the Telling of the Cloak

This is related to Event post #448. It's not my best piece of writing, but if I tried to be my normal perfectionist self this would never have seen the light of day. The events in this took place over a span of 2 rl months, and were absolutely fun and off the cuff for me. A huge thank you to everyone who got involved in this!

As the Divine figures turn away from their verbal spar, the Prophet Mannimar de Valois paces fretfully in his chambers trying to devise a way to aid Ourania, Goddess of the Moon in Her conflict. He stumbles into his chair as fatigue overcomes him.  The Prophet pushes his worries from his mind, and gazes at the night sky out of a nearby window. Lost in thought, he recalls the taunts and battles that the Lady had participated in before, and a solution to his worries dawns upon him.

With haste, Mannimar rushes to his stationary and pens a quick missive to the Lord Bard, requesting assistance in his endeavor to help the Lady Moon. Lord Scarlatti soon agrees, after a brief exchange with the Prophet, to pluck a small piece of the comet Ethian from the sky when it passes that next Sarapin. After waiting for a year and some months more, the Bard arrives unannounced at a gathering of Ouranians to flirt with the Lady, only to break away from an embrace to slip a small and cold item to the Prophet with a sly handshake and discreet wink.

His purpose renewed, Mannimar scribes to the Lord Smith, requesting His aid in the creation of the next stage of the gift. With barely any warning, Lord Phaestus makes an appearance in Aitox Ravensong’s grove. Where He immediately sets the Prophet to sewing with a mithril needle, nodding His approval as He observed Mannimar's work.  Mannimar’s gift slowly takes shape under the watchful eye of his nephew and the Lord Smith, only to be completed when he attaches the clasp that the Lord Scarlatti artfully fashioned from the Morning Star.

With only one final step necessary to complete the gift, The Prophet gathers the Spirit Walkers and leads them in a ritual to bless the cloak with protection, focusing upon the elegant clasp, the Tribe worked together to put the finishing touches on the cloak. The Seneschal Xadzia, the Wytch Mistress Kybrae, Ovate Jazdrial, and the young Hedge Wytch Jarden each maintained the circle as Mannimar lead the ritualists in this powerful rite. When the blessing concluded successfully, he presented the gift that so many had a hand in creating, a cloak of scintillating stars.

This elegant cloak of deep midnight blue is sewn carefully together with the softest wool, which flutters subtly with every movement of the wearer. The hem of this protective garment is embroidered in silver with each phase of the moon. The cloak is shrouded in a black cobweb of gossamer, upon which are the bright, scintillating stars of the night sky. The focal point of the starscape are the constellations of the Triad of the Night, framing the Ouroboros. The perfectly round, silver hood of this cloak stands in stark contrast to its dark, flowing body. When raised, the hood obscures the wearer's face, creating the illusion of a glowing full moon. Holding this glimmering garb together is a clasp expertly carved from the comet Ethian - the Morning Star - to resemble the serpent, Agathodaimon.
