Karaoke could be funny. There's one place that's popular on Sawtelle called Blue. Never been there. All I know in terms of dates is that it must be after July 18th if I'm to join.

Blue is ok, its pretty much a bar where you can sing karaoke. For that kind of place, I recommend Brass Monkey in Ktown (Manny Pacquiao's favorite). There's another one on Sawtelle you can rent private rooms for small parties (less embarrassing).
No students were harmed, there was a homeless lady who used to come through campus every day with a basket and dig through the trash to get recycled stuff students had thrown out, and she was slain.
Campus is still locked down while they investigate fully, but they're letting students return one at a time, under escort, to retrieve items they may have left on campus, or their cars. The library and parking lot 1 are still in complete lockdown during crime scene investigation, and nobody is able to retrieve items or vehicles from those places.
The streets surrounding the area have also been shut down, and there are police and caution tape at every intersection and pathway that leads near the main campus. Officers are from the college, the city, the county, and neighbouring LA, including many swat and bomb squads who were there originally, in addition to the FBI, but have since left the job to regular traffic and patrol officers as well as the sheriffs.
During the event, some students were locked in their classes for up to 5 hours until they were given the all-clear to evacuate, with swat escort. I went to a birthday party for a friend last night (about 45 SMC theatre students), and the conversations always went back, in some way, to this event. A bunch of my friends were the ones locked inside, or had seen the shooter laying dead in front of the sign that proudly declares the school name.
The whole thing is a pain in the butt, and it's really unfortunate that our world breeds people like this. Thanks to all of you who've expressed concern and well wishes. Please also email me a kevlar school uniform for next semester.
It's a great school, when things like this happen it's a big deal, because it's so rare in that part of town.
On a happier note... I'm back from Belize, and if anyone wants to get together in the next week or so, I'd love to. I might even have a way for us to get free all-day passes to the pier, but I can't promise.
Turns out I'll be stage managing another play, this time "Plaid Tidings", which runs from like December 5th to 15th, if any of you are interested in attending. It's at Santa Monica College, like the last one I did.
Bay Area here. I'd be down, since I'm from LA, but I'm probably not going to be back in that direction till November or December and only for a few weeks.
