Hey there.

I'm probably insane, this probably won't work, and this thread will end forgotten and abandoned. Then again, what if it does work? It's something I've had in mind for a long while, creating a journal/blog for my own amusement to trace the rise of my own character. So I picked a goal I think I may be able to obtain someday, winning the staff of Nicator. More than that I wanted to rise above what meager littler I have managed to accomplish on my other characters in Achaea. So here goes.

I am an absolute sucker for any thing ancient Roman. I love it all. From the myths, the way the Legions functioned, the daily lives of the citizens. Without shame I decided that I'd name my new character after one of the most (if not most) influential Roman ever, Gaius Octavius Augustus. It was probably hubris on my part to think that the name Octavian or Octavius would be allowed. I'm not sure how they decide which names are allowed or are not, but as you're reading a post by Augtavian... Yeah, it was a no go. Dead set on the name I think I was pretty cleaver in dropping the Oct and picking up the Aug. Who knows, maybe I'll get a bestie who is awesome at combat named Agrippa.

Augtavian's namesake was a sickly individual (who somehow managed to make it to the rip age of 75.) So with the name picked and that in mind I chose to play as a Magi, eschewing a more physical class for something more magical based. There wasn't much thought put into picking human, it's just the race I felt like playing. My choice of city however I did put a lot of thought into.

I've never played in Mhaldor, and know very little about how they operate or act. I've been playing there for about three days and ooooooooboyo let me tell you, I'm impressed. Within 10 minutes of joining my house I had three people reach out to me to see if I needed help. Then there was the ritual last night (which was amazing) and a nice discussion with my new mentor. The RP is frequent, intense and already left me feeling like I'm going to really need to step my game up if I want to hang.

It's time to end this because I need to start hunting up some gold for tattoos.

Oh. So far I've spent $20 on lessons, and $25 on the iron elite for a total of $45.

Trying hard to figure out the lore of this place that's happened over the course of 20 gaming years.

We used to have quests involving the phosphorescent mushrooms, and the atavian shaman (who seems to have died during that weird gargoyle event which didn't really seem to establish any lore whatsoever). Now there's only one bounty for the queen, and none for the other manticores?

You have this gargantuan tree just sitting in a particular place, doesn't feel cohesive at all, and still no trace of the atavian shaman who rudely died and never returned? Why does this area feel like a Hollywood set? For everything eventful that seems to have involved this village, imagine your leader having lied to you, there's no redemption arc here at all.

Maybe I'm just upset that all my manticore quests aren't accounted for? but the area has way more potential rather than slapping a big ol' gargantuan Gaia tramp stamp of a tree and a Druid who doesn't talk... heck I can't even find out how Danae died. Really unremarkable. And it's rather sad that Agatheis as a God wasn't pursued creatively enough. A persecuted cult from Arcadia, Gehan lying? Maybe there's something deeper to the story rather than just making this area an accomodating RP patsy.

I always thought a natural progression of the area would be to tame the manticores or rather to discover what they're guarding, or perhaps whether or not they're corrupted.

We still don't know for sure whether the atavian shaman actually turned that gargoyle a former atavian, or why he was in azdun, other than rampaging and killing a bunch of people?

I'm not sure I'm going to be able to make the tea time in game. Wanted to put a few of my quality of life suggestions out here anyway.

I'd really like to make city government stuff more streamlined. I think there's a lot of tedious tasks that need to be done that I don't think people get into city government for. I think it unnecessarily takes away from the time of leaders who would most likely be more productive in using their time for more RP centric things.

1. Would like to see everyone on the city council be able to add to UPCOMING. At the very least have it toggleable per city (new CITY CONFIG?) so that the CL can delegate those tasks.

2. Allow ministers to withdraw directly from funds allocated to them. They are allocated to them for a reason. The check has already been made that it's appropriate. Right now only Admiral and Ambassador can withdraw funds, I think. Defence needs gold for sigils and totems. Interior needs funds for comms. Librarians need funds for journals and manuscripts. Right now they get those funds by cornering the CL and the CL withdraws from Ambassador. Maybe even allow dynamic funds groups that each city can set with dynamic permissions for which ministers are able to withdraw from them.

3. Allow more people to use city spirit. Two people per city that can use it is really prohibitive for the range of use cases you might need to use it in. It forces those to people to manage their real lives around logging in to optimally use maintain, to give hunting benefits to people in all time zones and be on call for any conquests or liberations that may pop up when they aren't in the realms. Again, toggleable if possible so if a specific CL doesn't trust the underlings to manage it properly, but by default city council should be able to use it. Defence aides should also be an option.

