I'm aware that I should be orienting my stats towards strength and constitution, but are there notable baselines that I need to hit? I'm a dual-cutting Xoran, and I have the option to either spec for Strength or Con at this point. I intend to explore combat soon, and I wanted to know before I make a commitment towards any specialization or traits. The way that I'm reading it, I could easily go for something balanced around 16 str and 15 con or vice versa before the boost from fury.

Sorry if this seems negative, it's not meant to be. Just trying to explain so I can be given the proper help. Also I apologize for the length. Also if not allowed to post, than delete.

I have to start a little about my past gaming experience because I think it ties into my issues.

I played Oregon trail and legend of the red dragon in the 90s on PC, they were very simple DOS games. My first console RPGs were Dragon Warrior 3 and Final Fantasy 4, were one utomatically got your skills as you leveled. I hated FF7 and those that came afterwards.

After that from 1997 to 2011 I played table top RPGs. I played chaotic neutral (not chaotic stupid) Damage dealers, mainly warriors or monks in DnD. All I had to do was roll initiative (when applicable) and use my one attack. There was no Role-playing, you talked like you would in that situation and unless it was something severe, metagaming / OOC was ignored.

I tried to be a healer but defending myself would always come before healing the party and people complained that I wouldn't sacrifice my character to heal the parties. There also was no use of skills, which is why I quit because I was tired of nothing but hack and slash.

I have played a few mmorpgs but there was no role playing in any of them. Final fantasy XI, City of Villians, DCUO, Champions online, WOW. I never had to use macros because all I ever had to do was my one attack. Again all I played was a damage dealer. I tried to player a healer once in FFXI, every party had a power leveler or power healer. Before I knew it, I was high level and couldn't keep up with the healing because I didn't learn as I was leveling. And the PVP experience in these online games ruined PVP for me, I don't like it.

FAST FORWARD TO ACHAEA

An acquaintance suggested Achaea on reddit. I looked at the class skills and was immediately overwhelmed by the sheer amount per class but I liked grook and knew it was for me, especially since we both have add. Being a frogman Eleusis was the only city that made sense to call home. Two out of three choose themselves. Now for class.

I saw RP was required. I figured playing a smart mouthed antagonistic clown that went around bopping NPCs on the head and throwing water balloons at my fellow characters would be easy. So I chose a Jester and learned my perception of the class was wrong. The class is a gypsy that uses pranks instead of curses. And If I went pranks exclusively the character would be very weak and frustrating to play.

The game was refreshing at first. It was different, especially the other players and that difference made me wanna learn how to and play even more.

I'm very introverted and don't feel comfortable asking others questions In game, especially over open chat. I prefer to find answers in forums, where the spotlight isnt on me. Unfortunately I am not finding any basic teaching walk through strategy guides or suggestive class build guides, which should be able to be done without giving away the game. And are found on pretty much every game forum I've been on.

I am near level 60. I didn't or dont feel like I learned anything from the newbie section and because I went the wrong way from the jail, by the time I found BEKU, I was about to be tossed from the Newbie rooms. I still make the mistakes of occasionally attacking the wrong NPCs in rooms outside the city (Mingruk for example) in Manara.

I am tattood but I don't think about them, pretty sure if I check at least my boar tattoo is gone. Someone told me how to auto drink potions so all I do is check my inventory on occasion and refill when necessary. And I've only leveled with a tutor once because I'm pretty sure Jester isn't the class for me.

Also I had my first insanity warning this morning when I was saying goodbye to another character, wishing them good luck and reminding them not to forget to clot. I didn't think telling someone to remember to use first aid on their wounds was OOC but I guess I was wrong.

At first I wasn't taking notes but at some point, I realized I needed to because there was way to much being thrown at me all at once. I kinda wish the newbie section would've capped my level & xp but not let me leave until I completed tasks that showed I had a general understanding of how to play. I was reading on google and saw someone give suggested areas to train in for specific level ranges. They mentioned clotting to stop bleeding. Something I wish I knew about 30 levels ago but didn't see anything about that in game or on the forum. Probably would've stopped me from dying near or over 30 times.

I kept getting told to complete my tasks. I did and joined a house to complete the tasks. Now I'm getting hounded to select a mentor. I don't get the clock conversion and help time/date isn't helping, and every mentor seems to be getting off withing an hour or two of me logging on. I get on 12am est to 5am est majority of the week but will get on during the day if I have free time.

On top of that, the mentors all have requirements of their students and the house wants to know my character goals. I don't think surviving, enjoying life and spending my days learning who I am, would be an appropriate response. I'm a newb, how am I gonna have real character goals if I don't know how to play the game?

I want to play a PVE class/character closer to my personality. One where I can be introverted and don't have to say anything unless need be. Especially since people in other rooms wanna talk to me and distract me during combat, or I dont see someone trying to converse with because I'm in combat.

