Race, stats and other questions

edited May 2018 in Runewarden
Hello, I'm new to Achaea,  therefore I have many questions.

My current situations are :
  • Currently playing troll, with level bellow 15
  • Slow connection (~200ms), so I guess no momentum based class, no 2H
  • Not planning to artie, at least for now
  • However, soon or later, I will purchase the no-brainer lessons package
  • Still brand new in Achaea, but played casually (no pvp) in Lusternia
  • Although still new in here, I'm planning to do pvp later
  • Preferably, playing with generic reflex (scripts which already available for free in the forum), with minor adjustment, and doing minor scripting.
  • I'm not planning to be the top 100 or anything. I just aim not to be suck / be a bottom feeder in pvp
  • I'm not sure if I will do 1v1 or in the group later, still new, no friends nor houses yet
  • Currently playing using Nexus, but I have Mudlet and Mushclient too. At least, I can create simple trigger and alias using them. For now, I'm just curious about Nexus

Anyway, I'm still doubting about the race and its stat. Regarding the race, should I choose :
  • Troll with its electric resist and stun chances, combined with Runewarden's DWB
  • Human with its crit chance and sip bonus chance, with DWC for attack speed. I heard crit is more important for late game
  • Rajamala, for avoidance and cold resist. I heard cold attack is more common than electric
  • Tash'la, not sure about the racial trait, but with Tash'la, I can make 15 str / 14 con (str trait, str spec). Unfortunately, the dex is only 11
  • Dwarf for the resists, and I can make 14 str /14 con, also with only 11 dex

Now, my question :
  • Is it better to sacrifice dex for a better str / con, for pvp? For example, should I substract the dex to 11 dex (for more str/con), or should I try to keep the dex at 12?
  • Should I maximize str (to 15 or 16), or should I try to balance it with con? I heard about diminishing return on str and wondering about this
  • With above situation, which race and weaponspec is suitable for my runewarden?
  • What's the priority of skill groups that needed to be transed, and which skills should be taken, minimum, in order to be an average pvp?
  • Any scripts recommended for runewarden pvp?

Thank you, and sorry if I ask many questions

Comments

  • One more question, I'm not sure why I can't edit my post
    • For above races option, I always sacrifice int for a better str. In fact, I choose to sacrifice int rather than sacrifice dex. Is that a wise decision?

    Hi, welcome to Achaea!

    - Dexterity is important only for a select few classes. Every other stat will be more valuable to you as a Runewarden, even intelligence. Don't feel bad about sacrificing it.

    - Strength has diminishing returns for direct damage, but your finisher for everything but DWB (Disembowel) scales directly to it. That being said, survival is the name of the game when it comes to leveling up, so particularly without artefacts you'll probably get more value from the constitution. You can change your specialisation/traits later if you find that you're lacking finishing power but surviving fine.

    - All races and weaponspecs are absolutely viable. Pick the one that feels the most fun for you and the character you want to play. Of the races you're mulling over, I would recommend Dwarf or Tash'la, as they provide the most survivability. I think DWC is probably the most versatile choice for weaponmastery spec, and if you're not looking at 2H that would be my recommendation. Note that this can also be changed later if you don't like what you've picked.

    - You'll want to aim for tri-trans in your class skills, as well as Survival and Avoidance. Some Riding is also valuable, but the former are more important.

You will definitely want to try to find someone in-game to use as a resource for these and more detailed questions. I recommend joining a house, since they'll provide a lot of structure and opportunities to learn and develop your character.

  • I play 2H, DWB, Dragon and Firelord with a ~200ms ping no problem.

    (Party): Mezghar says, "Stop."

    Thank you for the explanation.

Int more instead of dex, that's new info for me.

That means Xoran probably eligible too, with 14 str/10 dex/14 con/12 int (traited str, con spec)

Nice. I guess, It depends on the player too then

  • First of all, 200 ping is irrelevant. Especially with queuing, it's a minor disadvantage at best, and not something that should steer your class choice. There are almost no situations in achaea where you need to react within 200 ms with no forewarning.

As for race choice, maximize strength for a knight if you want to pvp. You "can" go con spec, and several people do, especially for bashing, but knights need high strength to be dangerous in pvp. I'd say it's str > con >>> int >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> dex for a knight
  • Xoran or Tash'la are going to be the best races for STR builds for the most part

Penwize has cowardly forfeited the challenge to mortal combat issued by Atalkez.
  • Weapon damage scales with strength, ground rune damage scales with int, con is always important for not dying, dex is practically unnoticeable without stacking it to an insane degree.

Outside dwb (using pulp), murdering people as runewarden is entirely reliant on having sufficient strength.

High str/con is going to be preferable for your racial choice, you get one free reincarnation/trait reset so starting con then transitioning to str when you're higher level sets you up for an easier progression.

Weaponmastery -> Runelore to runeblades _> Chivalry is a loose order to keep in mind, but you'll want to address attaining all the useful low investment skills before transing everything. Your organisation in game should be able to run you through the details.

Thank you for the explanation. I have general picture of what should be done now

As for weaponspec, I'll try DWC first
