Monk Mind Crush and Kai Choke

What's the difference on these between someone with say.. 12 int and someoen with 18 Int and a Level 3 Collar?

How hard have you been hit before?

  • the difference between someone being able stand there and laugh, and someone being able to drain your health until you die.

So they scale quite well then? Is Choke stronger than Crush?
  • choke you can hold breath and stop it 100%, crush is weaker but cant be stopped but also takes mana.

  • There was a time that people would spec specifically for that... lvl3 int/collar kai choke/crush builds knowing that it was insane... things have gotten a bit more complex since then, though having that in your backpocket is great.

The only really artifacted monk I can think of is Jhui.

Since I wouldn't have Jhui's knowledge and experience (which is enormous) just how well would an artifacted Monk do in todays Achaea? Not sure what race specialisation would be best, but Gauntlets, con/health arties, knuckles, int sash and collar with EQ diadem I'm guessing.

Is that not enough to compete these days, or is it just that nobody feels like being Monk and are enjoying other classes?
  • Monks were once the kings of bashing, now they're at the bottom of the list. They are still kings in group combat defense and raiding, but there have been many changes that have made them less so that have deterred people from the class, while other classes keep getting new toys so everyone's chasing the shiny new stuff. Monk is still a beast and many of the problems it used to have are not an issue anymore.

Even though it seems like there are not a lot of monks, many people have the monk class in their back pocket in case they ever need to use it, if that tells you anything.

  • I first learned monk, got artied to support monk, then switched. Initially, the switch was for better bashing, but after playing around with other classes, I realised that while I love monk for group PVP, I just don't feel like it's all that for 1v1, which is my preference. The slow prep, while trustworthy, falls short against most other classes in 1v1 in my opinion, unless you want to run every other hit, which is boring as hell. I do keep monk, but that's mainly for group support.
Mind you, this is all my opinion, and I'm sure there are some fantastic monk 1v1ers out there, I just don't like it that much myself.
    Omor Ceberek - Targossas