4. Allow scheduled city spirit usage. I assume most cities can generally predict a range of spirit they'll have available and know what they want to use that spirit on. I assume most are using maintain on cooldown, but due to it not being used exactly at that time, it slips and inevitably days will be missed and it isn't used. Allow the next use (or 4 for the hunting buffs) to be queued up (and cancelled if needed). That allows the CL to run the command when they're normally logged in rather than having to log in at random times to specifically to run city spirit powers.

5. Revlog should be able to be accessed outside of the city council chambers. I can't think of a single reason for revlog to only be accessed in the council chambers. Make it like all the other logs so it can be monitored.

6. City spirit should be able to be used outside of the war chambers. There are use cases where you want to use it while a battle is ongoing. Make something in the war chamber that can be attuned for a IC day or two.

7. Moving guards around while not being raided. This is a massive timesink if you're looking at overhauling your guard layout and needing to move a lot of guards. Allow the entry of guard movement commands (guardXXXXX move to roomName/Num) that execute after 1 hour of no deaths in the city. Can't be initiated while under sanction.

8. Totem checking. Would be nice if there was a way to get a quick status on all totems instead of having people have to wander about the city and check them. Ditto with empowering. Would be nice to have a way to empower all totems in the city -- 10 min channeled is fine, I will gladly do that over the current way.

9. Having an IC city calendar that people could check would be nice. I understand that UPCOMING is OOC, but it really would be nice to have a place to point people ICly for all the upcoming events. Bonus points if putting something on UPCOMING places it on the IC calendar too.

And a few that aren't related to city governement --

1. Have all items show how they can be interacted with if you probe them. Perhaps no need to include PUSH, PULL, etc.., but anything that's a non-standard interaction should show up. If you need to SQUEEZE a cow to get milk from it, that should show up -- because the players think of SQUEEZE as the emote squeeze which would absolutely not be used to milk a cow.

2. Get rid of hidden items. Items that you read in the room descriptions that don't show up on INFO HERE. As players we rely on INFO HERE to show us the objects in the room that can be interacted with. If you wish to hide items, put more non-descript items in rooms that don't do anything when you interact with them.

I would like to deeply thank Hikagejuunin and his band of misfits for all their hard work. For if it were not for finding the Loki system, I do not feel my attempts would be as progressed as they are. This slimmed down, basic sylvan offensive system, hopefully gives those that are typically more non-combatant but wish to try, as another functional framework to expand upon.
Heya!

As I promised in the other denizen targeting script I post my own targeter here for comparison, reference and so on.

!!THIS NEEDS SVO TO WORK!!

The Idea: Each area has a list of possible targets that is priorized.

Whenever you get into a room, it tries to order the things in the room by that priority to attack.

New possible targets are added by killing them once.

Use "kconfig bashing" to toggle the script on and off.

"kconfig bashing prios" shows the list of known areas.

"kconfig bashing prios <area name>" or click on area in the list shows the target prio list and lets you manage it.

Hi there,

If you're coming from Lusternia and a bit lost, here's a guide to help you get familiar with the differences. You'll find some information on cities, classes, and mechanics to hopefully ease your transition. This information is based on my own personal experiences and understanding, and so there is always a chance others may view it differently.

CITIES/COMMUNES:

-------------------------

- Like Lusternia, Achaea also has several cities/communes as player run hubs. They are the following (this is a very basic explanation of each):

Ashtan: A city devoted to Chaos, following the will of the Chaos Lords (entities from another plane).

Cyrene: A city based around individuality and the arts (most neutral-based city).

Eleusis: A village/commune of nature-lovers under the guidance of the Goddess of Nature.

Hashan: A city focused on mortal agency and Progress, with elements of darkness.

Mhaldor: A city of those who serve the God of Evil, following His will.

Targossas: A city that worships the Gods of Good, known as the Bloodsworn.

- How do these cities/communes compare to Lusternia? Below is a breakdown.

Celest: If you're coming from Celest, you'll likely find Targossas to be the closest match. It has a similar focus of worship of Light and Good, though themed more towards the paths of Methrenton and Shakiniel.

