Friendly advice, stay away from the Gigas (Gigantasarous). They are the apex predator and do about  1k damage per bite, and they're pretty quick. These things are about three times the size of a Rex. I took my level 109 Rex out to hunt, which had 10k health and 600+ damage, ran into a level 2 Giga and it ate me and the rex for lunch. So yeah, if you see one, give it a wide berth.

  • I had to abandon base today. Some giant dino with a big fin on its back was terrorizing where I built at. The thing took 60 shots from my rifle and was barely bleeding!

That would be a spino, which is basically the "rex" of the rivers. It might actually be gone now, as we did a wild dino wipe.

I'd you have trouble again just shout out and I'll come help out. Since there are no sides there is no point to not helping.

@Eslam, not sure how much you've built yet, but just wanted to let you know seems you've built on a beacon drop location and the beacon drop keeps getting stuck in your house.

Its all good to destroy that. Built another house on a raft and trying to find a mountain right now

Yeah man, if there is a dino terrorizing you, feel free to give a shout out. We've got plenty of dinos that can take out pretty much anything short of a giga.

  • What's the server activity like? I'm thinking of picking this game up never got round to it. Could be the ideal place to dip my toe into the craziness I've seen on this game

Typically about 5-10 players on mainly in the late afternoon into the evening.

  • I am normally around from (all times are est) 8ish pm to 2ish am during the week and mosr has been around from midnight till whenever. If you do decide to try and want to join our little tribe just shoot mosr or me a message.

Yeah, this server is pretty newbie friendly.  The biggest thing is to not let dying bother you because it will happen often if you don't really know what you're doing.

Once we're done with our dinosaur barn,  we're probably going to beautify the actual house because it's actually kind of noobish. (Sorry Tyamat)

  • Decided to buy it and join and man it's a lot of fun. The amount of deaths early game is ridiculous tho. Start hacking away at some turtle thing and some giant Dino leaps at me. Or when I start building a little one square hut and a load of venom spitting dinos take offence and rush me. Or just the giant bloody snakes
  • Is it a vanilla server or  do you have x10-50 gather, xp, tame? I did the whole Official server and i spent two weeks of my life taming like perfect level sabers to have them all killed by some chinese tribe when everyone was sleeping. So I will never sit there and tame anything for more than like 30 minutes. Also why I play only unofficial.
  • KresslackKresslack Florida, United States
Yeah I don't do Official servers for that very reason. Mostly it's just offline raiding on those and everything is such a heavy time investment.

This server is non-modded but taming is 10x, xp is 4x, and harvesting is like 5x. Also, stats per level have been increased both for players and dinos.

This one is a super legit server. You progress fast enough to keep interested, yet slow enough to still be a challenge. The only thing you have to worry about are random river t-rexs (whatever they are called) smashing you. One of them things took 60 rifle shots and kept rampaging. O.o

I broke the server. It didn't like that Tyamat tamed a giga.

Also, @Kresslack, do you have a link to those forums you were talking about?

Spinosaurus?  Yeah they hurt. Faster attacking speed than T-Rex's.  Or you talking about a GIGA (Bigger than T-REX)
  • Spino I am pretty sure, it had a spiny fin on its back and loved the water.

It's fixed now. And I'll have to set up something tonight outside of the actual Ark community site because apparently that section was reserved for Tribe recruitment. Whoops.

I figured that I'd share our work-in-progress house. Just finished the behemoth gate entrance behind the giga.

eta: The box on top is a temporary taming pen.

Here's a site I threw together for keeping up with information and what not. Features a gallery section as well were people can create their own galleries for public view.

This is also where announcements and polls will be available.

My lakehouse equipped with taming pen:

    Baby Rex!

    Baby spino!

  • how long does it take for the server to update? I can't seem to log in, thinking that due to the update this server's behind
  • KresslackKresslack Florida, United States
Server is down for today in order to make the changes and transition. I'll post on the site and here when it's ready to go.

I'm pretty underwhelmed by primitive+. Maybe it's better on your server with more people, but on mine it's pretty boring. I may switch it back to regular Ark and open it up to people here that like the original better.

It's meant to be played with more people. The whole idea of it is to split things up into specialisations such as farming, cooking, building, hunting, fighting, etc. We're having a blast with it already. I mean...you get to roll your own smoke and make all kinds of alcoholic beverages, plus a ton of specialised crafting stations and new crops.

You and Tymat and them should come and start a tribe.

Personally, I've played vanilla Ark a lot. Got the game when it was first released for early access. Kicking myself for that now since they've cut the price down about 75%, but still, Vanilla gets pretty old.

There's also market stalls and trading bins so tribes can trade with each other here. And with the update to the Center, the place is huuuuge.
