Paladin specs

What are the different pros and cons of the Weaponmastery specs for Paladin?

What's best for bashing vs Pvp?

I think I'll be able to trans my skills, get some avoidance and maybe get one or two level 1 weapons.

What do you recommend?

  • From my understanding :

    Bashing : 2h/DWC > DWB > SnB
    PvP : SnB > DWC > 2h > DWB

Someone may correct me on the orders but SnB  is definitely placed right in both lists.

Also: Atalkez is killing people with forged longsword SnB. So if arte's are a consideration: SoA > Longsword.

  • Doesn't SoA slow your attack?
  • KlendathuKlendathu Eye of the Storm
SoA is buckler speed for S&B

  • Did that get changed? :open_mouth: I remember it being cavalry speed

    Yes

  • In rather broad terms:

    Dual Cutting
Pros: Decent damage, best choice of affliction combinations, high limb damage, only specialisation with Lunge, gets Predict (Sawbones trait with shorter equilibrium time).
Cons: Can't combine prone with other afflictions, which limits approaches to certain strategies.

    Dual Blunt
Pros: High damage, very high limb damage, extremely reliable kill strategies.
Cons: Almost no afflictions, very little hinder from your offense, no Lunge, highly susceptible to hinder.

    Sword and Shield
Pros: Decent affliction choices, smash high (knocks off focus balance), shieldstrike (option of prone, sensitivity or stun after every four hits), very reliable kill strategies.
Cons: Mediocre damage, very low limb damage, no Lunge, no Predict.

    Two-Handed
Pros: High damage, high limb damage (if using warhammer), longer balance times (less to react to than dual cutting or sword and shield).
Cons: Susceptible to being hindered, may struggle against particularly tanky opponents, no Lunge.
  • SnB does mediocre damage?

In between sensitivity / nausea / falcon it does pretty decent damage. Probably the lowest of the specs, but it's still very much not mediocre. Demons as well for paladin.

    Agree with the rest.
  • SnB definitely has mediocre damage.

First, it has very little burst damage capability, which is one of the primary metrics of a class's damage potential. If you have to switch to a brand new target in the middle of a group fight, your initial damage pressure will be exceedingly low.

Second, nausea and demons don't scale with group size, which is where a class' damage potential is arguably most important. You can do limb or affliction kills in 1v1, but in group fights the ability to rapidly drop a target is far more important than the ability to knock somebody off of their focus balance. SnB is sorely lacking in that aspect.

My rankings would be as follows:

    Bashing: DWC >= 2h > DWB >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> SnB
    1v1 PvP: SnB > DWC > 2h > DWB
Group PvP: Artifacted DWB > DWC > DWB >2h >>>>>>>>>> SnB

  • For Paladin DWB isn't as good since we don't get q fervour stat. Otherwise snb and dwb are good, just takes practice.

    Also dwb hunting is amazing

I would still put snb above dwb, especially with an artie sword. Not only that, but it's cheaper to artifact up snb than dwb.

Artie swords are barely even noticeable for SnB.

Whether snb or DWB is better may come down to personal preference though. SnB takes a hell of a lot longer to kill with, but doesn't need to play as defensive and is more complex.

DWB is going to be bland if you like affs, and requires some defense because you don't hinder, but kills faster because it preps faster.

Both have very strong kill setups.

Granted, snb is basically made for pally whereas DWB there's basically no reason to be pally over runie. But pally is still fine for DWB. Runie is just better.

Paladin SnB is the strongest knight spec imo, since there are a few more ways you can kill someone with.

The prep times against super-artied top tiers who know how to play defense are top kek though

DWB's hinder, well DWB get a full 4s hinder every 6-8s, not to mention dagaz and rage. DWB has the best hinder of all knight specs.
