I would like to see this attitude of 'soldier in city = free to kill' done away with... it seems to have sprung up recently and getting out of hand, afkers, people unable to defend being killed without a word.
Being yanked out of the city and mob slaughtered isn't a raid, it's a gank. If you have to kill noncomms and afkers remotely to start a sanction, you're not raiding, you're just being a nuisance.
You guys had already begun defending, doing attempted braziers, and rang the bell to 'warn of enemies in the city'. So to say nothing was going on and I just randomly killed her isn't the truth. And like she said. She's a soldier and an enemy of Hashan. I didn''t just random pick a newbie to kill.

Not going to get into an argument, because it doesn't really matter, but the mentality here needs addressed.
No, we hadn't 'begun defending' when you radianced her. We were still standing at Rally Point, barely even in Party and ready to do anything. Attempted brazier isn't defending, and without knowing who it was - you shouldn't be attacking someone who isn't already open PK.
Being a city enemy of Hashan, or being a soldier of Targossas, does not matter.
Penwize has cowardly forfeited the challenge to mortal combat issued by Atalkez.
So what about the times you guys do it? OR is it only bad when we do it? I can't even tell you how many times I've gotten summoned upon immediately logging in, or raiders killing people who aren't even in the army because they are in the city.

You can't have it both ways.
Nope, we can't.
I call out my team everytime it happens. You're welcome to ask!

Let's not start on the radiance callouts. I dont know how many times ive seen someone radianced out of the blue, just to help with sanction or to get a kill. I personally loathe the ease of use of radiance and it's area wide effect. It's basically a gamble, not on your life but a gamble if the guy is paying attention or inexperienced and you will get a lucky kill. Not to mention if the guy can get out of area fast enough or is even able to. I've honestly considered monk at times simply to sit at a guard stack indoors with a mono and doing random radiances on raiders
Just curiously: what on -earth- is the point of being a soldier in a city's army if you have 0 intention of fighting unless it's totally on your terms? If you want it on your terms, just don't be a soldier. You could still join up when you wanted. Then nobody should do anything to you. It's not even like being a soldier garners -any- bragging rights. Nobody cares! It's just been used, as far as I have ever seen, as a flag for 'Willing to get involved in the raid'.
Some cities (Cyrene, at least) use the army channel to coordinate defenses. So you essentially have to join the army to be a part of defending, when that's the case.
Targossas barely uses the army channel at all in my experience, we still use parties for raids, raid defense, skirmishes, small group fights, etc.
As far as killing soldiers to sanction a raid... Why not? You're a soldier for your city that's being attacked by an invading force, you should expect to be a target.

Two wrongs don't make a right. It's easy not to do it, you just..er.. Don't. If they keep doing it take the moral high ground and be content that you are better than them.

I went back to monk recently and we raided you guys during the brief experimentation with it. I basically radianced people to be annoying and force people to react. Kasa was a bit slow leaving, and thinking that he might have been mindless I cancelled the radiance.
That's not to brag about how saintly I am, just to point out that Radiance is a great tool to force people into addressing your raid party.
He is a coward who has to bring two friends as backup to jump people hunting.

Helping them defend when I was a rogue was VERY interesting.
ANNOUNCE NEWS #4570 (06/12/2016 at 21:37) From : Makarios, the Meticulous To : Everyone Subject: Death talisman pieces ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just as a quick update to the current globe promotion, you can now trade in all death talisman pieces at a set price of ten bound credits. This should help alleviate the issue of having too many of the common pieces, while still making it preferable to trade the rarer pieces with your fellow players. Enjoy! Penned by My hand on the 1st of Ero, in the year 715 AF.

If I recall, when the new system was introduced - this was a sticking point so soldiers aren't always 'open PK' inside their city.
If any soldier can be attacked to start a sanction, then they can be attacked for anything. You think Bleak won't be radiancing Mhaldor to try to grab a solo sanction?

Yeah, you don't hit anyone not already open pk unless they initiate first. The only exception I see is being part of a group that's attacking LoS in a non-standard room. Even this relies on them knowing what's going on and not just being told to follow randomly. That kinda falls to defense leadership, though.
I'd just like to point out that it doesnt require the slaying of soldiers to get a sanction raid, which seems to be a misconception being expressed here. Radiance and other cheap tactics are not only targetting soldiers, it targets everyone for a quick sanction.

It doesn't matter who it's targeting. If they don't do something to draw aggression beyond being logged in (excluding mark, infamy, and dauntless), it is illegal.

I'm not saying I wouldn't, but I have not been monk since I multiclassed serpent! So maybe snipe is a better word here.
I logged in to redeem some junky talisman pieces and found out that there was a raid going on. I ran over to Tesha and did my best to draw her away from the group and for once, something I tried actually worked.
I am retired and log into the forums maybe once every 2 months. It was a good 20 years, live your best lives, friends.

Does this mean you'll stop trying to brazier/mind throw me into LoS, when I'm afk playing LoL/DotA?
Pls.
Eh, I mind listen/sapience anyone in area that could be leading. If you make the mistake of trying to call guards or something similar, you are fair game for the duration of the raid unless you leave the area and explicitly tell me otherwise. Pk doesn't end because you decide to go play lol.
Edit: complete logs of me acting contrary to this are more than welcome.

I dun call guards, though. Nor am I ever the one to decide to! Pk doesn't end because you decide to go play lol. Never said it does! I'm more referring to when you guys first come, and I tab back to Mudlet to see a wall of text of my defs being stripped with brazier attempts, hence the way my post was worded. Which we've spoken about IG before: you shrugged it off.
The post was mostly in jest, though. Like I said previously, you're probably the... Better of the groups (generally) that raid us. Minus Deladan (and Mycen, when she tags along)

This is how people get to be soldiers without being considered open PK anytime they're in the city.

Got an unexpected TF, that was super nice. Also got six gold dragon talisman pieces in Annwyn/UW, which was rewarding!
Also got scolded by Ada a tiny bit for being mean, but it's okay; she laughed, so I'm off the hook, as Homer Simpson would say.

Such is the life of a soldier. Service isn't mandatory, at least not in Targ.
That being said I find radiance to be a dumb tactic. Especially when you (not directed) put people outside the gates of the city waiting for them.
I find the good ol smudge and jeer over yell to work just fine. If they are interested they will respond, if not there are others to move on to.
Smudge and Jeer is fun but my smack-talk really needs work
Login to find out everything I had on the talisman market for 60k was suddenly sold. Meh!
yeah so does mine :dissapointed:
