@Frederich that was an artefact vial, not a lucky vial.
    Huh. Neat.
  • Okay so.  40cr vial.  That still makes my statement no less about what it was.
  • AhmetAhmet Wherever I wanna be
@Nicola don't suppose people who got lousy boxes from token spins could get their tokens back, eh? :>
    Huh. Neat.
  • I'd -love- if I was able to buy someone's raffle tickets. Since it seems people are disappointed with them, I would happily buy it off them and make their day :)

    Then it isn't a 'gamble'.
    It's not supposed to be.
    I don't know why you're insisting that it shouldn't.
Because of the difference in goals.

RL casino (or lottery, or most any other gambling): The goal is profit. You want the total amount of winnings you give out to be less than the total amount your customers spend. So, when a customer pays $x to gamble, they have a chance of getting a lot more than $x, but on average they'll win less than $x, because that's the primary way you'll achieve your goal.

Achaea: The goal is for the "gambling" to either be more appealing than credit purchases or to make credit purchases more appealing than usual, to encourage people to spend money. The two main ways you can do that are increasing the value or offering exclusive (not normally purchasable with credits) prizes, and most likely you'd do both. Unlike gambling money to win money in RL, there's no advantage in having the average winnings be less valuable than the amount spent. If customers consistently (or what looks consistent enough from a potential customer's perspective) get less value than they would have if they purchased credits instead, the promotion probably isn't working very well for achieving its goal.

    Wish granted!

a miniature granite statue of Khalas, the Wanderer   -   25cr

While any copy of this wonderous artefact remains in the inventory of a player, it will ensure that Khalas is never released from his stony prison.

(I'd actually love a miniature of him >>)

P.S: I think Sena put it beautifully concerning game gambling and IRL gambling.

@Asmodron I'll make you one for two hundred bajillion credits :)

Your artwork is not nearly as refined to capture His true essence. hmph
  • Agree with @Antonius this is not supposed to be gamble, and not supposed to be viewed as gamble. It's not zero sum (bad spin goes to reward someone else's good spin).

It is a purchase from the game to gain something, it's a gain for sure. And that gain is set to be unexpected, for the thrill. It's a modification from direct credit purchase, to offer more fun.
  • To get an idea of the value of these things, I bought 40 boxes (1000cr) - opened 48 boxes for 6 talismans (4 wonders, 2 death), 39 ginseng, 14 goldenseal. It worked out at a 1/8 return on talismans to boxes, or 125cr spent per talisman. Details below, enjoy.

  • >Gamble on a box...

    >To get a piece to gamble on a globe.

The only thing I see worthwhile in that 1000cr is literally the brocade, which is worth about 300-400cr.
  • what does this line mean?

The box now shows 2 platinum whistles and 1 forsaken Ithin'urai!

does that mean you got 2 talisman pieces that could contribute to a platinum whistle?
    image
  • No it's like a spin thing, like a slot machine.

Penwize has cowardly forfeited the challenge to mortal combat issued by Atalkez.
  • ahh..so only way to win is matching all 3?
    image
  • You win a piece from the 'set' that is listed.  (Plat whistle is wonders, for instance).

If you get 2, you get a consolation prize of 1/4th of a box to do it ALL OVER again.

If you get none, you get 5-10 herbs for 25cr.

I'm a bit sad that you can't buy spins with bound credits anymore it seems - I have like 300 credits piled up because I haven't been able to wake much lately, but I'm moving soon so I'm low on RL $$. If this is still a possibility and I'm just being an idiot someone please enlighten me!

Edited: Duh, will try trading on market for unbound cr. Silly Aerei.

More on topic - I hate talisman pieces with the fury of a thousand suns and really miss globes.

I'm glad you can't buy spins with bound credits anymore because it's what enables the stupid crazy amount of spins people got in the past. You buy spins, you win or break even, you use those winnings to spin more, repeat.
  • I mean, I feel like if people want to shoot themselves in the foot by trading in arties for spins they ought to be able to do so. Gambling IRL works like what you said also - people use their winnings to continue gambling. There's no reason why we shouldn't be able to do so in Achaea except that admins aren't making money off of bound cr spins, so I can see why they removed them, but it is inconvenient to me as a player.

    - (Eleusis): Ellodin says, "The Fissure of Echoes is Sarathai's happy place."
    - With sharp, crackling tones, Kyrra tells you, "The ladies must love you immensely."
    - (Eleusian Ranger Techs): Savira says, "Most of the hard stuff seem to have this built in code like: If adventurer_hitting_me = "Sarathai" then send("terminate and selfdestruct")."
    - Makarios says, "Serve well and perish."
    - Xaden says, "Xaden confirmed scrub 2017."

  • Totally speaking for a friend, I didn't trade in an artie bow, prismatic ring, and endurance ring last time around at all...nope, not me!

(But for real though, I learned my lesson, I swear. I just wanna use my shiny credits.)
  • I spun the wheel for the first time this Friday (after grinding butterflies for about an hour) and got some bound credits. :)
  • I've spun 4 times... 1x Critical bonus, 3x Experience Bonus.

If I wanted more experience,  I would have bashed the hour I waited to spin..

  • You deftly spin a large, prismatic Wheel of Fortune. It begins whirling rapidly, emanating a loud, clacking noise.

You cease holding your breath and exhale loudly.

You have recovered balance on all limbs.

You inhale deeply and begin holding your breath.

A large, prismatic Wheel of Fortune slows down to a halt, rewarding you with a prismatic token.

You have received a raffle ticket!

13 artefact upgrade credits and a raffle ticket  Yikesx2

At least it was for free.

  • You holding your breath is what makes those logs for me :p
  • Yeah but I didn't get that from spinning the wheel.

My point is exp is not important to me. If it was, I would do something to work towards it.
