Making some artefacts wearable?

I had an idea to customise my gem of transmutation and cloaking gem into some gems that would be turned into things that would make sense to be worn and have a worn description to match. I checked with customisations and this isn't something that's available for these items, which is slightly a bummer but not too hung up over it.

I was just wondering if there was a reason that it's not possible. Has it never come up before? Am I missing a fundamental flaw to the idea that can make it abusable? Just would take too much time?

I was under the understanding, if you pay a ridiculous amount, they can change item types.  It is probably because even when you get an artie gem of cloaking customized, it still knows it is a gem of cloaking, which the code picks up on./runs checks for/what have you.  If it isn't a gem, they have to hand key those exceptions for you.  @Antonius‌ would know, I think.

I don't know about different item types, but combining items costs the items in question plus 700 for each item you shove into it (for example, Antonius has dex boots that can dash, costing 500 for the boots, 500 for the anklet and 700 for the combination. Adding something else, say a level 2 sip ring, would cost an additional 1700, 1000 for the artefact, 700 to cram it in there)
