Thoughts?

I'm happy with the insignia, though I wouldn't mind an upgrade with a shorter cooldown. None of the prices are particularly bad, either, so I was able to pick up everything I wanted to with what I had saved.

  • Once an hour for spec changes with the Insignia, bringing it in line with the base class-change artefact, seems like it'd be fair.

The commodities shop artefact is pretty excellent.

I like 'em, all in all!
  • I'm very tempted with the insignia. The chance to go SnB as well as 2H sounds great.

    (Party): Mezghar says, "Stop."
  • I think the rift expansion arties might have broken something. I bought mine, and I got the boost to rift capacity, but apparently people in Eleusis who haven't bought them are getting boosts up as well.
    - (Eleusis): Ellodin says, "The Fissure of Echoes is Sarathai's happy place."
    - With sharp, crackling tones, Kyrra tells you, "The ladies must love you immensely."
    - (Eleusian Ranger Techs): Savira says, "Most of the hard stuff seem to have this built in code like: If adventurer_hitting_me = "Sarathai" then send("terminate and selfdestruct")."
    - Makarios says, "Serve well and perish."
    - Xaden says, "Xaden confirmed scrub 2017."

  • I'll be using all four specialisations, but was hoping to have a bit more freedom to switch (especially since I have both Runewarden and Paladin). You currently can't switch specialisation even paying the lesson cost while the artefact is on cooldown, though I've filed a BUG for that.

The Knight spec artie pays for itself in 21 days if you use it, faster than any artefact available, ever. Honestly, I hoped it was going to be more expensive, because I didn't want to deal with Knights automatically swapping to the style that most inconveniences my current class at that moment. Alas, at 350cr, it's one of the best bargains in the entire artefact list. No one should be complaining about it.
-- Grounded in but one perspective, what we perceive is an exaggeration of the truth.
  • The Knight spec one sounds fairly cheap to me. If they were going to lower the cooldown, it should definitely include a much higher cost.

  • I am buying the trader's reference because I am lazy.
  • Anyone got specifics on the runestone? What kinda balance time are we talking about?
He is a coward who has to bring two friends as backup to jump people hunting.

  • Looks like it halves the balance times for sketching and smudging ground runes.
  • Not bad at all...

    ...so tempting
He is a coward who has to bring two friends as backup to jump people hunting.

  • Given the huge diversity between knight specs, the insignia seems hugely underpriced for an artifact that gives you something like 4 classes in one. People already consider things like soulpiercers for bards or diadems on magic classes a core investment for their class, there's no way that with it's current price it doesn't become a must-buy. I play around with knight on occasion, and never thought I'd really want an artifact like that, but at that price, it's damned hard to justify not picking up just to switch between damage and affliction builds on the fly.

The 100 lesson cost wasn't much in the scheme of things, but getting hit for 15 credits every swap was at least a psychological disincentive. All knights will be all specs with this thing, I bet.

  • It's not on the fly though... there's a 24 hour cooldown

This guy gets it. Consider also the incentive to purchase multiple weapons.

It was designed to be a win-win for business and consumer. I did touch on the psychological connotation involved with lessons being invested while credits are spent as currency.

I happily pay for convenience - a great included bonus.

We keeping the lights on around here.

What's the increase on rage cooldown from the Vambraces? (might finally be able to move, call harmonics then attack before rage disappears!)

Tharos, the Announcer of Delos shouts, "It's near the end of the egghunt and I still haven't figured out how to pronounce Clean-dat-hoo."
  • @Klendathu You do know you can call harmonics off balance, right? What's the normal rage decay? Looks like 15 seconds with the vambraces, but that's what I thought it was already without them...
  • Its +5 seconds.
  • @Makarios Filed a bug in-game already, but doesn't look like it's actually working.
  • Looks like there was a flag missing - should work now.

If it's that cheap you're not even paying for convenience, it'll pay itself off quickly with fairly regular use.

  • I mean, buying a second class is ~3x the cost of changing class. Gem of transmutation is 10 times the price of changing race once. Same for traits and Grimoire.

21x the price for one spec change doesn't seem unreasonably cheap, given the additional cost of weapons on top of that, especially when it's only once per 24 hours. I'm a SnB with a lvl 3 longsword, so I'm debating whether I want to bother buying it when I'd be unartied as any other spec. If you add artefact costs, you're definitely paying a lot to play every knight spec.

  • Unless you have a morphing weapon.

    Muhahahaha.

Morphing weapon is a curse.  Now I'm going to be forced to pickup runie and the spec artie. Someone buy me some strength arties so I can kill people?
  • @Klendathu
The items are +5 seconds on BR Timer and
+33% BR damage (for allies using a conditional attack)

Wait, I may just be tired after a 15 hour work shift, but morphing weapon? The foozle is this and why do I feel I need it already?

    Can I buy 2?

  • @Cooper That's just sexy.
  • Yeah :(

If you measure out the cost of everything verse the value you'll always talk yourself out of everything cool.  No one needs a new Porsche, but I justify it because it gets 36mpg.  Sure, that's the same of say a fancy Honda or Toyota, but the Porsche is bit snazzier.

Don't look at the return on investment (ROI) because it's not an investment, it's money spent on a text game, none of it can be truly justified; just a giant pot of "yeah I have a imaginary sword I spent $500 on, what about it?  It sits next to my imaginary wings I spent $600."

A lot of people in Achaea complain about the cost/benefit of classes over other classes, these are no secret, knights are expensive.  If ya can't run with the big dogs, roll Bard :)

In short:  Spend money, it's good for your soul.
