oh I forgot to add in the above, a large chunk of the best people play together because they're afraid to play against each other - that would be hard mode and there would be risk of not destroying noobs every night.
This nearly destroyed my game. Hell. It DID destroy my game. I was on the guilty side, too. No one wanted to leave. A lot of it was just that people liked each other, although I can see how that could be hard to believe from the other side. That said, if this is the case, your best bet is to refuse to engage of you're really that outmatched on a regular basis. Give them plenty of time to them reconsider what they're bringing to fights (a lot times it really is mostly excellent combat leadership/skills all clumped into one unbeatable team even more than it is about arties, with a few good artie derps sprinkled in maybe, and people understandably get super tired of that eventually).
@Atalkez, show me a world where when planning group combat tactics I don't have to factor in veils, miasma vengeance, earring networks, crucible, bracers of frost (freeze ground), non monks/BMs with mindnet, wings to places most people can't chase to like duanatharan, duanatharic or the custom ones, boomerangs that pick off anyone who forgets mass, significantly faster base EQ on every single ability that uses it, web tattoos that don't work at all, lyres that basically only the dragons in the group who can blast them can get through, wands that buy a solid 10-15s of breathing room every hour, gems that mean you have to kill people 3+ times in short succession before they're truly out of the fight, 3-room movement before "don't be hasty" kicks in, rune sketching in water environments, etc.
that world looks a lot different. those are all arties that change the landscape of tactical possibilities for people who have them - this doesn't even start to mention things like the +3 INT, +20% magic damage hound/warp combos that let people do half health on dragons with 8k hp, and other offensive/defensive arties that just change tanking and dishing capacity in smaller ways that are individually perhaps unnoticeable but collectively add up.
many of the people we're thinking of will obviously still win 1v1 in many cases, but no way do they run over people and factions in group combat (and group combat that is forced on other people) in the way they can now with all those extra abilities.
oh I forgot to add in the above, a large chunk of the best people play together because they're afraid to play against each other - that would be hard mode and there would be risk of not destroying noobs every night.
I think you and anyone else who likes to play the apologist for their supposedly massive skill levels is just being a little bit dishonest with themselves about it.

We fight the same people. I'm not making an apology for any of the borderline things that Ashtan does.
However I'm not going to cry admin bias because they work well together and have the skills/items to be very effective while doing so.
I just focus on getting my team better, and it's working a lot better than your process, but that's just my opinion man.
I don't think anyone (except maybe Ashtan) is going to argue that Ashtan doesn't do some pretty bullshit stuff from time to time. But, pretty much like what Atalkez just said, just because they don't get insta-shrubbed for it doesn't make it admin bias.
You gotta remember that admin punishments are held in reserve for those people who really go overboard - i.e. harassment, griefing (defined as repeatedly attacking/killing someone, not just doing it once in a blue moon), and other things along this line. They aren't going to punish a bunch of people for killing a group of people that they were literally just fighting a single time. That's what IC punishments are for. Hire on them if you feel it was undeserved. Or if you feel this method of vengeance won't have any luck, find another alternative method. I promise, there's options out there if you think outside the box.
I skipped a Japanese language expo to go with my friends to see Samuel L Jackson get force lightninged out a window in Star Wars Episode 3: The Least Bad One.
Gorillaz released Demon Days.
Destiny's Child disbanded, unleashing Beyonce upon the world.
Doctor Who battled the living plastic Autons of the Nestene Consciousness in the first episode of the show's modern revival.
All locks in Achaea temporarily ceased to function. Ignoring Divine orders not to take advantage of this, Cain traipsed through some stockrooms and picked up what he found there. Shortly thereafter he was stationed at North of Thera by a wrathful Sarapis, outfitted in a dress, and forced to hand out his inventory to passers-by.
Occultist gremlins and sycophants were discovered to be firing twice as fast as intended, little bastards.
The Vertani invasion of Sapience progressed, following @Szanthax and Xtassy killing their emissaries back in 2014.
Makali became lead producer of Achaea, succeeding Sarapis and working alongside Clementius.
XP loss from being dead was cut by 75%, and XP loss from praying was cut by 66%, in a move that would forever satisfy a playerbase averse to perceived loss.
Autoclass was implemented to mixed delight and dismay.

Back in the days of yore, Guilds controlled classes in Achaea, and there was one Guild for every class. In order to become able to transcend a class, you had to get past a certain guild rank. Guilds were especially stringent about their requirements to achieve that process, bogging you down for months, even years, in often needlessly tedious, multiple-page essay tasks, knowledge, and understanding of whatever topics happened to be related to said class (forestals are a good example here).
Sarapis eventually got wind of this (and how many people were qqing due to it) and said "fuck that noise" and created Certimene, who would allow anyone to pick up any class they wished at any time, and being able to become transcendent depended on how long you've been playing (certain amount of hours) and having reached a certain level (and lessons, of course). Because this also opened the doors for all classes in all cities, this sent the world into some pretty crazy lowercase-c chaos.
It was both a very popular and very disliked move due to the "it dilutes our rp!" stuff.

I was trying to organise a group hunt for Eleusis, but they were doing other stuff. So I decided I'd go and do it solo.

Then Jhui decided it was his playtime right as I was finishing, so I didn't even get a chance to enjoy my success.
