New player looking for a Mentor

Haven't played a mud in years but have been trying out a few the past week and a half wanting to find one that has alot of features id enjoy and think ive found it here.  Looking for a Mentor to help me get up to speed in the game and learn the in's and outs of the Magi. Dont have to play a Magi themselves if they understand the class.  Currently in the city of Ashtan but willing to move, I just sort of picked this one as it said its a port city and one of my first major goals for myself is to get a ship, which I know will be around 5 mil gold for the one I want but hay, ya gotta have goals.

General questions can definitely be directed at @Morthif, @Seragorn, and @me(lots more I'm accidentally skipping).  If you just need a general run down, any house should be capable, but most of the late night crew combat crew know magi well enough to get you started.  If you're wanting raiding advice, defs, attacks ect, @Jadys just wrote a solid help file with information in it in a city clan we can get you inducted to(just ask for ioe induct).  When in doubt, if none of those are around, go to Battlements or Parapets and ask anyone standing there not doing anything (nw,up from gates)

Welcome! I really think it's better to find a mentor in-game. Hang around Ashtan awhile and see if you like it. Join a house -- you don't have to stay but it's a good way to develop relationships early. There are sailors in pretty much all the cities.

IG mentor for IG reasons is best but Austere definitely is on the right track with people to speak with about Magi combat.
