A very small tweak to put those sauntering swashies in their place.

Here is the dilemma any new ship captain faces. To buy a captain's trunk, or not to buy a captain's trunk.

Without the trunk, swashbucklers will wander into your ships cabin, and if you have a cabin expansion, into that as well. They can then get stuck in there if your expansion has a door, and it is a monumental pain to get them all out. On the other hand, if you do buy the trunk, they cease to patrol your cabin completely and give an enemy boarding party an extremely easy safe zone to retreat into and heal up, which reduces swashbuckler effectiveness as defenders considerably. They will not chase an enemy into a cabin that has a trunk. This is really a problem on a windcutter where your cabin is 1/3rd of the entire ship and your force of swashbucklers is so small to begin with.

Solution:

SHIP OPEN TRUCK - Disables the trunk and causes it to appear as open, just like with the cartographers desk. Swashies can enter and leave the cabin normally.

SHIP CLOSE TRUNK - Enables the trunk and restores it to normal appearance. Swashbucklers will not enter the cabin when the captain desires privacy, or just wants to open the door to her cabin expansion without the blighters all flooding inside en mass.

  • Not much of a personal issue as all my ships are org ones so no expansion. Plus, boarders usually are not going to plan on holing up on a hostile ship. Still, I like the idea overall.
