My first artie was a Lasallian Lyre. I later traded it in again when I realized how many attacks went through it and how many things still could strip it, but now I often wish I had it again.
Fire pendant, ultimately traded it in to change class(along with every other artefact I've bought, other than pipes), and in fact have ended up buying two more fire pendants since then which also got traded in for class changes. The important thing is I eventually made it to dragon so I don't need to buy a fourth.
I was gifted three arte vials from the dwarf who is like Santa (memory fail right now) at 18 so those were my first artefacts.
My first genuine purchase though would be my Hunter's Belt. Greatest thing ever for basic Sylvan hunting and took me literally 30 ig years to save up for it.
edit: because I can't spell.
"Faded away like the stars in the morning, Losing their light in the glorious sun, Thus would we pass from this earth and its toiling, Only remembered for what we have done."
Pipes, followed by sip ring. They are my best friends(though I reserve a special place in my heart for my lvl 2 BM band and the eagle wings that I bought during the artie discount event).
Wings. I'd wanted a set since the first time I saw someone vanish from a battlefield with them, and it was my first and only pick once I got the credits.
I think my first artefact was...either wings or a level 2 bow, don't quite remember. Probably wings, because wings amazing for mobility and escaping from raids/forest/tight situations.

Won my first Bardic the same month as the arte sale! Managed to snatch up a SoA and Fire Pendent at a steal. Best thing I have -ever- done with my credits; I wish I'd bought these artes long before putting a single lesson into Harmonics.
Was the wings package with eagle wings, level 1 sip, level 1 crit. I've since traded the sip (to make up the difference for a Buckawn's purchase so worthhhh itttt) and the crit since I don't bash anymore.
Shield of Absorption, Magus ring and Buckawns amulet package.. I was like 20 when I got them and had no clue of what they did, but everyone advised me to get that! Of course I loved them once I figured out
My first artie (wyvernskin pack) I won in a contest rather than buying. The first one I bought was a tailor's license, if that counts as an artie. If it doesn't, it was a Velocity Bow. In both cases I saved up for them rather than having credits to burn-- I actually got a couple of credit loans I didn't ask for on the tailor's license after I showed some designs to someone and she showed them to someone else.

I went for a level 2 sip ring after ranting numerous times on the forums about being the untankiest monk in the game (which I'm not, by a long shot. I'm mostly just a newb). Haven't regretted my purchase since.
My first artefact was one that I earned entirely in-game (actually, nearly all of my stuff is). I ended up forging a total of something silly like 1000 scalemail without a hammer for someone, comms not provided, and I got paid 350cr. I did small jobs to make up the difference, and it has been so useful I could cry. It doesn't make your stuff better, but when you're turning out things twice as fast the potential to earn is doubled, and for years all I did was take jobs and save up for stuff with the occasional fight and RP. Nowadays I'm more balanced between the three.
I'm pretty sure I got SoA or pipes first, not sure though. Seem to remember rage spending my cr on SoA after Cain one shot torso comboed my 2.4k rajamala self (yes, I hold a grudge), but might be misremembering.
The original Anake's Hood. I turned it in for credits at the time under the guise of allowing Merentesh to copy the design in return for payment. Always wanted to buy it back some time. Does it count if I didn't actually buy it?
Staff of illusion. Best purchase I've ever made in a game. Really helped roleplay and to make the sideshow games I coded more realistic. Quickly on the heels of this, a shadowcloak, which, in combination with the staff, allowed me to make my own room entry messages.
"Trust in me, Universe, I will deliver / the promise that no-one shall ever / set their mind to games or play / for Serious Order is the way. I will not rest until it is done; / rules will be made for everyone. / They will know Order and its graces - and just like me, all shall be Greyfaces." - The Heroes of Sapience, Act 5, Greyface.
My first artefact was a Collar or Lupus, which was a gift given to me by a friend I was following who was shopping for arties. I was so stoked because it had taken agonizing weeks to bash up 125k for a gargoyle that I couldn't even ride (though naturally I put most of my lessons into riding from the start because I thought it would be cool to be a mounted sentinel. Derp).