Gaudiguch: The chaos magic in Lusternia is somewhat different than that of Achaea in theme, but still rather similar in application. Though Chaos in Achaea is darker, Ashtan's chaos lore might feel familiar. The Occultist and Unnamble class play to the ideas of mental afflictions and physical transformations that you would be more familiar with.

Glomdoring: This is a bit trickier. While Eleusis reflects a love for nature, it lacks the darker, more corrupt elements Glomdoring is known for. Concepts of darkness and shadow can be found in Hashan to some degree, particularly within the Order of Darkness, where some degree of trickery also exists.

Hallifax: Cyrene mirrors Hallifax's focus on the arts, especially within the Order of Scarlatti. For the scientific and research aspects, Hashan offers a similar focus, with a strong emphasis on study and experimentation, supported by its grand laboratory. However, research and knowledge are valued across all cities in Achaea.

Magnagora: The comparison depends on what drew you to Magnagora. If it was the demonic and dark powers, Mhaldor is a close match, with demon summoners and necromancers under the God of Evil. In terms of scientific experimentation and mechanisms, you will find such concepts more similar in places like Hashan with their experimentation.

Serenwilde: This one is straightforward - if your love of nature and desire to protect it resonates most, Eleusis will be the perfect fit.

ARCHETYPES/SKILLS:

----------------------------

Achaea doesn't use a skill-tree system like Lusternia. Each class is unique to its own, and players adopt a class rather than learning skills available within it. Some classes have alternative skill paths, which can be switched between (e.g Monks switching from Tekura to Shikudo). Below is a comparison of Lusternia’s archetypes to Achaea’s classes:

Mage: While Lusternian Mages are distinct due to their use of demesnes, Achaean Mages don’t have this mechanic. However, their theme still centres around Elementalism, using all four elements in their abilities.

Druid: Like Mages, Achaean Druids don’t employ demesnes, though they can spread vines through areas. This isn’t exactly central to their combat kit, but rather an added feature representing nature’s reclamation.

Wiccan: Achaea doesn’t have a Wiccan-esque class. Occultists can fill the summoning entities niche, while Druids and Sylvans can cover the natural spell-power theme. While Achaea lacks a spiritual class tied to concepts like the Moon, Night, or Fae, the Depthswalker class does use shadow-based abilities. Additionally, Shamans call upon spirits and cast curses, which may appeal to those who enjoy that theme.

Guardian: For those interested in spiritual or cosmic faith, the closest classes are Apostates (Evil necromantic demon-summoners), Priests (Good-aligned angel-summoners), and Occultists (Chaos-worshipping entity-summoners). Several of their spells are similar in scope to those found in Lusternia.

Bard: Achaean Bards are more physical combat-focused focusing on dexterity. They blend music with swordplay with acrobatics. While they maintain the themes of music and storytelling, Achaea does not have a stanza mechanic for effects.

Warrior: Warriors in Achaea are thematically similar to those in Lusternia. You select a specialisation and wield weapons to defeat enemies. There are four types of Warriors: Infernals (using the power of Evil and Necromancy), Paladins (using the power of Good and fire), Unnamables (using Chaos for transformations), and Runewardens (neutral, using rune-based powers). The Sentinel class is another option for forest-lovers, offering a physical fighter but with a different skill setup. Instead of a Wounds system, Achaea uses a limb damage system - when a limb reaches 100% damage, it breaks.

Monk: Achaean Monks share some similarities with those in Lusternia. They use combos to deal damage and effects, with Tekura focusing on unarmed martial arts to damage limbs. Shikudo is an alternative path to Tekura, and can be compared to Lusternia’s staff-wielding Tahtetso Monks. Shikudo Monks progress through stances (similar to katas) to unlock more powerful abilities. Achaean Monks start with Tekura, Telepathy, and Kaido, and can only learn Shikudo (in place of Tekura) after fully mastering Tekura and investing in it as a secondary path.

CONFLICT/WAR:

---------------------

Achaea's conflict system differs significantly from what you may be used to, though some similarities remain.

PvP: There is no Avechna system requiring formal declarations of attack. If you have a valid reason (within the bounds of rationality), you can engage in combat. The target may retaliate by hiring an assassin, except in zones classified as Open PK, explained below. The system is more intricate than it appears, so be sure to check in-game help files for details.

Contracts: Players can register as assassins or champions for hire. If someone wrongs you, you can anonymously place a contract with payment, and hired assassins will attempt to hunt down the target. Success grants you a rush of experience, and if the assassin is slain, the contract is considered concluded.

