What's It Worth?

If you realised that the world would asplode if you didn't put your main character for sale on eBay* RIGHT NOW, where would you start the bidding?

*Yes, you should assume that you don't want the world to asplode.

I demand sweat shop prices. So $.75 (usd) times hours spent on Achaea.

  • A more interesting question might be: "What is your main character worth in terms of credits, and dollars after conversion of the credits?" Create some kind of system to evaluate credit worth of transcendent skills.

    5 Artisanal entries :D
"Faded away like the stars in the morning,
Losing their light in the glorious sun,
Thus would we pass from this earth and its toiling,
Only remembered for what we have done."

One slightly used goofball, small wardrobe, alcohol problem, good at dying. $ 2.45 and a bottle of whiskey.

New show: People Hoarding. I'd probably watch that.

The irony is that since selling/transferring your character is a shrubbing offense, your character should actually be worth essentially $0 on ebay!
I don't think anyone would buy one anyway.  If you're buying your character for your text-based roleplaying game, you're probably doing it wrong.

ETA: Let the record show, though, that I will assist you in ganking any Mhaldorian slave for 1 dollar via paypal.

So, @Jovolo, what is your main character worth in terms of credits, and dollars after conversion of the credits?

And @Anyoneelse what is a Trans skill worth?

  • Depends on the price you buy credits at, and whether you have extra lessons from credit conversion or not.

If you do not have extra lessons, a trans skill is worth about 290 credits, I think.
  • In terms of credits I actually bought, I think, like, $50. Or do you mean credits attained both IC and OOC?

Actually, I believe there was someone about a year ago who sold their character(which had obtained dragon). Got away with it apparently because work had him travelling a lot so there was never just 1 ip associated with the account. The new owner ended up promptly leaving Ashtan to join Eleusis.

  • "And that was how Eleusis got its Dragon"?

  • I'll estimate my time value at $30/hr.

Total Time Played: 413 days, 12 hours and 12 minutes

    9924.2 hours

    $297,726

    Send tells.

Current scripts: GoldTracker 1.2, mData 1.1

Latest update: 9/26/2015 better character name handling in GoldTracker, separation of script and settings, addition of gold report and gold distribute aliases.
  • That one dude bought Rangor? Omg D:
  • My gut response to this was USD $500, then I got to reading and figuring in credits purchased and stuff and came to the conclusion that it'd be closer to USD $3,000 or so off of credits and if for whatever reason hours played counted as working on the character I'd figure in a wage of like $12/hr so...

    398 days, 22 hours and 8 minutes(114888) + 3000 = USD $117,888

Pony up the cash, I have things I need to buy.

Huh. Actually, I find this concept mildly intriguing.

Also, given the nature of the game, you'd have to think other things would factor into total cost, too.

Number of leadership positions held in houses/cities/orders (both past and present, each having a different value), player notoriety, number of times name is mentioned in Events posts, etc.

Someone figure out an extended formula!

  • I'm fine with $297k. Consider it a discount.

  • This topic reminds why I'm glad Achaea isn't big enough to support an economy of chinese gold farmers and power leveling specialists.

I understand. But what if I transfer my character mortis causa in a Last Will and Testament so that Shibumi can survive my mortal spoils? For example, dear heir, you are getting this money conditioned to the fact that you must play Achaea and Shibumi must be alive and kicking (which also fits because he is a Monk....) Wouldn't that be cool? True digital immortality?
