthira being these far-off, once in a blue moon references. A city name, though -- that's monolithic, something we'll use daily or hourly. I'm just looking ahead to the hurdles of that.
Either way, it seems to be decided. Just my two cents, and I'll probably adapt regardless!

Edit: On a serious note. This whole start from scratch and rebuild as we go is damn cool. I love new area.

Yeah, I'm not too keen on the name either, but it definitely looks fun for you guys having your own spot.
What exactly is the new 'theme' of the land and eventual city? I assume the desert theme is being done away with?
