I fought Proficy when he was dual blunt Infernal, and while he did eventually manage to kill me with damage (because I was trying out some new ways to defend against dual blunt that weren't as efficient or effective as they could have been), he could have killed me a lot faster if he'd bothered to prep arms before the leg breaks and just used vivisect. It's yet another option for gaining the kill that limits their choices defensively. It definitely doesn't lolsmash as effectively as Runewarden, though, so I can see how some people might come to the conclusion that it's "not good".
If you don't pre-apply, your options are:
Applying to legs on the leg breaks. This leaves you wide open for a pulp kill, because applying to head immediately on recovering salve balance won't save you in time, nor will tumbling over an icewall alone (the timing isn't that close with level three morningstars, you can mountjump/leap and still pulp in time - assuming they can even tumble on leg breaks fast enough to get out of the room before the pulp). If they're Infernal, you have to take this route otherwise they can just break arms then vivisect if they've bothered to prep them as well.
Applying to head on the leg breaks. This will allow you to avoid Pulp initially, but leaves you wide open to being mangle locked and damaged out if you're not a dragon or heavily artied. If you have enough health, this is definitely an option against Paladin and Runewarden because they have nothing to force you not to.
Ultimately, though, your best option against dual blunt is to just loop/pre-apply to legs when you think you're close to prepped.
Only thing rebounding did was let me not get mangled. I still got pulped easily, and him hitting rebounding once ruined the prep I did manage to get (he broke his own leg).

While I have no idea if it would've saved you or not:
You take a drink from a crystal vial.
Your mind feels stronger and more alert.
That certainly did you no favors. Or hitting your own crystalforest (isaz levitation strip?)

Just got back into the game and switched to Alchemist for a change. Desperately seeking some combat logs so I can get an idea where to start with it. Thanks.

I still can't lock people all the time... But I think I have the general idea down. I'll hit you up in game... Too embarrassed to post here

You shouldnt be! My biggest combat revelations have come from advice people gave me on my terrible terrible logs. Everyone is super helpful in this thread. The spite only happens when people wont take advice and neither party can get over their text ego!

I frequently have logs loaded on my phone that I open randomly and frequently find bugs and things to change from reading them. It's kind of like Starcraft pros watching their replays.
