Just bought a Seastrider from @Kayeil and it came pretty complete at a fair price. She's even letting me use her pail to make it all icy. Only thing lacking on it was some weapons and ammo, but I'll hold off of those until I get enough gold saved for them. Time to learn about sea monsters
Edit: Oh, and a name change. It's current name is a bit too...sparkly for me.
Took it from a quote about magpies, the name that is. Don't blame you for the name change. I wasn't thrilled with it either, just needed something to use for a name. Glad to see it help you take more interest in the sea monster stuff. I am not comfortable captaining during those trips, but it's fun to tag along and help. Plus side, hunting sea monsters will help the crew gain experience faster.
I'm not sure what you mean. To lift any restrictions would require a major shift in the world stage, as the only classes restricted are alchemists (which can't go to Eleusis), and then factional classes, which are rooted in the faction they're based in. Why would that change just because of multiclass?

Accepting factional classes is a city thing anyway? Hashan accepts necros I think, I've seen people multiclass and nut them, but no one is going to actually go necro because they know they'll just be declared anathema.
Hashan is unique in that aspect, I don't think any of the other cities have similar situations (Ashtan would be the only I'm uncertain of in that regard).

Like 80% sure Eleusis can still go Occultist too, with a nut. But it's banned by their city laws. Though the 'bug' that let people go Occ might've been stealth fixed.

If you had occie and devo skills before the swap over you could keep them but never swap to those classes. So I guess you could still select those classes but you'd forfeit citizenship.
Ironically you replied because you were who I had in mind when thinking about this, Excomm and Anam are opinionated based on those in power and it's actually quite demeaning. Like, in example, I'm a Targ priest and I artie out, get lessons and such to get tritransed, then have an argument with the dawnlord, get kicked from city, then excommed, meaning all of that money I spent was a complete loss, it's not ideal.
You don't just get excommed overnight like that. You have to repeatedly do things you've been warned not to do, before the topic even will get approached.
Penwize has cowardly forfeited the challenge to mortal combat issued by Atalkez.

It would be great if some classes had more of a malleable role but Achaea takes the Light and Dark as definable forces idea a lot more strongly than the alignment by perspective route. I feel like the landscape and mechanics of the game would have to change unreasonably to accommodate Paladins of Chaos, Nature, etc, but I'd still like to see it.

This is correct to some degree.
However, I don't know what the reaction would be if you were actually ousted from Targossas and Mhaldor as a devotion/necromancy user. Mind, you're not gonna be ousted just on one single thing. No city does that, unless it's just extremely bad. But that said, if you do manage to get kicked out, you likely do accept the burden that is a very probable change in class or dealing with a mostly-broken set of skills.
That's just the danger. Whether that's fair or not is a discussion that's been argued over for ages, and there's people out there who agree/disagree, there's people who think how much your skills get effected should be shifted, and etc. But this has been hashed and rehashed over and over, I don't see any point to rehashing it again on forums.
There's been some proposed ideas regarding it, but my impression from the admin so far is that they have no real interest in looking at/changing it.
Edit: To be clear, I was excommunicated by Aurora, not a random Targ leader, so I wouldn't say my case was in any way close to your example.

There's a thread on this particular topic still active, started by Aodfionn. I don't believe either Tecton or Sarapis have weighed in on it @Exxia and as such would assume they have no interest in addressing it at all.
He is a coward who has to bring two friends as backup to jump people hunting.
You can get booted from Targ for reasons that don't come close to what's necessary for excom to even be considered.
Unless someone gets booted from Targ as a devotionist for doing something that would have gotten them excommunicated to begin with (repeated instances of helping out Mhaldorians/Ashtani/whatever, publically talking shit to Deucalion or Aurora), then they shouldn't worry about getting excom just for being uncitizened.
If I had to excommunicate rogue devotionists for talking shit about Targossian leadership, the Diaspora would have been down to maybe one person within a week of me joining. I have no idea how my Dread Eclair counterpart handles the necro side of all this, but that's how I try to roll.
500 credit jackpot within the next 50 spins on the wheel of fortune!
After selling a bunch of talisman pieces to Anedhel: (Targossas): You say, "Hmm do I spin now or wait a bit?"
(Targossas): Imaan, Priestess of Targossas says, "Dawnspear, let us pray in Silverbright Square."
The melodious tones of Imaan, Priestess of Targossas ring throughout the city as she chants for a call to prayer. (Targossas): Anedhel says, "Might be a good moment for it."

4/11/9:10 You have completed the bounty filed by the City of Targossas, and have received 30000 gold sovereigns.
My first bounty, yay. @Chajee and I both floundered until she ran out of magnesium and I got the cheese kill. Pretty sure it was way better than however combat's supposed to go, we were running all over thera and firing arrows at each other, with me furiously spamming healing rites (got out of lock a 4 times, no regrets).
Found out today, she's also practically a 'true' novice. So many questions ._. But seems good overall; Hashan could use another Monk
She might do my head in, though. At least it gives me something to do, particularly since her times being around is usually when few others are, so my only options usually are to hunt.

Targ can afford 30k bounties? Wow.
- (Eleusis): Ellodin says, "The Fissure of Echoes is Sarathai's happy place." - With sharp, crackling tones, Kyrra tells you, "The ladies must love you immensely." - (Eleusian Ranger Techs): Savira says, "Most of the hard stuff seem to have this built in code like: If adventurer_hitting_me = "Sarathai" then send("terminate and selfdestruct")." - Makarios says, "Serve well and perish." - Xaden says, "Xaden confirmed scrub 2017."
Bounty rewards seem to have gone up recently, especially for a (to be blunt) total nobody like Chajee. There's a bounty on the board for @Jhui that's either 15 or 25k.

I know! I was so thrilled, because I am a broke novice and I knew that she was around my skill so it was like a thumbsup from above telling me "Yeah might as well try."

You have to get the questions spread over several people! I probably would drive my mentor @Aegoth crazy if it wasn't for the fact I have all of Mhaldor to shamelessly bother as well.
