Ever miss having guilds? Overwhelmed by the plethora of options? Just a place to reminisce about a time when things were simpler, more dependent and very different from now. When plants were harvested by druids and dragons were extremely rare. When credits cost 3000 gold.. What do you miss and what has gotten better?

Damn careless bus drivers.
I miss not everything being so dependent on having lots of credits and being super powerful.
BUT I also like the new freedom that Achaea offers now, though there is less intrigue. I love that there are always new ideas and everything is constantly expanding and exploring even without player interaction is already worthwhile.
That love soon might end You are unbreaking
And be known in its aching Though quaking
Shown in this shaking Though crazy
Lately of my wasteland, baby That's just wasteland, baby
Long live bladefire and pills.
The boon where someone hesitated and got a large blob of "um" was excellent.
:frown:
I miss the old houses. So many were a mess, and there were too many of them, but joining a house used to feel like joining a distinct organization with their own interests and goals and identity in the world, and it felt like they supported interesting roles to play that no longer exist. The renaissance improved many things, but the new houses continue to feel formulaic and stale to me in so many cases, and often feel like they have little identity of their own (which is the more interesting house, the Vanguard or the Ashura?). So much history and identity was lost, and even years in there's been little to replace it.
I miss class roleplay. I miss picking my class feeling like a big part of who my character would be, and feeling like it meant more then just a skill set in the world. Multiclass is great for a lot of reasons, but it came with no support for class identities or even in-world explanations, and now classes are talked about as skillsets to collect, and rarely as roles in the world to play. There were always class hoppers that treated classes like this (and I respect that play style, don't get me wrong) but now that's how everyone and everywhere is.
I know that some of the loss of depth for me comes from having played this game for longer, making things that used to be new and exciting into mundane, but I can't help but feel like so many things that drew me into this world now simply don't exist, with no real replacements or attempts at them. I can think of a ton of good gameplay changes that have been made since I started, but I can't think of a single change that's been done for the sake of expanding and supporting roleplay opportunities, and it's left the game feeling more polished, but also far more sterile. Overall, the changes to this game over the last several years have been undeniably good for the health of the game as a game, but feel like they've come at the expense of some of its soul.