(How talking to anyone not in your room/area without using a tell, isn't insanity for anyone not a psychic is still beyond me but that's the same in all MMOs. Lol)

A class where I have a full suit of armor from head to toes. And where all I need is a weapon to deliver 1 main attack like bop and a shield. A class super simple (yes I said that), where the other skills dont matter too much in PVE and I can learn to use them over time at my discretiom, or are auto skills that I dont have to do anything with. And where I don't need any special items like artifacts.

An Infernal looking for redemption, sworn to defend nature in Eleusis seemed like a good idea but the class is banned, I don't get why. I've read monk requires artifacts and use of multiple combat skills. I guess that maybe leaves blademaster, idk. I don't wanna give up on the game yet.

The game is starting to feel like a corner store job and not a game. I'm taking a break to try and read more on it.

IRL I am a security guard. They trained me in a bunch of skills I never use and the company makes us take refresher courses at least once a year to keep us from forgetting anything. All I do is watch cameras for 7 hours, walk around scanning stickers on my phone for the 8th hour, while praying no situations arise to cause my anxiety to spike. I want my character's class to be just as simple if possible, all I wanna do is log on relax and have fun. There's enough stuff going on to stress about, I don't want my character/achaea to add to them.

If you made it this far, thank you for your time and any advice or information you can share.

With that said, I would greatly appreciate any help on picking a class that will be best for this endeavor. PVE will me my main focus as I will be required to farm IG gold to purchase any credits.

Hi Achaea! I just retired with 2900 credits from Imperian, I was wondering what the best class to reach Dragonhood the quickest with might be? PvP in Achaea looks really interesting but before I get into anything outside of group combat I'd like to reach dragonhood. This is my main goal when starting my character so any advice on how to use my credit pool to reach that goal would be awesome! This game has so many different classes and flavors that are really interesting to me so I'm really open to any suggestions. I'm looking for a bashing monster that I can reach 99 with the fastest as well as stack up some gold to start exploring other avenues of the game.

Hello! I was wondering if anyone with great experience, mostly on the PvE side of things, could suggest a few classes that would be the most worthwhile to heavily invest in (as in learning class/major/mini skills, buying artefacts for etc.). The idea is to be able to get to Dragon, try to do tough quests with this class, fight the toughest denizens, explore the most dangerous areas of the game, have good enough personal utility I guess, not be afraid to go exploring, etc. Being able to provide support in group combat is also a big plus, but not really the main focus! I'm really not sure which class would get the most out of such a kind of investment in it, unless Dragon is the answer so anyone can get there eventually... 😅

I've been debating on retiring my current main character for awhile now due to a number of reasons(dormancy, my current class makes me want to quit the game(why serpent so hard? :( and that I feel like I messed up my characters story in a few ways). With that said, I'd have about 3400 credits to play with and was wondering if I could get some advice.

A little about me - I've played off and on for years and even when I get burned out I always find my way back here, which must say something! My biggest focus is combat with hunting/gold accumulation a close second. Sad to say even after playing for so many years I haven't reached Dragonhood on any of my characters. (HOW DO YALL DO IT!?!?!?!) So this time around, I'd really like to dig my feet in and achieve things that I never did before. I.e Dragon, house/city leadership, etc.

I've played runewarden, paladin, and serpent in my time here and serpent has to be one of the hardest and most frustrating I've ever played(part of the reason why I am not liking my time here atm). Runewarden was probably my favorite due to being so tanky, multiple weapon specs and was the class that I achieved OG Achaean Knighthood with!(Why did they get rid of knight houses, these new knighthood clans are a joke!) Paladin was a close second due to damnation, but Targ makes me sad nowadays.

If I do re-roll, I'm debating between Apostate, Alchemist, Infernal, Shaman. I have 0 knowledge on any of the new classes(psion, pariah, and the elementals so I'm not sure if I should devote my time to something so new that might just end up changing entirely).

Since I've been away for nearly a year and a half, I'm not quite sure how the world is in Achaea. I'm essentially looking for a class that is good at hunting and a great duelist/skirmisher. How would I best use my 3400 credit pool to further my goals? If it's any help , I do not have the extra cash flow at the moment to buy the package deals Achaea has so I will just be using the 3400 credit pool on top of anything I get in game.

Trying to decide on which class to multiclass, I'm currently a dex spec Serpent. As far as I have gathered no other class benefits from Dex like Serpents do, however I still want to multiclass something fun, Jester or Depthswalker. My question is between the two, which would gain more use of dexterity?

