How do you pronounce your character's name?

The clue is in the title!

How exactly have you always imagined your characters name to be pronounced? I will start:

A - ee - olif (sounds like olive) - on.

  • Ah  - larn- da
  • It should be pronounced [ʃɑ:aɪ]
Every day sends future to past
Every breath leaves me one less to my last
  • It's like Ar - gus

    just with a y pronunciation, instead of a u.

  • I think the IPA would be [si:nə]. Like Xena with an S.
  • Wist-eh-ri-ah [ wɪˈstɛäː ]

I know people (mainly from the US, I've noticed) always say it like Wyst-eeeee-ria, but a lot of people around here (Australia) say it with an "eh" sound instead...
"Faded away like the stars in the morning,
Losing their light in the glorious sun,
Thus would we pass from this earth and its toiling,
Only remembered for what we have done."

  • A-pas
Replies the scorpion: "It's my nature..."
  • Mine is Cay-er. Could it be anything but?
    Innovate or Die.
  • Um. [ɛld].

    Tuh-vee. Tuhv...? Tfffvis?

    Tuh/Tee/T Vist-or, whatever.
  • "Woong".  Fairly simple.

I pronounce Tvistor as "Ar-khai", myself.

  • Low-dee. Which is apparently wrong, if you go by this Creedence Clearwater Revival track...

I won a competition awhile ago to have Chris Bourassa paint a picture of Lodi. My profile pic is the end product. :)
  • Yes, though the song is referring to Lodi, CA, rather than the village in Achaea, so pronounce it how you want. Now I'm debating which of those would be a more annoying place to be stuck.
  • Tan-arr. Depending on my mood, I might draw out the 'ah' in the middle.
  • EilonaEilona United Kingdom
    eye-LO-nah
  • If you go off Latin pronunciation, would be "Seye" (like in eyeball!), but I usually just say "Zay".
I'll probably be shifting over to Starmourn, seeya there!

And all this time I've been pronouncing it like "Hey wreck" with a silent H. So sorry.

    Ah-moo-NET. Stfu, @Mathonwy.
My avatar is an image created by this very talented gentleman, of whose work I am extremely jealous. It was not originally a picture of Amunet, but it certainly looks a great deal like how I envision her!
