A new class huh? Put your predictions here

Apparently there is a lot of talk going around of a new class to be coming out, with many theories left and right on the topic. Put your theories, whether truthful, fantasized, or just plain funny, here!

I'd prefer a class with the same stance mechanics and animal taming but they should use bone knives called sitaras which they make out of the corpses of their enemies and they should also have like a stealth/assassination skills instead of the trinket customisation skill.
  • More seriously, it could either be a pirate-based class, since the admin are wanting to work towards improving seafaring and that could fit nicely in there, or a polearm like Sena suggested. Sarapis said a long time ago (Alchemist release, maybe? Might have even been Blademaster) that he always wanted a polearm-based class and that if a new class were to come about, it would be one of those.

While pirate would be kinda cool, I hope its the polearm one. My favorite class in Imperian was the Ranger with their glaives (and the general theme of their guild back when I played).

    Archery Class

Bowmanship - various types of arrows... lighter ones for speed and affliction, heavier ones with blade-like tips that are slower but deal heavier damage, and LoS. Considering rooms in Achaea are big enough to allow plenty of room for many adventurers and dragons in one spot, it is not unreasonable to think archery would be useable at a shorter distance in the same room instead of always being LoS.

Some form of hand to hand combat. Either have the bow accomadate some kind of bladed edge, or to transform into one, or use their shield as a blunt object. Here's a random idea of many ways this could be carried out. I would think this blade would be less damage than many of the weapons used in knight classes, but more than what a serpent would use.

The third skill I am not so sure of. Perhaps another class with a loyal? Some type of canine would be interesting, if collared interchangeable as a wolf, a dog, etc. A class with mounted utility beyond just the Riding skill would be wicked awesome, too.

  • I like the idea of a polearm class

It'd also be fun to see something Maori inspired. They have a lot of really cool weapons that would be fun to take advantage of as well as using their tattoos for some runelore / spiritlore type benefits.

Something factional I won't be able to play. :(
Aurora says, "Are you drunk, Aodfionn?"
  • KlendathuKlendathu Eye of the Storm
    Barbarian

Tharos, the Announcer of Delos shouts, "It's near the end of the egghunt and I still haven't figured out how to pronounce Clean-dat-hoo."
  • I've got my fingers crossed for factional classes for those who don't have them already.
  • KasyaKasya Tennessee
Haven't the admins said they don't really have plans for more factional classes?
  • Well I know they said that they weren't planning any new classes anytime soon
  • It is hard for me to think of a class for Achaea when the existing classes are already such a blend of traditional fantasy game class types. I am a sucker for Battlemages. Chivalry, Weaponmastery and a new skillset Battlemagic would be awesome. That would just be yet another subset of knight though. I would like also an Assassin or Bandit type class. Dual wielding a shortsword and a dirk perhaps. Again, that would take away from the existing Serpent class I guess.

    Cardmages! (better name pending)

    Tarot + a damage ability
Artistry (think like puppetry where you could draw cards with someone's image/refine it and manipulate that)
Eidolons - 10 spirits scattered throughout the world. you have to do something unique for each and they imbue a card with their image. throw the card to summon (a copy of?) them.

  • Arent bards technically already very close to pirates? All they are missing is a cutlass at this point
  • I'm really hoping for something less like "fantasy archetype X", especially since the classes already have such coverage of most fantasy archetypes, and more like serpent (or, to a slightly lesser extent, blademaster) - something really uniquely Achaean.

Pirate seems like it would be a weird choice. It fits with working on seafaring, but there is a class that literally has a skill called swashbuckling. The music stuff in it is not super pirate-themed, but it still seems like it would be pretty close. And dual-cutting knight seems like it could fill a pirate niche already too. The only really unique thing I can imagine is giving them flintlock pistols or something, but that seems pretty unlikely given Achaea's longstanding thematic aversion to gunpowder.

Also isn't Sentinel pretty much the polearm class now?
  • Through Dwarf ingenious creation, Gun-powder is now a thing in Achaea!

    Man-Hunter/Arcanian Legacy:

Sharpshooting: Load up a gun and use a slew of techniques, can use 2 guns for more effects < damage.
Athletics: A shooter needs to be light on his/her feet.
Armaments: A slew of wicked contraptions and gun upgrades, sure to turn the battle in your favor.

A polearm-using class, able to specialise in either halberds or bardiches (halberds being faster/weaker and bardiches being slower/stronger, with some other differences between them). They wear splintmail, and have the unique ability to wear tower shields (or SoA) on their backs to receive a defensive boost (though the armour would be reduced compared to wielding it normally).

They'll have a large number of different stances and attacks, with each attack moving you from one stance to another. Most of the attacks would be available in any stance, and move you through the stances in a specific sequence (so attack1 would go through stance1>stance2>stance3>stance1, attack2 would go stance1>stance3>stance2>stance1 for example), with each stance giving a certain bonus/effect to the attacks (or other effects, like increased defence/dodging), then each stance additionally has one or two unique attacks that are only usable from that stance (some always moving you into a specific stance, some having the ability to specify the stance you end up in). Since they use polearms, most of these attacks would naturally have fairly long balance times, so the slower pace helps prevent players from being overwhelmed by the large number of things to take into account here (which stance you're currently in, which stance you want to be in next, which attack to use to get there, etc.). This makes up the bulk of the class's combat style, and is also what you'll use for bashing.

The second skill lets you customise your weapon and armour in various ways. For example, carving/painting magical designs into them, attaching enchanted ribbons/pennons, attaching animal parts (things like a wolf's head on your shield, dragon-tooth spikes or strings of bear claws on your armour, a lion pelt cape), etc. to get various benefits. You can only have a small number of customisations active at once (at least one each on your weapon, armour, and shield; some customisations don't allow any others on the same item, otherwise you're limited to 2-3 per item).

The third skill involves taming an animal companion, which can fight with you, serve as a mount, or offer some other utility, depending on what animal you choose. The animals you can tame (only one at a time, you'll have to release your current one to start taming a new one) include moose, lions, bears, wyverns, drakes, mastiffs, wolves, lynxes, eagles, and owls. All of them can help in a fight in some way, so there's no choice that isn't viable at all for PvP, though some will be more useful than others.

Because they use polearms, and their combat style resembles dancing, the class will be called poledancer.
This, um... this actually describes the Carnifex class from Aetolia pretty closely except for the second skill, which is replaced by something called 'Deathlore,' a sort of faux-Necromancy that revolves around the use of stolen energy from the souls of your opponents and those you've slain. You can use your soulstone (something you get via guild RP, IIRC) to augment your armor and polearm, though.

Originally I thought it'd be cool if the archery class would be set up similar to native american combat tactics... archery, tomahawk, tracking... then realized it was too similar to sentinel class, which is why I outlined something else completely different so it could stand on its own without being a copy of serpent or sentinel.

  • Night Terror

Astralism - wield the power of the night sky
Shadowform - Let the Darkness twist you into something else
    Tarot

You could play sounds of silence for dramatic effect, then blast the shit out of enter sandman while fighting.
  • I'd like a Haemomancer style class where the user gets to control their blood and the blood of others. More as an arcane/magus rather than crazy witch doctor. Thoroughly ripped off from Rai in Noblesse.

I'd love a class that was centered around the concept of Demon soul takeover from Fairy Tail @.@. Takeover magic so beautiful *weep*

I always thought it'd be cool if there was a race and/or class that  needed some kind of sustenance other than food up to Logosian... like an incubus/succubus that feeds off the energy of its victims (denizens work), or some kind of undead race/class. A demon type thing would be interesting, too! Maybe too Evil, though.
