Planescape Torment's 'spiritual successor'

So apparently a company called inXile entertainment is making a new game called Torment: Tides of Numenera. Well not making it yet as there's a kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the game.  The game is essentially meant to have all the stuff that made PST a great game, just in a new setting/story. They got Monte Cook on as a writer (well he made the setting) and a lot of the original PST team is either involved or adding their approval. The game is funded at this point (quickest funded project in the history of Kickstarter actually!) but it's going for the stretch goals which will put extra stuff into the game to make it better.

  • This would be very cool. @Aerek would likely be interested.

"Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to? You will never find that [everlasting] life for which you are looking. When the gods created man they allotted to him death, but life they retained in their own keeping. As for you, Gilgamesh, fill your belly with good things; day and night, night and day, dance and be merry, feast and rejoice. Let your clothes be fresh, bathe yourself in water, cherish the little child that holds your hand, and make your wife happy in your embrace; for this too is the lot of man."

  • ...want.  WANT.

  • 4 days left!

They have some interesting ideas for player death so you won't just reload when dying which can be read about here

And apparently it's close to the 3.5 million stretch goal which adds Chris Avellone to the design team.

    So @Aerek rob a bank somewhere? :-\"
