So..Achaea is like that ex..

You know the one, the one you had a really bad break up with, but time passes you go back to her..you break up again. Then things change and again you find yourself wanting to go back to her.

So here we are, I'm wanting to return to the game. How ever so much has changed I'm not even even sure how to play anymore. I'm not even sure who all plays anymore or what houses or factions or honestly...starting as a newbie..at level 80 and over a 100 years old. My number 1 gripe of all time was the death penalty. I hated dieing and I am certain that has not changed a bit. How ever is it possible to jump back into the game considering where I am, heck I am not even sure what class I left as (90% certain was runewarden) I know I am enemy to at least a dozen places because back when it was fun..it was Real fun ;).

But on a serious note, is it possible to get back into the game now a days and another question..how does one go about making new friends in the game when y ou are a older character but you know no one, that's a fear of mine as well once I get in..no one to play with. Well lots of obscure questions I know, and please someone help me and the "ex' get back together :D

  • Come on back. Your enemy list might be shorter than you think, especially if they were Good organisations or Orders. Death penalty has changed, somewhat recently.

How long have you been gone?
  • I've had that problem time and time again, myself. And I came back just before this last event so it helped me find a way to invest myself in Davio again. I am as invested in him as I've been in 10 years. I've been lucky to have a certain few people around each time I return, but I am sure no one expects me to stay around and it's tough to find new people to make a real connection with.

With all that, if you can find someway to ignore all the things that made you leave and not try to expect too much of yourself right up front, you can probably find something to find that kind of spark.

  • Join the glorious Mhaldorian war machine and we well destroy all who oppose us while indulging in lighthearted banter and the blood of our foes.

But seriously, just jump in don't think and things will probably work out.
  • Truer words never spoken. Achaea IS that ex. I'll always want her, she'll always want me, we're really bad for one another, but whenever we're not dating someone else (or sometimes when we are...) I'm always going to take the opportunity to hit it again.

This is perhaps an even better analogy than cocaine. It's a lot easier to identify why cocaine is bad for you.

Completely of no help to this thread, but....

I can honestly say I've never had this happen to me before. I can honestly say that I've never actually broken up with anyone before. I can also honestly say I've never actually been on a date before. Ever.

Yes, I am that pathetic >P (I'm 29, so don't say I'm young yet ... which, I -am- young, but I'm not like... -young- >P)

    - The Blademaster class was introduced.
    - The Alchemist class was introduced, providing a non-forestal source of healing items. Forestal classes can only join Eleusis now, and alchemists can join any city but Eleusis.
    - Praying for salvation no longer costs additional XP.
    - Racial stats, bonuses, and penalties were overhauled. They've been largely replaced by a combination of racial specialisations (stat builds) and traits (perks/feats you can take every ten levels).
    - Theft via the force-command system has been removed. In its place, Serpents are now able to pickpocket gold and certain items from a person's inventory. This can also be done on NPCs.
    - Aligned classes are more closely aligned. Necromancers, forestals, devout, and occultists have all largely been pulled from cities that oppose them.
    - All of Sapience has been revealed, as well as most of the continent of Meropis. (See here)
    - More recently, simplified PK (PK with RP justification) replaced the old PK-cause system.

I recently came back after a year...or two of not playing. Let's just say that the first month was kind of overwhelming but I found old friends and made a ton of new friends through them! @sohl @mathonwy @kendrick @wyverex @trilliana to name a few :D

Anyways...my suggestion is just jump right in, use what you remember and go from there. I am still trying to figure out some skills in terms of combat but I am pretty much settled in. A lot of stuff has changed and it is starting to be like a whole new game over again.

Achaea is crack....I swore I would never come back. I even tried changing my password to about forty characters of random numbers and letters. Alas, here I am again. It's good to be back!

  • @Siena AWWWW :)

Anyhow- I honestly came back -just- for y600 stuff. That's all I wanted to see, then I was going to be -done-... yeah that didn't work. Achaea actually has helped me a lot with what I've dealt with the past 2/3 years... and I wouldn't change a thing. I really have enjoyed my time back... aside from a rl month where I was like "why the - did I come back?"
    meh

  • I sympathise. Achaea to me often feels like a blackhole, simply because once you're in, it keeps drawing you back to it, regardless of how much time you spend away.

Yes it is possible to jump back in! There's always the opportunity to make new mates among people in a House, or any org. Plus, given it is the Logosmas/Christmas season, most people should be in the holiday mood, which usually means jovial-ness all around. :)

Achaea is not crack. If it was crack, it would be wack, and Keith Haring (may he rest in peace) would make a mural of it.
