No one's forgetting that. It doesn't fix the problem. People have lives and we have more off-continent things than ever before, not to mention no one wants to be put off balance while bashing/fighting.
That's not really extremely viable in the middle of combat when you have about three seconds to figure out where they are. Especially if the veiled friend isn't also fighting. It's a suitable solution for casual play, but for most intensive purposes, if you want to be able to effectively kill veiled people who don't like to sit still, you will need a veil.
I can understand enjoying a veil's anonymity to some extent when you don't cause trouble yourself, especially as so many Achaeans are nosy ninnies with enough gossip to feed a third world nation. But at the end of the day, a veil's purpose is to a) Shield you from conflict and consequences, and b) Find those shielding themselves. In the grand scheme of a multi-player game, a veil goes absolutely against what you should want for a playerbase.
Upon reflection though, I now sometimes miss the off-plane effects of islands and certain locations, like up north. While I do enjoy communication as a whole and think it's healthier for the game, sometimes you really want to be able to wander and be a bit more alone (and not in UW, Annwyn, or Bop). Commscreen offers this to some degree, but it's not nearly the same. Maybe it's partly viewing it through nostalgia glasses, but it feels like certain places lost some of their unique attributes due to that change.
Edit: The reflection was brought on by pondering the "alone" feeling you sometimes get when wearing a veil.
And I love too Be still, my indelible friend That love soon might end You are unbreaking And be known in its aching Though quaking Shown in this shaking Though crazy Lately of my wasteland, baby That's just wasteland, baby
not today but a couple ago. Threw gold at Valkyn and had her make me a fortress in Hashan for my creepy mansion. Will be hiring Satyr's to keep the grass down on the island as well incase anyone is interested. https://ada-young.appspot.com/pastebin/e4eaef3a

If you want interior work done, feel free to throw gold at me as well.
With expert precision, you draw Baleful Dragonflies from its scabbard and unleash a vicious slash

You have scored a CRITICAL hit!
You have slain a monstrous crystal spider, retrieving the corpse.

Tough little bastard.
Fissure bashing is the best way to teach a protege.

Now they're going to assume you helped...
Oh.
(For the record, I didn't. I was off killing the rusalka.)

"You have been waiting for six hours and forty-seven minutes on an active *mountainouscityoffical* to respond to your citizenship inquiry... You have died in the process of boredom because as a hopeful Alchemist with no city you can do little else but count bellybutton lint. You also really wish they would do away with the silly city requirement for Alchemists so even adventurers without citizenship could have access to their skills. Seeing as no other class has this limitation... BEEEP!!!"
Completed my cape with the help of @Jadys. Definitely one of my new favorite toys. Darn thing even got me hunting again (although it's hard to cap out with two other dragons following you. Although I did get to see @Morthif get mowed down by uber dks twice in a row. Second time, he ran into kemnast. It's hard to feel bad when you can't control your laughter.
Had some fun skirmishes with Targossas. It was a nice change of pace to how I've been spending my time lately. Despite the tmc banter, I think both sides had a good time and came out fairly equally.
Cape is amazing, and has (combined with Death's Call) also given me additional motivation to go out hunting. I usually start with the undead in lower Azdun to build up stacks, since they're quick kills but sufficiently high level to count, and it's only a very short walk from there to the Underworld or Annwyn entrances.

I did?? Shit I was so tired I didn't even notice. Bard vs Uber dk round 3 if I complete a cape
A golden gryphon, your loyal companion, has died of starvation.

This must've been recent too, like 24-48 hours recent because some of those mounts were fresh bought and didn't have anything in their feedbags. I thought the stablehands would feed'm!
Not gonna lie, people rezzing the mhun in that event made me laugh
I'm kinda surprised nobody got zapped for that shit. Super fucking annoying for the people in Moghedu, and I'm sure it was frustrating for whoever was trying to run the event.
I may or may not have told a story today some where in some mountain area

Props to the people who spend time writing fairly elaborate things for the Scarlattan concerts, even if it seems like not that many people show up sometimes. It's fun to see people's creativity at work.

But @Ellodin's presentation was superb. @Marisella was amazing during the discussion, too. The Order is small, but great.
Do not DM on forums unless you're ok with waiting a couple months!
