A day of firsts! Led Mhaldor in my first prayer, posted my first news, got to level 73 as a first... and also got housefavoured for the first time. Not sure what that is exactly, but it's nice to get some sort of recognition!

Slightly miffed about so-called "novices" (18 years, artied to the teeth, 102844% my might) explaining to me that our RP standards for newbies were too high. Don't really get why you make the effort to play a MUD if you don't like reading.

Hmm I haven't actually noticed this. In fact I've seen the opposite out of most of the obvious ones.
Maybe the influx from the other games is coloring this somewhat?
Penwize has cowardly forfeited the challenge to mortal combat issued by Atalkez.
As far as I've seen Targossas' RP standards are, essentially, don't be blatantly OOC in public. If that's too high for them then yeah, this probably isn't the game for them.
Also slightly miffed that it was brought here to begin with, not to mention that it is a blatant lie. It isn't RP standards that I had issue with, but novice requirements that are more fitting for higher level house advancement. It also has nothing to do with not wanting to read. If you're going to complain about something, don't do so in public and please try to get it correct.
It annoys me to no end when people comment on something they know nothing about aside from a vague reference from one side of a conflict. Especially when they go as far as to insinuate that this game is not for someone because they cannot help but be OOC in public. Where did that even come from?
Going as far as saying that the target of the complaint (who is me) should not be playing a text game because she does not like to read, which is as far from the truth as it could possibly get, is extraordinarily offensive and malicious.
As for what happened to me today, I bashed for a while, did some -gasp- reading that I quite enjoyed, and played around with mudlet.
Give us -real- shop logs! Not another misinterpretation of features we ask for, turned into something that either doesn't help at all, or doesn't remotely resemble what we wanted to begin with.
Thanks!
Current position of some of the playerbase, instead of expressing a desire to fix problems:
Vhaynna: "Honest question - if you don't like Achaea or the current admin, why do you even bother playing?"
Especially when they go as far as to insinuate that this game is not for someone because they cannot help but be OOC in public. Where did that even come from?
It came from the supposed complaint that the RP standards were too high. The RP standards are "Don't be OOC." because that's what the game demands. They're basically the minimum the standards can be while fitting within the game. If some hypothetical person thinks that those standards are too high then yes, I'd say that this isn't the game for them. Turns out that that wasn't actually the complaint at all, so great. I'll still continue to talk hypotheticals based on vague forum posts though!
As far as complaints about novice requirements, I'm not sure what the Academy requirements even are these days. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them were possibly a bit more involved than people might necessarily expect, though. However, I will say (being as vague as I can, which is pretty easy since I'm not privy to most of the discussions) that there's a fair amount of work being done on changing novice training and House progression in Targossas right now, so if you're willing to stick with it you might see some changes soon, and may even be in a position to influence what those changes are.

rp standards, yes.

The novice requirements in the Academy are not that bad - I have had quite a few "true" novices going through them without any issues whatsoever (You can ask @Magenta) and I never had problems with them coming back from Aetolia or Imperian when I needed a break from Achaea. Elawien is one of my first characters that I've had on the Good side of the game save for Maive, who was my very first one (but nothing happened with her, weird!) :surprised:
Today, as of right now, the Academy tasks are a lot easier than what they were when I was on Maive. So, I have to thank @Magenta and a few other people I can't remember off the top of my head for that.
To back me up on this, @Orzo stated them to be: "I don't find the Targossas ones that bad and actually pretty important since "Good" isn't exactly like the definition of real world Good. I did like the Ardent Handbook, and bought one on Orzo, since it has a ton of good information, pretty well written, and the lore is kinda neat and you will basically be totally lost if you do not read it and know basically the standard definitions for our factions." ----------------
As for what I did today, I got a free burger from Ruby Tuesday for my birthday next week and two coupons from DQ for an ice cream cake and BOGO blizzards with the title: "We didn't forget your birthday?! SEE!" :chuffed:
I also, um, did some more on upcoming changes because I'm useful when I want to be.
Your soul cries out in ecstasy as it reaches new heights of power. You have advanced to level 91.
You have reached the illustrious level of 5th Order of the Hyperphysical.
I stayed up until 3am last night and had an exam in Marketing this morning at 7. No idea how I did but was entirely worth to get this level. 8 more to go!

Today I learned how not to write a public post.
Definitely funny, I've been laughing at my mess up all day.
