The thing is, there are only very few kinds of IC activity that lend themselves to adventures and often, those are things that can already carry in-game rewards (hunting, seafaring), so in the end, the whole adventure system is simply a complicated way of increasing those rewards.

And sure, it's convenient if I can just quickly run up to Saar-elan and get 1-2 credits every day for hitting a GOTO alias, but it does nothing to spark a sense of accomplishment or to get me involved in new activities, so they might just as well hand out those credits for just logging in.

Chellen and a foray will cap renown.

While I agree Chellen is a little hard, there are forays that you can drag newbies to.

Edit: And if you don't wanna help your fellow citymates, or socialise with your City to get adventures done, well then that's on you. The option is there for solo play, and group play. One is just easier and takes far less time. As is basically normal.

We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

There's an easy arena adventure loop you can do to get 300 renown in about 10 minutes.

This.  And it isn't usually hard to get enough people to go bash Mhunna or Khulhedra (easier than Mhunna) for enough to get a free spin. You can even hit and run with relative ease.  You may not cap out, but it's enough for a couple credits and a spin.  Honestly, I like the system.  You can put as much time/effort in as needed/wanted. For the tougher ones it requires interaction with House, City, Order, etc.  3-5cr a day is not bad for a newbie honestly. And it only gets better up to 20 as you go along. I think it's at a decent balance point.

The one thing I think would be nice, if changed, is that resolutions should be swapped over to be adventures.  Maybe even keep the token prize for the resolutions since it is it's own currency.  And maybe make it so that adventures are auto-completed without embarking.
When the cheapest artefact a new player might want to invest in is 200cr, and transing a skill from scratch is 290, I can say with confidence that 5cr a day is, in fact, not enough.

Closing in on 80, which is where I would hope to be combat ready. https://ada-young.com/pastebin/ufoV_t-1

I'm not. That's with a few days of spins thrown in, too. 37cr bonus from a token win at the wheel (26cr for vial tradein and 11cr off the races).

I need 2876 more lessons to tri-trans. Luckily, at 5cr a day, I'll be there in only a little over three months. Then I just need 1750 for Avoidance and 200 for Parrying. I won't have Tattoos, though, so I'll be reliant on Citymates.

I don't necessarily want to be handed the cr. I'm willing to put effort in. But being purely reliant on others for any hope of progress is not good. And past Nur/arena, I -am- completely reliant on others. I don't have a ship, I have 4100 hp.

    tl;dr: 3-5 isn't enough.

Disagree. You can get 20. If you don't engage that is kind of on you. I get it, level 30 ismt taking out Z. But the opportunity is there where before it was 0.  I feel like this system is a decent compromise and addressed the issues that brought about its implementation.

You just said 3-5 was okay, now you're talking up the 20cr.

I engage regularly and consistently. But it doesn't change anything if no one has a boat, for example.

It's an improvement over 0, yes. Is it decent? Eh...

In Targossas we generally have a serenade renown hunt. Sometimes we do it at random other times if people ask. Just ask your citizens and they'll help you out, generally.
The Divine voice of Twilight echoes in your head, "See that it is. I espy a tithe of potential in your mortal soul, Astarod Blackstone. Let us hope that it flourishes and does not falter as so many do."

Aegis, God of War says, "You are dismissed from My demense, Astarod. Go forth and fight well. Bleed fiercely, and climb the purpose you have sought to chase for."

You _can_ get 20, which is factually true. As I said in my post, it's not engaging or wholly possible on a consistent basis. I've tried to engaged each moment I've been awake since the last reset and I've gotten nowhere. I talked on city, I sent out messages, I contacted people from other cities to fight me - nothing. (More below)

Just because the opportunity is there where it wasn't before doesn't mean you can't criticize the system. How appealing is a "Take it or leave it" argument? Most of the time I'm convinced that people are happier with the community shrinking.

This system exists in the other IRE games in a SIGNIFICANTLY better capacity with more engagement and possibility. There's far more in Achaea that requires UNBOUND credits so these daily credits go to things like - skills, artefacts, and class changes.

