Bard Artefacts

I have been thinking about going bard for awhile. What are all the artefacts that bards can make use of? I am going to do my own research but would like to know if I miss anything. I'll post what I have later so we don't conflict.

NEED:

Harmonics, and Devotion users to create vibrations or harmonics or
     rites with double the lifetime.

I have most of the rest as well.

         trees.

    Chitin greaves: 500 credits
       - When worn, allows the owner to LEAP like a Horkval.
The owner and wearer of the greaves must possess both balance and
equilibrium to begin a leap and may not be prone. Balance is used.
The leap may still be disrupted by slipping on icy ground, closed
doors, gravehands, piety, grounding vibration, or banana peel.
There is an endurance cost. No defences are disturbed by leaping
beyond those disturbed by any other normal movement (such as,
         for example, a prismatic barrier).

    Dragonskin Quivers: 100 credits
       - For sale in Moghedu, right next to the entrance, in a shop.
       - These quivers, and their contents, never decay.

    Earrings of Sinope: 800 credits

       - Lets you reset your racial specialisation once an Achaean month
(once per rl day) in lieu of reincarnating. Syntax: RACE UNSPECIALISE.
       - This artefact will not work for anyone but the owner.

    Grimoire of Adaptation: 1000 credits
       - Lets the owner reset his or her traits up to once an Achaean month
(once per rl day) with the syntax READ GRIMOIRE.

    Intellect Crown: 500 credits
       - When you are trying to mind lock someone else, this cuts the time
that it takes to gain the mind lock by 40%.

    Liquid Rift expansions
       - These various tap devices will increase the capacity of the liquid rift.

A Phaestean faucet     (x4 base liquid rift capacity) - 500 credits

Chip of the lesser lorewarden   (10 minute cooldown) - 800 credits

    Mask of Lifevision: 500 credits
       - Lets you use lifevision to see most hidden people. This does not
simply work by being worn. Rather, wearing it allows you to use
the ability 'lifevision.' This identifies some of those who may
be walking around as ghostly forms, defeats some illusions, and
reveals some forms of hiding or concealing of one's presence.

Permanent Tattoos (also known as Artefact Tattoos): 100 credits

    Prospero's Greater Vault: 500 credits
       - Quadruples rift capacity.

    Shadowcloak: 800 credits
       - A cloak that lets you use the necromancer shroud ability.

    Top Hat: 25 credits
       - This beautiful top hat has various interesting properties.
It is a container, and it holds 75 items: put what you want into it.
When you look in it, all you see is if it's empty or not.
When you try to take anything out (GET x FROM HAT) you will not know
in advance what item you are getting. The hat does not create new
(or destroy existing) things, nor does it change the things you put in.
If you put in ten things, and pull out ten things, you'll still have
the same ten things exactly. You just won't know what order they'll
come out. THINK OF THE POSSIBILITIES!

Vambraces of the Berserker: 300 credits
       - Harness the power of the berserker to extend your battlerage's lifespan.

    Vibrating stick: 800 credits
       - Lets you warp through wormholes in space-time.
Specifically, you gain the ability to WORM WARP and WORM SEEK.

    Wolverine's Claws: 500 credits
       - Magical claws you wear on your hands which will allow you to burrow
like a druid in wolverine morph. These claws must be worn to grant
their surpassing power. They do not conflict with any other worn
         item.

    Wyrmskin Packs: 100 credits
       - For sale in Moghedu, right next to the entrance, in a shop.
       - These packs hold 100 items instead of 50, and never decay.

  • Bard, like most classes, can make use of (for some definition of "make use" of) basically every artefact that isn't specific to another class. All of HELP ARTEFACTS STATS, a lot of HELP ARTEFACTS OFFENSIVE, a lot of HELP ARTEFACTS DEFENSIVE, most of HELP ARTEFACTS MISC. As a minimum, I'd say get:
    Rapier
    Tuning fork
    Pendulum
    Aldar talisman or Aldar diadem
    Strength gauntlets
    Intelligence sash
    Collar
    Critical pendant
    Shield of Absorption
    Constitution belt
    Bracelets
    Health regen ring
    Sip ring

Chances are you already have a lot of those. There are a ton of useful artefacts that aren't class specific, too, like wings, boomerang, wand of portals, wand of reflection.

Why is aldar important for bard? The only thing they use eq for is harms, no?
    Huh. Neat.
  • Aldar is important to everyone!
  • Dirge uses equilibrium (in addition to voice balance), if I recall correctly. Harmonics obviously do, including Andante (call harmonics) and Battaglia. If you're bashing using Harmonics (and most people will be) you'll be calling harmonics every time you move, so reducing the cost there is a huge performance improvement.

Then there's all the general purpose things that use equilibrium, such as touching shield, hitting shield, farsight, restore, etc. Reducing all of those by 15% is a big deal. Aldar is one of those things everybody should buy relatively high up on their priority listing.
  • Which is why it had a price increase.
  • KenwayKenway San Francisco
Minuet uses eq. Worth it just for that.
Bracers of frost are a bit high priced at 1000cr but if thats not an issue for you, ground freeze would  give you some room hinder that would make fighting a SP bard even more futile.

  • Thanks for all the feedback!
  • What is the purpose of the Golden Pendulum? I bought it but when I call Harmonics it takes 3.4 seconds to recover (with diadem). So I am lost to the purpose of this.

It halves the time it takes for the harmonics to arrive, it has no effect on equilibrium. The harmonics are there before you regain eq with the pendulum.

  • So why would I want to take 3.4 seconds every room to call harmonics?

I use battlerage whilst waiting for eq if I call harmonics. More often, I'll battaglia them ahead, then barge on in. You do sometimes get a lucky anthem proc whilst still off eq, watching three ducal guards hitting anthem is quite satisfying :D

Mostly because Harmonics make you tanky as shit. Continuo is 15% health regen every 10 seconds, if I recall correctly, so it scales amazingly on maximum health (and nothing really stops Bard from maximising constitution, plus they have Aria on top). Anthem is amazing when it lands on the right damage type. Hallelujah is great for things that hit with Loki (e.g. Unsidhe, Underworld scorpions). It used to be even more worthwhile when Bard was affected by its own Canticle (faster balance recovery). Also, in case you're not aware, you can call harmonics off balance, so your first attack will/should be jab/call harmonics; your jab is probably somewhere around 1.8 so you're adding about 1.6 seconds to the first attack, in exchange for some pretty fantastic bonuses.

Of course, if you're not hunting anywhere you feel like you need harmonics, don't bother with them. Faster to just plow straight through everything with jabs. I do that if I'm hunting places where I'm not in any danger of dying and there's no hidden affs to deal with.

  • Didnt know you could call off balance!!!!