Conquests: Achaea's conquest system resembles Village Revolts or Aetherflares. Cities or communes spread their influence into other areas through a pathing system, similar to mage demesnes. The more areas controlled, the more spirit energy is accumulated, which can be used for buffs. Contested or liberation-attempt areas become Open PK zones. The goal is to have your beacon (for conquest) or tank (for liberation) reach 100% to claim victory. Different orgs have unique approaches to strategy in conquests.

Raids: Raiding cities in Achaea is much more common than in Lusternia. Raids often focus on killing city soldiers (players flagged as city army members) to gain Sanction status, which turns the city into an Open PK zone. Raiders then attempt to place a tank to destroy a room, reducing it to rubble and requiring repairs. Raids don’t involve slaying powerful entities and then completing large-scale quests for massive effects, as seen in Lusternia.

Curatives: Combat curatives in Achaea are similar to Lusternia before its overhaul. Instead of a few curatives, you'll need various plants/minerals, elixirs, salves, and smokeables. However, Achaea’s server-based curing system efficiently handles most of this, so you mainly need to ensure you're well-stocked.

RESOURCES:

--------------

In addition to Health, Mana, Willpower, and Endurance, certain classes have unique resources like Essence (Necromancers) or Wellspring (Hashan Alchemists). There's no power system for major abilities.

For either yourself or your organization, you can help with the gathering of commodities through Mining or Foraging. Mining can be a bit tricky to get into but can be very beneficial for yourself and your organization with time.

XP/HUTNING:

-------------------

Hunting in Achaea is similar to Lusternia in that you simply need to deal enough damage to mobs to kill them for XP. Most mobs in Achaea don't have resists and weaknesses (that we can see anyway), so there’s no need to adjust your damage type while hunting like in Lusternia. The concept of Damageshift for Crits in Lusternia is not an inherent ability here but can be obtained as an artifact.

Certain items and buffs can enhance your hunting. Elixirs, rare minerals, and city/commune effects can boost your stats, crit chance, or XP gain.

Unlike Lusternia’s Influencing system, Achaea doesn’t offer and alternative non-violent method for hunting for xp. To gain levels, you’ll need to engage in hunting, though questing can be an alternative if you're patient.

At level 99+, you unlock the ability to transform into a Greater Dragon. This form is very tanky, with a fully mastered skillset that replaces your class abilities. It’s especially effective for hunting, providing increased resistances and stats.

SHIPS:

---------

Seafaring in Achaea is much like Aetherships in Lusternia. For more challenging content, you’ll often need a crew, and you can sail to various islands where hunting provides an XP boost. You can also use your ship for deepsea fishing or diving at your leisure.

While at sea, you may encounter seamonsters, similar to aetherbeasts. Defeating them grants XP and a trophy, which can be exchanged for a significant amount of gold.

Beware of pirates! The open seas are Open PK zones, and some players may attempt to sink your ship if they come across you.

QUESTS:

-----------

Quests exist in Achaea, but they aren’t as impactful as those in Lusternia. You won’t find quests that unleash cursed suits of armour on villages or curse undead players with a malus. While Lusternia’s quests often centre around puzzles or mini-games, Achaea’s focus is different. Achaean quests can be more intricate, and at times frustrating, but many reveal hidden bits of lore and story upon completion.

LORE:

-------

Much like Lusternia, Achaea has a deep and intricate story that can be found on the general website. Take note this was written quite some time ago, so comparative to the lore in the later established IRE games, it can seem a bit simpler. More is always discovered in terms of Achaea's story as the years go by, with things being discovered even today that answers questions from over a decade ago.

DIVINE:

----------

Divine in Achaea are much like those in Lusternia, with the key difference being that Achaean gods are associated with specific realms, similar to the Greek pantheon. Not all are exclusively tied to a single city or commune.

ASCENSION:

---------------

Achaea has a concept similar to Lusternia's yearly Ascension. Every other year, Achaea hosts the Championship Games (currently ongoing), which resemble Lusternia's Vernal Seals events. Players compete in a series of scheduled games to earn points, and the player with the highest score at the end is crowned Champion, receiving the Staff of Nicator – a powerful artifact that grants significant bonuses.

TALISMANS/CARDS:

---------------------------

You will find that Talisman items and Cards in Lusternia are similar to Curio items in Lusternia. For Talismans, you will need to gather each piece in order to complete the Talisman, which will give you a unique ability or effect. Cards are a bit more unique in that you only need to get/purchase the card and it will then immediately provide an effect when you use it. Cards have charges and will need to recharge after they've all been used.

