Dajio attempted to steal from me and failed tremendously.
"Don't even think about it." *snap* "I warned you..."
He got nothing, and he and @Aerek duked it out for a bit before he ran to his ship ((Really should have a "Can't board with hostile actions in the last 3 minutes" going on there)) Though, not before screaming at me, "YOU'RE NEXT" because why?
Reasons.
I've seriously no clue why he's threatening to kill me now besides that but. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I will be totally honest - I don't pay a lick of attention to people's race or descriptions. You may describe yourself as the most hideous troll but if you play an awesome character I will always see you as awesome and attractive. You may describe yourself as the most luscious siren, but I will again just see you via your interactions.
I am terrible at the most part of a text based game - reading the descriptions and envisioning them. I just paint mental pictures of people via interactions (which has nothing to do with what the player thinks the character looks like, lol).
I picked siren for the pretty nice stats and bonus skill. I liked the thought of a pretty human-like creature.
I didn't like that I have prove I'm not a sexalt or "one of those".
I really dont don't like the random tells from people who I think may want to talk to me about Targossas or other general rp, and it quicklygoes to the gutter.
I'd like to have Eli make lots of friends and acquaintances, but it's almost like an uphill battle, if not for @Torrin, @Daemo, @Aodfionn, @Carmell, @Frederich, @Alekxz, and a few people from Mhaldor, I'm fairly certain I would have quit by now.
Torinn Chiragh, Herald of Fire says, "Good, darn it." Talamond Averial says, "You are the least charming siren ever."

100% this haha. I never ever read people's actual descriptions. Glad to know I'm not the only one who envisions characters this way!

Beauty comes out more in personality than looks, anyway.
Edit: Hi Gory, been forevs. We should catch up at some point.
And I love too Be still, my indelible friend That love soon might end You are unbreaking And be known in its aching Though quaking Shown in this shaking Though crazy Lately of my wasteland, baby That's just wasteland, baby

I had this problem with Quisse from ages 18-25/26, despite the personality of my character. It does go away. Eventually. But I feel your pain. To channel my inner Quisse: it's a genetic disadvantage.
That's pretty true for me too. I check descs usually when a particular part of an interaction alerts me to it.
Like, Aodfionn's a troll. We know this because he actively RPs as a tall, gangly troll. Just like we know Mingmei is fat. Because she actively roleplays a fat joke. It's comes out in her emotes and says. I dont know (or care) what race she is, but always have to make a quick salad or bring bread whenever I talk to Mingmei.
I try not to judge sirens (but I do a lot, sorry @Ellipise)
And I do, admittedly, fall prey to prejudice against sirens (not that they all deserve it).
If a Targ newbie says hello and smiles and titters/giggleblushes unimaginatively I instantly check for an over-the-top sexy siren sexalt desc. I get it right about 80% of the time. It's never a stunningly attractive troll babe who lives for science or a foxy dwarf with a cool beard who is also a secret El'Jazira ideologue. Nope. Innocent F-boobed schoolgirl char with the nubile body of a voluptuous Siren dripping with desire so common.
There are notable exceptions in Targ. @Quisse is a beautiful siren, but memorable -because- her char is basically an asexual scientist type with chilling devotion to a god of fire. @Tesha lays the cutesy-nice siren stereotype (glitter glitter teehee) on thick but ALSO roleplays a crazy fanatic priestess of Light who will try to three-tank your city if she gets mad. She's basically a zealot warrior princess.
A frenzied cleric screams, "Like more than one halo!"
Pretty much everything Halos just said. I almost always assume Siren =sexalt. Though I don't mean to. I do however (for the sake of fairness, honest) engage in conversation in the hopes of being proved wrong.
He is a coward who has to bring two friends as backup to jump people hunting.

