Mudlet is not connecting to Achaea: This is making me sad

So I have this computer that runs windows vista.  It is fairly old but I don't think TOO old.  Anyway, I downloaded Mudlet 2.0 and tried to run it but every time I try to log in, it just freezes when it gets to the "Enter your name or choose an option above" line.  And when I try to enter my name or choose an option above, nothing happens.  

I've tried connecting through port 23 and 2003 but neither of them works. I've tried disconnecting my firewall and then running it but that doesn't work either.  

Any ideas? help? suggestions?  Anything would be much appreciated.

I uninstalled 2.0 and installed 1.1.0 instead. 

And then I got this error message

What does this mean? I don't know if it's related to my current problem with 2.0.  Thanks for all the help

Nothing happens after connection was established? Does telnet, or the web client work?

@Vadimuses I have no idea. How do I check?

I can log on to achaea through flash and nexus but html5 also doesn't work for me

If this is a laptop, are you able to connect from another wifi network?

@Vadimuses Just the guest network. I tried it; it didn't work either.  

The thing is, I can get on achaea through html5 on other computers in my house although I've never tried mudlet.  Is it possible my laptop is just weirdly not connecting as well for some reason?

It seems to be the case. I don't think it's a Mudlet-connecting problem, but I don't have ideas on what else to try as well - besides a firewall.