Talisman pieces are primarily obtained through promotional purchases or by buying them from other players. A few can also be acquired by hunting specific areas or completing certain quests, though these only yield pieces from a limited selection of talisman sets.

ARTIFACTS:

----------------

Artifacts in Achaea enhance your abilities, much like in Lusternia. They are purchased through credits.

CROWNS:

------------

Similar to Dingbats/Aethergoop, Crowns are another form of commerce that can be collected and traded in for unique items. These items tend to be a bit more on the whimsical side but no less potent in their effects.

RENOWN:

------------

Renown is a daily point system that resets every 24 hours. You earn renown by completing certain quests or tasks, with a daily cap of 2000 renown. For example, if you earn 45 renown from a quest, it will appear in both your daily and total renown views. The following day, your daily total resets to 0, while your overall total remains. Renown can be spent in the renown shop on various items, including bound credits. One of the main incentives for completing forays (explained below) is the renown they provide.

FORAYS:

-----------

Forays in Achaea are similar to dungeon runs in games like WoW. You gather a small group of players, sign up for the foray, and locate its entrance. Some forays are easier than others, but like dungeon runs, you'll need to learn the mechanics and strategies to overcome the creatures inside. Completing a foray awards 1000 renown, which is half of the daily renown cap.

I was practicing Druid combat on some big artied folks the other day and got frustrated because I could barely get them below 50% health. The frustrating part about this is that they were just sitting there. They didn't have to run, they didn't have to play defensively, etc. They just sat and sipped and cured.

My question is why don't we give all classes a single action timed kill? Some classes already have this--Sylvans have heartseed, Runewardens have skullcrush. It's no wonder so many people loathe fighting when you can break both legs, prone, and gorilla pound a person twice and still not get them below 50%. Achaea is the only game I've ever played where someone could just walk away from their computer and a significant number of players with fully transcendent class skills wouldn't be able to kill them.

It's amazing how many hours I've spent trying to be able to kill players that aren't even fighting back. And, after I get to that point, I somehow have to be able to kill the people that are.

Another thought, if not a timed kill, why not just increase the damage percentages so that no one can out sip it? Mauling a person to death should be viable against any adventurer that isn't paying attention, in my opinion.

Edit: Upon re-reading this, I actually like the damage idea way more. This would preserve the artied folks protections when hunting, while at the same time making combat more accessible. Seasoned fighters are going to go for the faster kills, but players that suck at combat would at least have an option.

Edit 2: Should have mentioned... the gorilla pound was also with bees, pollen, and lashing all active.

Hi!

Yes yes I know there are 71671417419 chat scripts around and now I come here and drop another one... but this isn't just any chat script! It has a lot of features you will probably like that many others does not!

First of all, you can use it with any GUI you want. If they already have a chat window you can just disable it and use this one. It is also based on AdjustableContainer which means you can move it around, resize, recolor (editing the script), etc to fit your needs!

Second... It has OS notifications for your chat tabs! Just tell the script which tabs you want it to notify you and you will receive notifications in your OS whenever someone says something! Good stuff right? :>

There are also a lot of other things like gagging specific messages, logging, ndb support and a bunch of other stuff! For more information just read the readme in github or in the package itself!

Most of the code was made by demonnic, the maker of our beloved YATCO now EMCO. I just adapted the channels to use achaea ones and added one thing or another :>

TheLastDarkthorne/AchaeaChatTabs: Set of chat tabs with automatic handling for Achaea.
Hi, so, i've been gone for quite some time and decided to log in again and see what's new. Well, Nexus is new, it seems. Is there a way to use the old nexus 2.0 client still? Or at least recover all of my old aliases/triggers/etc? I had a lot of things made and wouldn't even know how to remake them anymore.

Me and a family member play on the same IP sometimes i go to friends and have lan parties, I would like this to be simple but I think the IP behaviour may be flagging the system because of a glitch where Nexus fails to login my email login with multiple accounts but will let me login with the Username of my main account.

I've deleted multiple alts trying to see if it would reset from a registration problem, but I follow the emails each time. I have a alt but after the first day I created it, cannot sign on to it. Luckily I still have my main or I would've rage quit. Please advise or assist. I've tried reporting to Mantis and the regular channels of support message. I just don't know if I missed a help file somewhere.
