Going to disappear again for a while. Maybe a month, maybe a year - most likely the latter. @Ourania, @Verily and all the rest of the Order, it was awesome. I really enjoyed being back, and I'm sure I will again when I get the chance to return. Hashan. Get it together! I mean, come on now. Quit letting petty things prevent the awesome potential. Spiritwalkers - didn't get to know you all as well as I'd like, I will when I'm back!

As to why, to keep it brief, work keeps getting more and more hectic - we're down much of my department for various reasons, and I'm essentially taking on four jobs at the moment. Two of which we have no viable replacements for, and one we can't get a req approved for some really stupid reasons. On top of that, I'm managing half again the normal number of people in my group, mostly related to the previous. The smart thing to do would be to look for another job, I'm sure - but call me crazy, I have a lot of loyalty to my department and boss.

I'll be back when things chill out. No telling when that'll be.

If you're able to get another job in this shit economy, do it.  Definitely don't stick around for your boss, no matter how nice he seems to be, or actually is.  Unless you're working at a startup and have some real stake in future profits, your employer is simply getting more work for less money, period.  Your boss may or may not fully understand that, but it doesn't really matter.  A friend of mine works for a large government contracting company, and was doing some soul searching some time back.  His boss recognized talent and wanted to promote him, which meant somewhat higher pay, but a LOT more work and stress, that incidentally would benefit the boss of course.  He didn't take it because he already makes plenty, and even has a bit of what people used to call free time.  Either way, good luck to you.

It's a little more complicated, but I do appreciate the concern. (and I am being compensated for the extra work, actually!)

Update for those that care, because I don't any way to get a hold of most of you OOC.

They made the best paying part of what I took over official, and we hired someone to help with the rest (finally found someone capable) so it's getting better! Still have four transitions to manage, including a major overhaul of the recording system, and a lot of training to do... but I'm hoping to be back in a month or two. Honestly much faster than I expected.