So, last time I was active, the knight classes looked quite a bit different. It was still forging, chivalry, and runelore. Naturally, I chose dual cutting with the new weaponmastery specialisation upon my return just because that was what is most familiar to me, but I figured I'd tap the hivemind a bit for some more in-depth pros and cons of each. If it helps at all, I imagine I will mostly stick to denizen hunting, but I do wish to finally give combat a serious go (it only took 20 years).

Thanks in advance!

I am planning on going back to Eleusis, and while I'm not going to make any drastic steps (maybe I will like Runie?), I mostly have sylvanic artefacts and understand that class more. Since it's been a while since I've played, though, I was wondering what the current state of these three classes are (and, honestly, the state of the 'forestal' conflict which is probably one of the reasons I disembarked from the Eleusis train back in the day).

Thanks!

Edit: realizing I did this in the wrong tab and didn't use "Ask a question" -- my b.

I am an Apostate and it is awesome. I love pretty much everything about it, Mhaldor, and its flavor... BUT my mind keeps looking at Serpent and like "oh man, that looks so nice". Then I have internal dialog and search forums and look at nearly every post about Apostate and Serpent. I'm going to be diving into combat soon (as my primary focus), and coding a system around it as I go. Additionally, I want to get dragon (level 86 right meow).

If I switch to Serpent:

- I lose the tankiness and baalzadeen

- Would need to reincarnate and possible get an artifact dirk

- Would need to get lessons to tri-trans again

- Combat would be more complex and timing for lock stuff is more critical? (just going by searching forums)

I have Trans all class and general skills, and trans fitness. I have these artefacts: SoA, a crimson-hued daegger (would need to tradein), a golden band of Draconic vigour, a Ceylonese ring, a ring of flying, a ring of Lucretian clarity, a Stygian pendant, an Amulet of the Will (would need to tradein?!), and goggles of whitesight (hey, I spent a ton of time bashing in the tundra, blizzards are annoying).

Can you tell me why I should just stay Apostate or switch to Serpent? I don't care so much about the credit costs.

I'm fiddling with my Occultist Abilities and finally getting around to making the aliases, key bindings, macros for my abilities. I am setting up 2 to 3 letter aliases for all my abilities, but won't that be really difficult to do when you're trying to do three to four things per equilibrium time?

When I played bard, I aliased everything spamming back and forth between deciding venom, jabbing with venom, deciding song, singing song song while playing manage harmonics minigame was too much for me and I had to write a script to handle deciding my venoms and deciding songs for me. I wanted to know if Occultist is the same way. From what I had read, it was less exact-affliction intense and more spam afflictions and watch for an opening to secure a victory, which sounded more accessible for a combat novice like me.

So what would you suggest for setting up my initial reflex package for Occultist so that I can get my hands dirty in the arena that will put me on the right path to enlightenment?

Hey everyone,

So it's been like 3.5 years since I last played. And for some reason, I pulled up the Achaea forums and thought wow, you need to start playing again.

Thing is, I have more or less zero interest in the class I am now (Tri-Trans Magi). I'm looking for some suggestions from people with experience with all of the changes that have happened.

I've been;

Blademaster - Loved it, loved the skills and the flavor. Did not like how difficult it was to track limbs and try to pull off a Brokenstar. I'm sure BM's have other killpaths, but that's what I was working towards. Is the bashing still pretty weak? Is the limb counting still pretty difficult? I should mention I'm not against putting work into learning a class, I just had no luck with it back when I was a BM in the Ashura.

Infernal/Runewarden/Paladin - Just lumping the Knights together here. I haven't been an Infernal or Paladin, never really liked the classes that force you to adhere to a certain aspect or religion, though I kinda feel like I'd like some RP mixed in with my PvP/PvE. I haven't been a Knight since Weaponmastery changes, back when they all got Chivalry, Forging, and Necromancy/Runelore/Devotion. I had some decent success with Runewarden, runeblades, and artifact broadswords, and I enjoyed it. DWC/DWB seems interesting, not really into 2H/SnB. Is there a more or less "balanced" spec here? Good at everything, does not excel at anything?

Monk - So every few years I would come back to Achaea, decide I'd like to play, make a monk, absolutely trash people on par with me, but once I really got down to some serious PvP, I'd start getting my ass handed to me, and just lose interest. Shikudo looks interesting. Changes into Kaido look a lot more balanced (Kaichoke having a room radius, etc.). I *didn't* like how you could just roll a Troll/Horkval monk, and more or less out damage most of your enemies. Is this still the case or are things a little more balanced now? Is the bashing still SCS/SDK/UCP/UCP or is it a little more involved? Again, haven't played Monk since I was in the Ashura, way back when.

I do have some artifacts on Mithil; SoA, hunter's belt, a mayan ring, possibly something else.

Classes I'd be interesting in learning are Shaman and Serpent. I wouldn't be against playing an aligned class if the skills look interesting though.