Off your high horse @Kiet . You know damn fine why the stigma is there, play devils advocate all you like, but ask either of those CLs and they'll likely tell you they dealt with that assumption when the were 18yo level 30s. I'm not at all saying the assumption is always correct, hence my willingness to put it on standby, but siren (and raja for some crazy reason) are top choices for sex alting and you bloody well know it.
He is a coward who has to bring two friends as backup to jump people hunting.
Being female I'll be the first to say that I specifically opted not to play a Siren, despite loving their mythos, because of their stigma. But let's be honest, one hardly has to be a Siren in Achaea to get endlessly propositioned.
Then, God forbid you are naturally flirtatious (not in the giggly teehee way, just witty teasing) because for every one person you might actually like, or do something with (yeah, queue fake shock and horror as if it's oh so taboo in IRE to do these things like mature adults), you have to fight off ten more with a stick.
There are probably at least as many other races who do the same thing, they just don't get the same instant eye roll and, "Oh look, another one", probably mostly due to the typical descriptions @Halos brought up.
Hey man, no one's forcing you to make silly assumptions that perpetuate a problem. "You know why the stereotype is there" is not a very good defence either IC or OOC
Personally, I don't assume anyone a sex alt unless they're blatantly not joining an org (or trying to advance in it) AND have a ridiculous desc AND are perma level 15.
Automatically assuming that a siren is a sexalt despite whatever description or action they've done just puts undue pressure on the ones who want to play it straight. Not to mention dehumanizes people sexalt or no. Not saying many of them haven't done any ridiculous or downright horrible things, but I'm not sure taking a whole race and sweeping them under the rug of horrible generalizations and assumptions are a good idea either.
I say just let people live out what they want to live and stamp on them hard only if they're being predatory or completely inappropriate buggers. Anything else just mires a community in bad gossip and drama.
I got one of my friends to start playing... During char creation she was like"ooo siren!!" And I didn't think twice about it. She wanted it and i let her.
She is not tech savvy and reads every line in the game... Yet to be propositioned.
If someone's description has massive tits I can see and tries to imply I'm drooling after them, I will assume they're a sexalt, or nothing better than. Race doesn't really come into it, though most of them do seem to be sirens. If I'm talking in tells and I can't see them, I won't assume anything unless it consists of 'Sexalt tells you," We should have sex."
Both my alts, who I made Sireni to see how pandemic this is, Had no problem with this issue despite being the happy, laughing, flirty stereotype. It may have to do that I avoided using the phrases commonly thought as indicators that don't directly relate to boobs and butt 'womanly figure', 'flat stomach', toned legs/thighs' etc.
That said, people are forgetting the number of sex alts made in other races including the Horkval with tentacles and exoskeleton that moved to reveal more port holes.
I'm not certain what the whole "it didn't happen to me/my friend" thing means?
It didn't happen to you, therefore it doesn't exist? Or, like, it's not so bad and it's being blown out of proportion? Your description has legs and describes hips, therefore it's your fault ( though most of the people who accost me in a manner have never seen Eli)?
I am not certain what I am supposed to take away from comments like that?

To be clear, I don't check for a tits-heavy descs without strong hints of coquettishness.
With
me, it's always the quality of an interaction which prompts a "look
person". Your emotes and says and tells and poses should shape opinion
about you before your appearance does. I also don't look at an
adventurer description as foundation of roleplay so much as see it as
fodder for it.
(To use Quisse as an example again, I was genuinely surprised to see she is a Siren and not a
Human or Tsol'aa or Grook. She comes off as a Megyn Kelly, not a Megan Fox)

I wasn't trying to imply it isn't a problem... Just that it's a specific problem that needs specific solutions to it's problem. I've discussed my options to the solutions in other threads ..

@Halos : I always wondered what you and the guys think I roleplay as. The regular-Cyrenian-me can generally make the Targ facepalm in 1-2 minutes. I try to lay off it a bit while visiting you guys, but I am not concretely sure it ever worked.
That said, interaction with sexalts can be lulzy if you react to it properly. There was one at Centre Crossing that tried to pounce me to initiate whatever the hell they do with themselves, I responded each pounce with a hug. I mean Silvy is not really an evil person, but trying to outhug him doesn't generally work. I had no intention of going anywhere or doing anything, but it was one of those times when something the players usually facepalm at getting beaten at its own game.
Wasn't there a guy who got propositioned because his name was feminine? Achaean predators are like the illegal deep sea fishers. Cast wide nets, ecological damage be damned.
My comment was to point out that being a siren doesn't automatically flag you for ridiculous propositioning. Description and actions go a loooooooong way to that.

He was following me around Moghedu earlier. Dochitha and Medi both showed up after him. I lol'd . It was fun.
Fine fine line between flirting and treating a siren like a piece of meat. Some people just go way overboard.
