Fallen gods, Fallen love

This poem was originally intended to be a personal poem in Ruth's journal in-game, but since it related a little to the fallen gods theme, I thought "Why not?" and decided to submit it anyway. Didn't win anything, but I'd like to share it just as well because I like poems! It features a bit of Ruth's repressed feelings through the Bal'met event and these feelings have been featured a little in one of @Jurixe's stories:

-------------------------------------------------------

Nine years have passed
Since that fateful day
When we met to speak.
On that same month,
Divine blood was shed.

I watched as wrath consumed you.
What once resided within your heart
Burnt furiously away into cinders.
Upset, you claimed I killed Them
... as though mortals could kill Gods!

Lord Apollyon's turn soon came;
He met the end that He deserved.
Suffering washed over me in waves.
Was this what true anguish was?
In grief, I went to you for comfort.

Could I have known, Mr. Smiles
This visit would be my last?
For in our conversations, I thought
That you had understood quite well
I ranked faith and duty before myself.

My punishment came - appropriate of sorts -
For a woman who aided the Worldreaver.
You pushed me away when Selene fell,
So that which bloomed in Caer Witrin
Wilted and perished in us as She did.

I kept count.

Nine years have passed
Since your last message.
Your ribbon had not eased my pain..
I guess it means Bal'met has left
His brand of scars on me as well.

"Mummy, I'm hungry, but there's no one to eat! :C"

This is great, and serves as a perfect example of how events in Achaea can test friendships and relationships, and force people to make difficult decisions based on their Achaean beliefs and standings. Good job. :)

  • Lovely reflection on something that we often skip out on and don't mention. Makes one think too!
