An old log now, but I do strange things like this when I'm bored, usually for the benefit of newbies to give them some atmosphere. It has no significance, just a little bit of flavour to the surroundings and makes the city seem more alive.

Kaevan is always one of my favourite people to RP with and at because he just takes whatever I start and runs with it. I also thought the city emote at the end was very well-timed (that actually happened! It's a regular occurrence in Mhaldor, just happened to come right on time).

This is more silly RP that came from an OOC joke on an OOC clan

Inara whispers to you with a fluid Cyrenian accent, "Hey man."

You tilt your head and listen intently to Inara.

Inara whispers to you with a fluid Cyrenian accent, "I got some new stuff."

With a slight raise of the eyebrows, you perk up your ears and turn your attention towards Inara.

Inara flashes a tiny package in her left hand.

Ellodin says in a quiet but clear voice, "Smuggler!"

You say in a stern yet forgiving voice, "Tell me more."

Lachlan gives a horrified gasp.

Inara whispers to you with a fluid Cyrenian accent, "It comes straight from the Southern Vashnars."

Inara waggles her eyebrows comically.

You say in a stern yet forgiving voice, "Oh that's the nicer Vashnars." (classy)

You nod your head slowly, trying to wear your best wise look.

Inara nods her head affirmatively.

Inara says with a fluid Cyrenian accent, "One sec."

Inara begins to flap her wings powerfully, and rises quickly up into the firmament.

Verily says to Lachlan in a warm, downy voice, "Yes. Something unpleasant."

Inara descends from above.

Inara nods her head emphatically.

Calleis raises her hand in greeting to Inara and says "Hi!"

Inara whispers to you with a fluid Cyrenian accent, "So, you interested?"

Lachlan frowns at Verily.

Inara gives Calleis a friendly squeeze.

You say to Inara in a stern yet forgiving voice, "Depends, how much." (negotiations 101, don't act interested)

Inara whispers to you with a fluid Cyrenian accent, "Free sample, man." (drug dealing 101, always get them hooked first)

You say in a stern yet forgiving voice, "The forging market is bad." (negotiations 102, talk down your resources)

Lachlan squints suspiciously at her surroundings.

You say in a stern yet forgiving voice, "Times are tough."

Inara nods her head slowly, looking very wise.

You say in a stern yet forgiving voice, "Oh free eh."

Inara's eyes sparkle with amusement at you.

Inara's eyes gleam with generosity.

You say in a stern yet forgiving voice, "Sounds like my price range."

Inara gives a delicately embossed letter to you.

Inara says to you with a fluid Cyrenian accent, "Enjoy."

Inara waggles her eyebrows comically.

Inara gives Ellodin a compassionate hug.

Verrucht narrows his eyes and then blinks rapidly, several times.

Inara gives you a compassionate hug.

Inara gives Calleis a compassionate hug.

Lachlan peers at Verily unscrupulously.

Though the parchment of this letter is so thin as to be nearly transparent, it is surprisingly

strong, and shimmers with a faint silken finish. A pale wash of carmine colour suffuses the

parchment, the slight irregularity of the wash a hand-crafted, artistic impression rather than one

of carelessness. Delicate swirls decorate the margins in graceful arcs of gold and silver, framing

whatever words may lie between them.

I'm not the strongest role-player around, and while this was going on I was kind of on the phone and prolly should have been logged off -- but it's still pretty neat. Mostly cleaned up but I did leave some comings and goings for context.

Pigment vials swinging at her side, Kyrica, the Muse of Visual Artistry arrives from the up.

You doff your hat cordially at Kyrica, the Muse of Visual Artistry.

Kyrica, the Muse of Visual Artistry sweeps an arm across her chest with a crisp, but fluid bow.

Kyrica, the Muse of Visual Artistry says, "Faolin...who drifts in from the ocean on a rolling crest of foam and tempest."

You say, "And climbs as high as she can go to look down upon the world below."

Kyrica, the Muse of Visual Artistry says, "The eagle's nest gifts one with a unique view."

Kyrica, the Muse of Visual Artistry draws her delicate hand in a wide semi-circle, encompassing the vista below.

Your mouth turns up as your face breaks into a smile.

@Katzchen: He is currently pinned up, inverted, by his arteries tied around spikes in the Cathedral's Torture Chambers.

No, the 'grinning mischieviously' stock emote has always been part of Niz's RP. It's the stock 'smile' emote that he will smack newbies about for using. Also, 'laugh'.

This is the guy who set us a task to consider and prepare how we show our 'Mhaldorian' emotions to the world :P Also he is very strict with novices. I guess that starts after the conversion.

That said, it was a fun little thing to sit down and do, this is my new 'smile' generally only used around heathens.

@Katzchen: Personally, I've always really liked the 3rd person message for enabling Vengeance: "A deeply unsettling smile crosses Nizaris's face." But, I'm not sure if one can emote that without getting shrubbed, because we're not allowed to emote combat abilities?

I could be wrong @Nizaris but I'm under the impression the rule applies to emoting combat abilities that are meant to act as illusions to fool a person's system. Emoting a smile that appears that you have vengeance enabled may be a fringe issue there, it's difficult to say for certainty. Cardan, Tecton, Someone Powerful, any input on this?

Just modify it enough that it wouldn't be picked up by triggers, and don't use it in combat situations.

You can always keep the essence of the thing, but reword it slightly.

For instance, 'A deeply unsettling smile spreads slowly across Nizaris's features.' I'd think would be usable.

It would've probably gone a lot better if, at any point in that, you'd decided to tell me you were trying to join Mhaldor instead (or a response in some form to anything I said)! I didn't hear about your attempt to join until afterwards and just assumed that you'd gotten lost.

But yeah they should probably change it so that CR5 and above don't automatically appear in the list of people who can induct.

I didn't know who you were. Should I?

Anyway, it was fun. And I went already knowing that dying could be a very possible result of my intentions...of course if I had joined I'd have died a lot, but I am already dead, so didn't mind much.

But, for the future, I hear people say here "Mhaldor is not for everybody", and I've come to think that perhaps "Not everybody is for Mhaldor". If someone goes with a strange story, maybe you could have fun trying to take him/her to your path.

I say this because my plan was to say that (for a very good reason) I needed to be in Mhaldor, but that I was Good (Shallam was my previous city).

You didn't need to know who I was, but it's kind of hard to try and roleplay with someone who doesn't respond at all to anything you do. I'd honestly thought you were afk because you weren't answering, so I was just going to try to rob you, then probably either kill you or snap you to follow and drop you somewhere, depending on how charitable I was feeling at the time.

We have a lot of people in Mhaldor (and try to convert a lot) with strange stories, it's just a shame the misunderstanding happened and we didn't get to hear yours. You can always try again through the proper channels, but if you don't, best of luck to you.

It might be a bit of special snowflake RP so be warned. I've always wondered about the alchemical energies and the Oceans given its absolutely chockers full of salt and for a while Tahquil has been pulling away from them. This is a bit of self-gratifying RP with and old friend.
