  Then perhaps you should give him space. This is my advice for dealing with any newbie who doesn't seem very receptive to your well-intentioned advances. Often, these newbies are experienced players of Achaea, or of MUDS in general, who know darn well how to <move/learn skills/talk to players/etc> and don't have any particular desire to sit around for an hour while you orient them. You and I know, of course, the value that Houses and other players have, but you're never going to convince anyone of that by making them sit and listen while you talk at them. You're much better off making sure they know you're there if they need you, then backing off and letting them do their thing. Many times, the newbie will get comfortable in the largely single-player bashing game before branching out and becoming involved with others, and that's just fine.

  I believe he said (in the interview, funny enough) that he would link the full transcript from the article but don't persecute me for my beliefs if they turn out to be wrong. I can't be bothered to actually listen through the whole interview again to find out exactly what he said about it.

  1) No transcripts. I do not have near the time it would require to write one. The video goes into an article series that is used to talk about almost anything I want, but is usually reserved for odd, indie or less popular games or genres. I also upload my vids to YouTube if you want to attempt to use its auto-captioning tool. It sucks usually, but might work.   2) The article will be out on the 29th, but I will also be doing a write-up in another column (or maybe the same one at a later date, not sure) in order to give a first impressions of the gameplay. It would be like what many of you would call a "review" but we do not review things on Massively. MMOs are endless, so that's impossible to do. We do impressions or previews. I was looking to livestream a dungeon or event in a MUD (yes, it sounds odd but would be a blast for people to see how the mechanics work) but looked at GemStone IV for that. In that game, events have to be timed so if anyone knows of a nice group activity that we can stream in this game, I'd stream that any time.

  
  

  3) I am sorry if I didn't see tells or whispers or whatever they are called in this game. I also logged in later to be told that I had to leave a town because I was evil, so I wandered around until I attacked something and figured out it was someone's pet! Then I was told I had to leave a certain channel on, but it was spamming up my screen so I shut it off. lol Don't take it personally if a new player (or experienced player who is just new to your world) has no idea what the heck you are talking about. At this point I am lost but will find my way. My advice? There are too many channels and things popping up right away in a newbies face, and roleplay seems barely there... thought it was more common.

  This made me laugh a bit -- I remember having to buy credits through the US Postal system. And that 200 credit packages were almost the biggest packages available. And the check had to be written out to either Matt personally or later on to Achaea, LLC when he made it a business! 
  
  And I remember when Matt finally got credit card payments on the website and I clicked "Submit" about 25 times and caused everyone a huge headache.

  @Beaugh, sometimes as experienced Achaeans, we forget what it's like to be a newbie. People being so vocal about what is spammy, inconsistent, or anything else that is negative helps us to put the newbie-experience into perspective as players. Some of us have been playing this game for so long that we can pay attention to 10+ channels at once (I still can't keep them straight and miss-channel all the time).

  I am retired and log into the forums maybe once every 2 months. It was a good 20 years, live your best lives, friends.

  Lol, I used to have to do Western Union money orders from Australia, mainly because I was young, didn't have a credit card and the thought of trying to explain to my parents why I wanted to borrow theirs for kind of horrifying.  It was fun waiting the 3-4 days airmail and then the 5ish days for it to clear before I got my credits.  I think I even still have my first receipt of my first credit purchase somewhere.  Then I got a visa Debit and credit purchases became instant; it was like an angelic chorus was singing in the background the first time I made a credit purchase with it.
