I'm not sure I'm going to be able to make the tea time in game. Wanted to put a few of my quality of life suggestions out here anyway.
I'd really like to make city government stuff more streamlined. I think there's a lot of tedious tasks that need to be done that I don't think people get into city government for. I think it unnecessarily takes away from the time of leaders who would most likely be more productive in using their time for more RP centric things.
1. Would like to see everyone on the city council be able to add to UPCOMING. At the very least have it toggleable per city (new CITY CONFIG?) so that the CL can delegate those tasks.
2. Allow ministers to withdraw directly from funds allocated to them. They are allocated to them for a reason. The check has already been made that it's appropriate. Right now only Admiral and Ambassador can withdraw funds, I think. Defence needs gold for sigils and totems. Interior needs funds for comms. Librarians need funds for journals and manuscripts. Right now they get those funds by cornering the CL and the CL withdraws from Ambassador. Maybe even allow dynamic funds groups that each city can set with dynamic permissions for which ministers are able to withdraw from them.
3. Allow more people to use city spirit. Two people per city that can use it is really prohibitive for the range of use cases you might need to use it in. It forces those to people to manage their real lives around logging in to optimally use maintain, to give hunting benefits to people in all time zones and be on call for any conquests or liberations that may pop up when they aren't in the realms. Again, toggleable if possible so if a specific CL doesn't trust the underlings to manage it properly, but by default city council should be able to use it. Defence aides should also be an option.
4. Allow scheduled city spirit usage. I assume most cities can generally predict a range of spirit they'll have available and know what they want to use that spirit on. I assume most are using maintain on cooldown, but due to it not being used exactly at that time, it slips and inevitably days will be missed and it isn't used. Allow the next use (or 4 for the hunting buffs) to be queued up (and cancelled if needed). That allows the CL to run the command when they're normally logged in rather than having to log in at random times to specifically to run city spirit powers.
5. Revlog should be able to be accessed outside of the city council chambers. I can't think of a single reason for revlog to only be accessed in the council chambers. Make it like all the other logs so it can be monitored.
6. City spirit should be able to be used outside of the war chambers. There are use cases where you want to use it while a battle is ongoing. Make something in the war chamber that can be attuned for a IC day or two.
7. Moving guards around while not being raided. This is a massive timesink if you're looking at overhauling your guard layout and needing to move a lot of guards. Allow the entry of guard movement commands (guardXXXXX move to roomName/Num) that execute after 1 hour of no deaths in the city. Can't be initiated while under sanction.
8. Totem checking. Would be nice if there was a way to get a quick status on all totems instead of having people have to wander about the city and check them. Ditto with empowering. Would be nice to have a way to empower all totems in the city -- 10 min channeled is fine, I will gladly do that over the current way.
9. Having an IC city calendar that people could check would be nice. I understand that UPCOMING is OOC, but it really would be nice to have a place to point people ICly for all the upcoming events. Bonus points if putting something on UPCOMING places it on the IC calendar too.
And a few that aren't related to city governement --
1. Have all items show how they can be interacted with if you probe them. Perhaps no need to include PUSH, PULL, etc.., but anything that's a non-standard interaction should show up. If you need to SQUEEZE a cow to get milk from it, that should show up -- because the players think of SQUEEZE as the emote squeeze which would absolutely not be used to milk a cow.
2. Get rid of hidden items. Items that you read in the room descriptions that don't show up on INFO HERE. As players we rely on INFO HERE to show us the objects in the room that can be interacted with. If you wish to hide items, put more non-descript items in rooms that don't do anything when you interact with them.
