  Between GMCP affs and serverside curing most people aren't going to fall for illusions that try to make them think they have afflictions they don't.
  
  You're better off illusioning yourself doing things to try to throw off their offense. What that is depends on what class you're fighting, but generally things like eating herbs, applying salves, shielding, etc.

  Also, illusions of your opponent curing things can still be useful to throw off their curing. It might not work against every system, but some don't keep perfect track of what cures they have actually queued and what acceptable response times are for those cure lines. Illusioning a salve application, for example, can (possibly) prevent their system from applying the salve when it actually needs to. Where these types of illusions are useful is probably not obvious to a novice though.

  The above won't work very well these days. Most people will use serverside which isn't fooled at all by those types of illusions.
  
  Shield, rebounding, eating, curseward, aeon, applying to yourself. Things like that can help.
  
  Versus a prep class salve illusions, shield and rebounding.
  
  Versus affliction classes eating, tree, active heal, shield and rebounding.