I don't see this as something that needs to be a compromise, it needs refinement. Achaea is supposed to be the biggest of the IRE games but it suffers from the least refinement in its systems. Before this system, Adventure was also clunky and difficult to use with only one realistic reward that could take a year or more to get. Other systems had much better rewards on a more consistent basis that weren't currency, such as bonus to experience or stats.

While trying to engage with my city, someone finally asked if people needed Chellen. Foolishly, I assumed this citymate would actually be helpful and I joined their group to fight. It was this person, another citymate, myself, and one more. Four people. I died instantly (twice, while I have over 7k health and a few defence artefacts and don't know why honestly).

It's not on _me_ when my citymate decided to ignore me entirely after I died (at the start of this) and proceeded to kill Chellen. Even when most of the group died. Continued to ignore me afterwards. When I brought up how this sort of thing makes it even harder for me to _TRY_ to rely on my city or others, in general, I was told I took things too hard and need to just roll with it.

So I paid the 6k gold and rejected the adventure.

Your post sums up my experience with the majority of Achaea players: Harsh. I don't even believe it was intentional, it's just the majority of the Achaea player base from my experience with other IREs.

It takes two people to socialize and work together and no matter how willing I am, or how much I'm trying to help others or ask for help, it rarely works out if everyone is selfish by design of the game(unintentional slight at thievery there). I understand my example is one time things went bad and they won't' all be this way, but this isn't the first time I've been trying to do these adventures. Since the system has come out I've only gotten to 20 credits three times. Twice from just happening to be around at the right second someone rushed off to a Foray. It would have been three times but I had _just_ told someone I walked away from the computer when a spontaneous foray started and in the 5 minutes it took for me to get back, they had started and I was locked out. I've never managed to rejoin that group. The actual third time was due to a lucky raid where I was able to take advantage of killing people and claiming bounties.

    ---
There is no solo-play option for the majority of people. I tried. If I could do it but it would take time, it would be less unreasonable. But it's fundamentally impossible for me to solo enough adventures to hit cap without other people.

The fact that there are two high-end adventures that let older, more overpowered players finish this in minutes is suspicious. Some forays can drag people in, but if they die and no one can revive them, they're out of luck.

    It comes down to this:

Do you want more people in the game so there are more people to interact with, hunt with, fight with, run city/house/order positions, design items/content for the game, and be integral to the game community?

    OR

Do you want the few who happen to have no real-life commitments or jobs that allow them to be online as much of the day as possible to work their asses off to be the pinnacle of strength so they can achieve the 20 credit daily limit and in a matter of years reach the same level as someone who's dished out some of their disposable income?

Another example: I don't consider myself a whale but it would take someone over 2 years of hitting the max of these free daily credits to reach my investment. I don't even have a second class.

So you can feel how long that is: The movie 'Death Wish' came out 2 years ago. The awful remake with Bruce Willis

@Maajida, Not gonna lie, due to limited forum playing time, I didn't read your whole post but I did get your message and don't care to try to help. I'll at least pay reject fees if we fail. I'll try to remember to hit you up, but if I forget and you see me around, just ping me. Im forgetful.

Evidently, "I don't care to" confuses people.  Im saying I will help. Maybe it's a southern thing?  Sorry for the interruption, you may resume your usual broadcast.

Definitely a southern thing, even as a southerner I had to read it twice before it registered the correct meaning in my brain.
And I love too                                                                          Be still, my indelible friend
That love soon might end                                                         You are unbreaking
And be known in its aching                                                      Though quaking
Shown in this shaking                                                             Though crazy
Lately of my wasteland, baby                                                 That's just wasteland, baby

Hmmm... maybe it wouldn't be so bad if you could get some renown just for being online and active for a couple hours. So the newbies who have to hunt/fish grind can look forward to slowly garnering cr for at least trying, and older players who have political paperwork and stuff to do can also be rewarded for putting in the effort.

Idk. I just skimmed over the posts, but, I think such a tweak could be nice for players to keep returning. So then, even just chatting, doing things with your faction, rp, exploring will be rewarded.

Sorry if this touches on something already said
